Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in religious social activities in Payakumbuh Barat District, focusing on how PAI teachers carry out their roles within the community both directly and indirectly, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting their performance. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity tested using source triangulation. The findings show that PAI teachers make tangible contributions to the community's religious social activities, encompassing ten roles based on Djamarah's theory: corrector, inspirator, informant, organizer, motivator, initiator, facilitator, guide, demonstrator, and mediator. Supporting factors include community support and a religious environment, while inhibiting factors involve time constraints and administrative burdens. School and government policies also play a role, with varying views among PAI teachers regarding the scope and legitimacy of their roles beyond the classroom. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening synergy between educational institutions, the community, and government bodies to support the strategic role of PAI teachers in fostering religious development within society.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the suboptimal implementation of reading activities in classroom instruction, which has led to low reading comprehension skills among fourth-grade students at SDN 01 Lubuak Batingkok, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The aim of this study is to describe the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model in improving students’ reading comprehension abilities. This research is a Classroom Action Research (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, PTK) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were the teacher and 20 fourth-grade students. A combined qualitative and quantitative approach was used, with data collected through observation, tests, and non-test techniques. The results show a significant improvement across all observed aspects. The average quality of teaching module preparation increased from 88.5% in Cycle I to 97% in Cycle II. The implementation of teaching by the teacher and student engagement rose from 87.42% to 96.42%. Students' reading comprehension skills also improved, with the average score rising from 76.85% (categorized as fair) in Cycle I to 92% (categorized as very good) in Cycle II. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the CIRC model is effective in enhancing students' reading comprehension. The implications of this study indicate that literacy-based cooperative learning strategies can serve as a viable alternative for developing foundational literacy skills in elementary education.

Abstract

The teaching method used by teachers at SDN 22 Andalas Barat is still predominantly lecture-based, resulting in a passive and monotonous classroom atmosphere, which negatively impacts student learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the effect of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) method on improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students (Phase C) in the Islamic Education subject. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving 44 students selected from a total population of 67 through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26, applying the paired sample t-test, independent sample t-test, and N-Gain score calculation. The paired sample t-test showed a t-value of 14.192 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), and the independent sample t-test yielded a t-value of 2.188, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.01808, with a significance level of 0.044, indicating a significant effect of the TGT method on student learning outcomes. The average N-Gain score of 0.523 indicates a moderate level of improvement. In conclusion, the Team Games Tournament method is proven to be more effective than the lecture method in enhancing student learning outcomes. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of implementing active and collaborative learning methods to create a participatory classroom environment that supports improved academic achievement.

