Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Islamic ethical value internalization in primary education at SD Muhammadiyah Sambon. The research is grounded in the importance of instilling Islamic character from an early age through structured and contextual approaches within the school environment. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach and the axiology framework of Islamic philosophy, the study examines teaching practices and school culture in fostering ethical values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and compassion. Data were collected through observation, document analysis, and interviews with three Islamic Education (PAI) teachers, and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that value internalization is carried out through three main strategies: teacher role modeling, habituation in daily routines, and integration of values into subjects and school activities. These findings underscore the critical role of teachers as ethical models and school culture as an effective medium for shaping students’ Islamic character. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse on Islamic educational axiology and offers practical recommendations for primary schools in developing value-oriented learning systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Aristotle's Virtue Ethics theory as portrayed in the film Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and to examine its relevance to Islamic Religious Education. The research is grounded in the importance of instilling universal moral values in education and explores how popular media such as film can represent ethical principles that align with Islamic teachings. A qualitative method with a content analysis approach was employed. The primary data source is the film Bhajrangi Bhaijaan directed by Kabir Khan, supported by secondary data from relevant literature, including journals, books, articles, and previous studies. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation, encompassing preparation, implementation, and completion phases. The findings reveal that five core aspects of Aristotle’s Virtue Ethics, courage, generosity, justice, modesty, and benevolence are explicitly depicted in various scenes throughout the film. The film not only illustrates noble behavior consistent with Aristotle’s virtues but also conveys universal messages of humanity, compassion, and mutual assistance. In the context of Islamic Religious Education, these values hold strong relevance, as all of the aforementioned virtues are emphasized in the Qur’an and Hadith. Thus, the film can serve as a contextual learning medium to strengthen Islamic character formation and broaden students' understanding of ethical values across cultures.

Abstract

The instruction of makharijul huruf is a fundamental aspect of Qur’anic education, particularly for first-grade students at Pondok Tahfidz Hazima, who are in the early stages of developing accurate reading skills in accordance with tajwid rules. This study aims to identify the role of teachers in enhancing students' ability to pronounce makharijul huruf correctly. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that teachers play a strategic role in guiding students, notably through the formation of study groups based on skill levels and the consistent application of the talaqqi method. Furthermore, collaboration among teachers, parents, and the institution serves as a key supporting factor in the success of the learning process. Through intensive guidance and regular direct correction, students demonstrated significant improvement in their pronunciation of makharijul huruf over a one-year period. The study concludes that the effectiveness of the teacher's role in makharijul huruf instruction is influenced by appropriate pedagogical approaches, institutional support, and active parental involvement. The implications highlight the need to increase the number of teaching staff, utilize diverse learning media, and strengthen communication between teachers and parents to support optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Islamic worldview on the Islamic education system at PTQ Cahaya Nusantara. The research is grounded in the importance of holistically internalizing Islamic values to shape students' character. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that educators’ understanding of the Islamic worldview is manifested in the principle of “adab before knowledge”, implemented through habituation, role modeling, and a curriculum integrated with tauhid and ethical values. Strategies include cek adab (adab checks), the integration of adab-related content into lessons, and a spiritual approach to character development. Although challenges persist, such as inconsistent behavioral transformation among students, the application of the Islamic worldview has shown a positive impact on character formation and a sense of responsibility among learners. The study concludes that integrating the Islamic worldview is a crucial element in Islamic education aimed at nurturing insan kamil through a unified approach to values, spirituality, and morality.

Abstract

Understanding differences, particularly in the context of religious beliefs is not an easy task, as it touches the most fundamental aspects of a person’s value system and identity. It requires an open heart and the awareness that every human being is created in diversity by Allah (SWT). Physical differences may be relatively easier to accept, but when the differences pertain to beliefs and religious teachings, each of which claims absolute truth the potential for conflict increases significantly. Every religion teaches a non-negotiable truth, including Islam. While such absolutism is valid within the theological domain, it can become a source of tension if not accompanied by a wise understanding of diversity. Within the framework of pluralism, understanding differences does not mean equating or blending beliefs, but rather recognizing their existence as part of the divine reality that must be respected. Differences are not to be eliminated but embraced as a strength for building cooperation, reinforcing human solidarity, and achieving a harmonious life. Therefore, tolerance toward religious differences is essential for fostering dignified and civilized human relations.

