Abstract

The issue of limited literacy access and the quality of library services in elementary schools presents a significant challenge to improving educational quality. This study aims to analyze the implementation of library management and digitalization in supporting educational services at SDN Manukan Wetan 1/114 Surabaya. A qualitative case study approach was used, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings show that the school library has implemented structured management, including an organizational structure, the Dewey Decimal Classification system, and the use of digital applications such as INLISLite 3.2, with further development plans involving the DIGIDO platform. Despite challenges such as the shortage of professional librarians and concerns over digital copyright, several literacy services continue to operate, including mandatory reading visits, storytelling activities, and mobile library services. These findings indicate that effective library management and targeted digitalization can enhance reading interest and improve the efficiency of information services in elementary school settings. The implications of this study highlight the importance of technological infrastructure support, library staff training, and strengthened copyright regulations to optimize the role of digital libraries as a key component in foundational literacy education.

Abstract

This research investigates the application of differentiated instruction methods for teaching English language skills at SDN 1 Dasan Geres, an inclusive elementary school in West Lombok, Indonesia. The research investigated how participants comprehended differentiated instruction implementation within inclusive educational environments while teaching literacy and numeracy skills and developing student character. The research framework of this study combined a qualitative descriptive approach with the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. The research team gathered information through comprehensive interviews with English teachers and by examining documents, including lesson plans and student assignments. Teachers recognized the importance of meeting students' varied needs with a systematic, inclusive educational approach and differentiated teaching methods. Teachers experienced obstacles to effective implementation from limited training programs, insufficient resources, excessive teaching loads, inadequate time availability, and challenges managing oversized classes. The application of differentiated instruction strategies emerged inconsistently across subjects because teachers commonly employed informal assessments to create these methods. Teachers dismantled specific barriers through differentiated instruction, leading to higher student engagement and improved self-esteem and participation. Instruction that centers on each student's unique preparation level and personal interests leads to improved literacy abilities and enhanced positive character qualities among students. Research determined that achieving differentiated educational sustainability demands professional development, sufficient instructional resources, and organizational backing for effective teaching strategies in inclusive primary education settings.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of eleventh-grade santri in the Al-Qur’an Hadist subject at Pondok Pesantren Asy-Syarif Sidang Koto Laweh, attributed to educator-centered instruction and the limited active participation of santri during the learning process. The research aims to examine whether the use of the Bahtsul Masa’il method results in better learning outcomes compared to conventional methods in Al-Qur’an Hadist instruction. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, in which the independent variable is the Bahtsul Masa’il method and the dependent variable is the santri's learning outcomes. The study population comprised all students at the MA level, totaling 85 individuals. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 14 santri from class XI.S as the control group and 18 santri from class XI.A as the experimental group. The data collection instrument consisted of a written test with fifteen essay questions. The analysis results indicate a significant effect of the Bahtsul Masa’il method on learning outcomes, contributing 11.64%, as demonstrated by a t-test with a significance value of 0.004 < 0.05. The difference in average final scores shows that the experimental class achieved higher learning outcomes than the control class. Meanwhile, 88.36% of the outcomes were influenced by other relevant factors such as increased critical thinking, participation, and learning motivation among santri. These findings suggest that the Bahtsul Masa’il method is effective in enhancing learning outcomes and promoting more active and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of library management and digitalization at SDN Lidah Kulon 1 Surabaya as a response to the low reading interest among elementary school students. The primary objective is to analyze how structured library management and the use of digital platforms can improve student literacy. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the library has a clear organizational structure involving the principal, head librarian, administrative staff, and technical services. The book classification system uses the Dewey Decimal Classification adapted with color schemes to facilitate access for young learners. The library is currently transitioning toward digitalization by utilizing the English Light and Inlislite applications, along with digital reading lists via Google Sheets. Literacy programs such as SAS (Sekolah AREK Surabaya) support literacy development through storytelling and writing activities. A partnership with Universitas Negeri Surabaya since 2022 has further strengthened the development of digital collections and provided digital literacy training for educational staff. However, the digitalization process still faces challenges such as limited internet access, low technological literacy among users, and copyright issues related to digital content. The study concludes that efficient library management and digital innovation contribute positively to improving student literacy, though the sustainability of such programs requires adequate infrastructure and ongoing training for library personnel.