Abstract

The lack of digital learning media aligned with current technological developments and the limited variety of media used in instructional processes serve as the background for this study. The aim of this research is to develop a Pop Up Book Digital learning medium that is valid, practical, and effective for use in Pancasila Education for fifth-grade elementary school students. This is a research and development (R&D) study employing the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through validation questionnaires involving subject matter experts, language experts, and media experts, as well as practicality questionnaires from teachers and students. The trial was conducted with 19 fifth-grade students from SDN 02 Tanjung Barulak and 22 fifth-grade students from SDN 13 Tanjung Barulak as the primary subjects. Data analysis techniques used a Likert scale to measure validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The results show that content validity reached 82.5%, language validity 87.5%, and media validity 95%, all of which fall into the "very valid" category. The practicality test scored 95% from teachers and 96.5% from students, while the effectiveness test reached 90%, indicating that the media is highly practical and highly effective. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Pop Up Book Digital is feasible for use as an innovative learning medium to enhance the effectiveness of Pancasila Education in fifth-grade elementary school instruction.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the suboptimal use of digital media in learning, which is largely due to teachers' limited ability to design and utilize media effectively. The aim of this research is to develop a learning medium in the form of an E-Book Creator supported by the Canva application for the Pancasila Education subject in fifth-grade elementary school. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through validation questionnaires administered to subject matter, language, and media experts, as well as practicality questionnaires from teachers and students. The trial was conducted with 12 students from SDN 06 Tujuah Koto Talago, with the main subjects being 25 students from SDN 05 Tujuah Koto Talago. Data analysis used a Likert scale. The results show that the developed media achieved a very high level of validity, with scores of 97.5% for content, 95% for language, and 98% for media. The practicality test showed very practical ratings from teachers (97.5%) and students (95.2%). The effectiveness test yielded a score of 90.4%, categorized as very effective. Therefore, it can be concluded that the E-Book Creator media supported by Canva is valid, practical, and effective in supporting Pancasila Education learning for fifth-grade elementary students and serves as an innovative solution for the contextual and accessible use of digital learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the water quality of Aek Macom in Lembah Sorik Marapi Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency, based on physical, chemical, and biological parameters, and to identify the spatial distribution of its pollution levels. Water samples were collected from three different locations and tested in a laboratory using physical parameters (Total Suspended Solids/TSS), chemical parameters (pH, Dissolved Oxygen/DO, Biochemical Oxygen Demand/BOD, Chemical Oxygen Demand/COD, nitrate, and total phosphate), and biological parameters (Fecal Coliform). The test results showed TSS values ranging from 2.12–3.71 mg/L, pH 4.35–5.11, DO 2.21–7.15 mg/L, BOD 2.56–12.76 mg/L, COD 11.32–46.90 mg/L, nitrate 24.18–44.00 mg/L, total phosphate 0.44–1.08 mg/L, and Fecal Coliform 89–113 MPN/100 mL. All results were then compared to the water quality standards set in Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning Environmental Protection and Management. Using the pollution index method, it was determined that the pollution index value was <6, indicating that Aek Macom falls under the lightly polluted category for Class II designation, which includes freshwater fish cultivation, water recreation facilities/infrastructure, and agricultural irrigation. The light pollution was identified in several villages, such as Maga Dolok, Pasar Maga Subdistrict, and Maga Lombang. These findings provide critical insights for water quality management in the area to prevent further degradation and ensure the sustainability of the local ecosystem.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the crucial role of practical facilities and student learning motivation in supporting learning outcomes, particularly in SMAW welding practice instruction at vocational high schools. The objective of this research is to determine the influence of welding workshop facilities and practical learning motivation on the learning outcomes of Grade XI Welding Engineering students at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. The study uses a quantitative method with a correlational approach, involving 25 students as the sample. Data were collected through questionnaires, documentation, and observation, and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression. The results show that: (1) welding workshop facilities significantly affect student learning outcomes, with a t value of 2.762 and the regression equation Y = 57.235 + 0.328X₁; (2) practical learning motivation also significantly affects learning outcomes, with a t value of 3.095 and the regression equation Y = 55.981 + 0.338X₂; (3) simultaneously, both variables have a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes, with a coefficient of determination R² = 0.315 and the regression equation Y = 52.831 + 0.812X₁ + 1.451X₂. These findings confirm that the availability of adequate practice facilities and high practical learning motivation together can improve student learning outcomes in SMAW welding subjects. The implication is that schools need to ensure the provision of appropriate practice facilities and foster student motivation through contextual and participatory learning strategies.

Abstract

Sub-district IV Angkek and Sub-district Canduang are areas with complex geographical characteristics. Topographic diversity, the density of the river network, and high rainfall make this area vulnerable to hydrometeorological disasters, especially flash floods. Therefore, it is important to study the suitability of existing settlement land and the direction of settlement development that considers aspects of disaster risk and the physical condition of the region. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach. The variables analyzed include river density, rainfall, slope, soil type, land use, and disaster vulnerability. Data were obtained through field surveys, satellite image interpretation, and spatial analysis using map overlay, scoring, weighting and risk zoning techniques. This process resulted in a land suitability and risk zoning map that became the basis for settlement spatial decision-making. The results show that areas with optimal suitability for settlement development are in zone S2, which is a green zone with low physical barriers and good accessibility. Most of the central to southern areas are buffer zones that function as transition zones between cultivated areas in the north and limited protected areas in the south. Sustainable management is the key to maximizing the productive potential of the region while maintaining environmental sustainability, especially in the face of high natural disaster risk in both sub-districts.

Abstract

Philosophy of education plays a crucial role in shaping the foundation of thinking and action for elementary school educators. Teachers are not only instructors but also character builders, moral guides, and agents of social transformation. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing previous research related to the implementation of educational philosophy in the context of elementary education. The findings reveal that the application of various philosophical perspectives—such as progressivism, idealism, essentialism, and perennialism—provides clear direction for the learning process and supports the development of students’ critical thinking, reflective abilities, and integrity. Therefore, mastering the philosophy of education is essential for teachers to create meaningful, value-based, and future-oriented learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trends and characteristics of research on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) from 2020 to 2025 using a bibliometric and literature review approach. A total of 18 relevant articles were collected from the Google Scholar database and the Publish or Perish application, selected based on topic relevance, application context, and methodological completeness. The analysis focused on research methods, addressed issues, and the effectiveness of SFBT implementation. Bibliometric visualization using VOSviewer software identified three main thematic clusters interconnected by the central keyword "solution." The first cluster focuses on the implementation of SFBT in educational settings, the second highlights its use in individual counseling, and the third explores the integration of SFBT with religious approaches, such as Islamic counseling. Keyword density visualization further confirms the dominance of solution-oriented themes, along with the emergence of newer topics such as anxiety and self-development. These findings indicate that SFBT is a flexible and adaptive therapeutic approach with high relevance across educational, psychological, and cultural contexts. The implications of this study reinforce SFBT’s position as an evolving intervention model with strong potential for further development in interdisciplinary fields.
