Abstract

Abstract

Postpartum women experience both physical and psychological changes. Previous studies have shown that women who delivered via caesarean section tend to have lower levels of Subjective Well-Being (SWB) than those who gave birth vaginally. If left unaddressed, these psychological challenges may lead to anxiety or depression. This study aimed to investigate the impact of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training on improving the Subjective Well-Being of postpartum women following caesarean delivery. This research employed a randomized controlled pilot trial (waitlist control) with pretest–posttest assessments and utilized non-parametric analysis (Mann-Whitney U Test). The Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) were used to measure Subjective Well-Being and self-compassion. The results showed a significant increase in Subjective Well-Being among participants in the experimental group after receiving the MSC training. The findings suggest that MSC training is effective in improving the well-being of postpartum women who delivered via caesarean section.

Abstract

Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often experience difficulties in maintaining attention on tasks, display impulsive behaviors, and show signs of hyperactivity. Therefore, interventions are needed to help children manage ADHD symptoms. This study specifically aimed to examine the effectiveness of online behavior modification therapy using the response cost technique in enhancing task initiation in a child with ADHD. The study employed a single-case design. The participant was a 10-year-old child (n=1) who exhibited ADHD symptoms, including difficulties sustaining attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. Assessments were conducted through observation, interviews, and psychological testing. ADHD symptoms were measured using the Indonesian Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale (IARS). The intervention lasted for 5 weeks. Baseline psychological conditions were assessed to guide the intervention plan. Following the intervention, several improvements were observed, including a reduction in IARS scores (from 69 to 61), increased initiative in task completions, greater attentiveness during conversations, and a decrease in impulsive behaviors. However, as this study used a single-case design, the findings cannot be generalized, and further research is needed to better understand the effectiveness of this intervention for other children with ADHD. This study may serve as a reference for mental health professionals in managing ADHD cases in children.

Abstract

Anxiety symptoms in childhood are common and can adversely affect developmental and adaptive functioning. This single-case study evaluated outcomes of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for a 6-year-old girl (“S”) who presented with excessive anxiety and pronounced distress when separating from her caregiver at school drop-off. Pre-intervention assessment comprised interviews with the child and her parents and direct observation to identify the child’s anxiety manifestations. Post-intervention interviews and observations indicated the absence of previously reported symptoms—persistent worry, fear, and difficulty separating from the caregiver—across school and non-school contexts. The article offers practice-oriented recommendations for clinicians implementing similar interventions and proposes follow-up steps to support optimal social adaptation.

Abstract

Depression profoundly disrupts interpersonal relationships and impairs daily functioning. It is primarily associated with dysregulation of key neurotransmitter systems, making pharmacological intervention essential. Evidence indicates that combining pharmacotherapy with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) produces superior outcomes compared to pharmacotherapy alone in managing depression. This case study examines the application of CBT alongside antidepressant medication in the treatment of a 26-year-old woman working in the financial sector who experienced chronic anxiety and pervasive feelings of inadequacy. Her cognitive distortions led her to interpret neutral stimuli as threatening. The administration of quetiapine improved her sleep quality and enhanced emotional resilience under stress. Subsequently, she completed four brief online CBT sessions, which resulted in significant cognitive restructuring and enabled her to critically evaluate and modify negative automatic thoughts in daily life. As a result, she demonstrated greater self-efficacy and developed a more positive self-concept. This case contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of combined pharmacotherapy and CBT in reducing depressive symptoms among adult women.

Abstract

This study investigated the efficacy of Self Control for Pupils - Reflective Journaling (STOP-RJ) intervention program in enhancing self-control among juvenile detainees at the Jakarta Youth Correctional Center (LPKA Jakarta). A total of 15 male juvenile detainees, aged 15 to 18 years (M = 16.73), selected through convenience sampling, participated in the study with the approval of institutional authorities. Over the course of the 15-day program, participants were instructed to maintain reflective journals that focused on two primary aspects of self-control: emotional expression and adaptive social behavior. Their self-control levels were assessed using a self-control scale both before and after the intervention. Data analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test with the JASP program version 0.16.3.0. The findings revealed a significant increase in adaptive social behavior, accompanied by a large effect size (t (1.15) = 4.141, p < 0.001, d = 1.069). These outcomes reinforce the potential implications of structured reflective exercises in enhancing self-control skills among juvenile detainees.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a serious problem in Surakarta City, with a high number of marriage dispensation applications caused by extramarital pregnancy and a lack of reproductive health education. This study examined the effect of the e-comic “Sera & Sora: Exploring the World of Teenagers” in reducing early marriage intention. This e-comic is based on the lessons of Serat Widya Pramana, which contains comprehensive sexual education based on local wisdom. This quasi-experimental study employed a control group design with dependent pre- and post-test samples. The participants were 34 adolescents aged 15–18 years in Surakarta, who were divided into experimental and control groups. Results from an independent samples t-test showed that reading the e-comic significantly reduced intention to marry early (p = 0.017; p < 0.05), with average post-test scores for the experimental group being lower (50.41) than for the control group (56.58). These results suggest that e-comics could be an effective intervention for preventing early marriage.