Abstract

This study analyzes the application of local community wisdom in riverbank erosion conservation in Desa Pulau Terap, Kecamatan Kuok, Kabupaten Kampar, Riau Province. The research aims to identify and analyze: (1) forms of local wisdom in riverbank erosion conservation, (2) factors inhibiting its implementation, and (3) efforts to mitigate erosion threats based on local wisdom. A qualitative approach was used, with informants selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that local wisdom has been applied through two methods: vegetative techniques and traditional civil engineering using floating fish cages (keramba apung) along the river. Inhibiting factors include waste disposal into the river, land-use changes around the riverbanks, and unregulated sand and stone mining activities. Community and village government efforts to reduce erosion threats include issuing warnings, enforcing sanctions, and conducting outreach programs by village officials and niniok mamak (traditional leaders), both verbally and in writing, to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving the river environment. These findings confirm that integrating local wisdom into environmental conservation can serve as an effective strategy for sustainable natural resource management.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the social media platform TikTok in the Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam or PAI) subject to enhance the learning interest of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 26 Padang, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The study is motivated by the low student interest in PAI due to monotonous and less interactive teaching methods. A qualitative approach was employed using a field study method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The findings indicate that using TikTok as a learning medium has a positive impact on increasing student interest. Teachers utilized short, visual, and communicative educational videos, drawing on both existing content and self-produced materials. Supporting factors include access to technology, student enthusiasm for the platform, and teacher creativity in delivering content. Inhibiting factors involve limited digital infrastructure, potential distractions from non-educational content, and a lack of control over irrelevant material. Therefore, the use of TikTok in PAI instruction should be structured and continuously monitored to ensure alignment with educational objectives and Islamic values.

Abstract

Addictive behaviors such as pathological gambling and smoking are two common mental and physical health issues among individuals in early adulthood. This study aims to examine the relationship between pathological gambling and smoking behavior among young adults in Kota Padang. A quantitative method with a correlational design was employed. The study involved 350 participants aged 18 to 25 years, selected using purposive sampling. Instruments included the Gambling Symptom Assessment Scale (G-SAS) to measure the level of pathological gambling (Grant et al., 2013) and the Glover-Nilsson Smoking Behavior Questionnaire (GN-SBQ) to assess behavioral dependence on smoking (Faradhillah & Dewi, 2018a). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test with IBM SPSS 25. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between pathological gambling and smoking behavior, with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of r = 0.845. These findings suggest that individuals with high levels of pathological gambling also tend to exhibit high levels of smoking behavior. The implications underscore the need for preventive interventions targeting dual addictive behaviors in early adulthood, particularly in urban areas such as Kota Padang, to mitigate the long-term negative impacts on mental and physical health.

Abstract

Low student motivation in the Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam or PAI) subject has become a major obstacle in the learning process at SMAN 1 Solok Selatan, as indicated by passive attitudes, lack of enthusiasm, and limited interest in conventional teaching methods. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using a Canva-based e-module in increasing students’ learning motivation in PAI. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach and 2x2 factorial design was employed. The population consisted of all tenth-grade students (333 individuals), with a random sample comprising class E7 as the experimental group (31 students) and class E8 as the control group (30 students). Research instruments included a learning motivation questionnaire and multiple-choice test items. Data were analyzed using Paired Sample t-Test, Independent Sample t-Test, and N-Gain Score calculation with SPSS version 30. The results show that the use of the Canva-based e-module significantly increased students' learning motivation, with an average N-Gain of 56.84% in the experimental class (moderately effective category), while the control class experienced a decrease in motivation with an N-Gain of -16.24% (ineffective category). The study concludes that the Canva e-module is an effective learning medium for enhancing student motivation in PAI. Its implications highlight the importance of integrating technologies such as Canva into religious education as a strategic approach to creating more engaging, interactive, and relevant learning experiences for today’s digital generation.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited use of information technology by teachers in creating instructional media that are creative, engaging, enjoyable, and aligned with contemporary developments. The aim of this research is to develop Genially-based learning media for the Pancasila Education subject, specifically on the topic of gotong royong in the local environment, for fifth-grade elementary school students, which meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Validation results indicate that the developed learning media achieved a very high level of validity: 95% in the material aspect, 94.2% in language, and 97.5% in media. Practicality tests also showed very high percentages from both teachers and students: 93.3% and 94.9% in the trial school, 95.5% and 95.8% in the first research school, and 97.7% and 94.3% in the second research school. Effectiveness tests measured through N-Gain scores yielded results of 76.38 at SDN 10 ATTS, 76.20 at SDN 10 Sapiran, and 76.01 at SDN 05 Tarok Dipo, all categorized as effective. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Genially-based learning media for Pancasila Education on the topic of gotong royong in the local environment for fifth-grade elementary students is suitable for use, having proven to be valid, practical, and effective in supporting the learning process.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the impact of the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka on the moral development of elementary school (SD) students through an approach that emphasizes flexibility, relevance, and student-centered learning. The study adopts a literature review method by analyzing the concepts of Kurikulum Merdeka, theories of moral development in elementary-aged children, and their potential interrelation in the learning context. The findings indicate that the flexibility offered by the Kurikulum Merdeka provides space for teachers to integrate moral values into instruction in a contextual manner aligned with students’ needs. Project-based and collaborative learning emphasized in the curriculum are considered effective in fostering empathy, responsibility, and social awareness from an early age. However, the effectiveness of implementation heavily depends on teachers’ understanding of children's moral development stages and their ability to design adaptive and meaningful instructional strategies. In conclusion, the Kurikulum Merdeka holds significant potential in supporting character formation and the moral development of elementary students, provided that its implementation is well-planned, contextual, and oriented toward the holistic developmental needs of children.