Abstract

The phenomenon of moral crisis among vocational high school (SMK) students reflected in undisciplined behavior, lack of respect for teachers, and low religious awareness forms the critical background of this study. The research aims to analyze the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping the Islamic character of Grade XI students at SMK Pertanian Pembangunan Negeri Padang. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving PAI teachers, the vice principal, and students. The findings reveal that PAI teachers apply various strategies, including habituation of obligatory worship, role modeling in attitude and behavior, integration of character values into learning processes, and student involvement in school-based religious activities. Supporting factors for these efforts include school policy support, a religious school environment, and parental involvement. Challenges include negative external influences, low motivation among some students, and limited time for character development. The study concludes that the role of PAI teachers is highly strategic in shaping students’ Islamic character through a holistic approach that combines example, habituation, and motivation. The study recommends strengthening character education programs based on Islamic values as an integral part of the educational system in vocational schools.

Abstract

Ideal Islamic education should not solely emphasize cognitive aspects such as Qur’anic memorization, but also deeply instill values of adab and spirituality. This study aims to examine a value- and character-based Islamic education model implemented at PTQ Cahaya Nusantara. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted through field methods, utilizing data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation, which were then thematically analyzed. The findings indicate that PTQ Cahaya Nusantara has successfully integrated Islamic values into the learning process through programs such as halaqah adab, market day, the Organisasi Santri (OSP), and character report cards. Key components contributing to the success of this model include sustained leadership styles, consistent evaluation systems, and a value internalization approach. In conclusion, the educational model at PTQ Cahaya Nusantara represents a holistic approach to Islamic education, centered on the development of noble character, and offers a significant contribution to the advancement of value-based character education models in contemporary Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Sunan Bonang was a central figure in the spread of Islam in 15th-century Java, known not only as a preacher but also as a visionary educator with a contextual and sufistic approach. This study aims to examine the contributions and distinctive features of Sunan Bonang’s educational thought in relation to the principles of modern Islamic education. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research explores Sunan Bonang’s educational ideas and practices through historical and contextual analysis, emphasizing the integration of local culture, arts, and tasawuf teachings. The findings reveal that Sunan Bonang developed an educational method that combined sufistic values with local artistic expressions, such as the use of tembang Jawa as a medium for dakwah and character formation. This strategy reflects a holistic, cultural, and value-based Islamic educational approach. The study concludes that Sunan Bonang’s educational thought holds significant relevance for the development of contemporary Islamic education models that honor local wisdom and foster spiritual character.

Abstract

This study originates from the importance of ontological understanding in the philosophy of Islamic education as a foundation for shaping conceptions of human nature in primary education. The research aims to explore the ontological values underpinning the curriculum of MI Muhammadiyah Sonorejo Sukoharjo and how these values influence character formation and the development of students’ potential. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using a field study approach through interviews, observations, and documentation, which were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that the understanding of humans as spiritual, social, and potential-bearing beings is reflected in the curriculum structure, learning strategies, and character-building approaches. The institution's curriculum is grounded in an ontological foundation that views humans as insan kamil, with an integral educational mission. These findings underscore the significance of developing Islamic primary education curricula rooted in Islamic philosophy to shape holistic individuals both spiritually and socially.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the effectiveness of the Direct Instruction model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), despite its potential to significantly impact students’ cognitive learning outcomes at the senior high school level. The research aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Direct Instruction model on student learning outcomes in PAI and Budi Pekerti for Grade X Phase E at SMA Negeri 15 Padang. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design, involving 71 students divided into experimental and control groups through purposive sampling. Data were collected using test instruments in the form of pretests and posttests, along with teacher questionnaires, and analyzed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test due to non-normal data distribution. The findings indicate a significant effect of the Direct Instruction model on improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes. These results support Rosenshine’s theory, which emphasizes the importance of explicit and systematic instruction in enhancing conceptual understanding. The study concludes that implementing structured instructional models such as Direct Instruction can improve student achievement, particularly in the subject of Islamic Cultural History. The implications include reinforcing the academic literature on the model’s effectiveness in PAI learning contexts and offering practical recommendations for teachers and schools to adopt instructional strategies aligned with the characteristics of the subject matter and learners.
