Abstract

This research aims to design and build a clothing color detection tool with Arduino Nano-based sound output to improve the self-help skills of blind people. The method used is the waterfall model, including the stages of needs analysis, design, implementation, and testing. This tool combines TCS3200 color sensor as input, Atmega328 microcontroller as processing unit, as well as DF Player and Micro SD for sound data processing which is finally displayed through the speaker. In its implementation, the program is made using Arduino IDE to control the color reading and sound output. The test results show that the device is able to accurately detect the color of clothing with a 100% success rate on 10 repeated trials. Tests were carried out on all subsystems, including color sensor input, microcontroller controller, DF Player plant, and speaker output. The resulting tool is portable, flexible, and allows blind people to choose clothes based on color without the help of a third party. Thus, this tool has the potential to support independence in self-help activities and improve the quality of life of users.

Abstract

Poor environmental sanitation is one of the main indicators of slums and has a significant impact on public health. This study aims to analyze (1) the condition of the availability of quality family latrines in the slum area of Campago Ipuh Village, Bukittinggi City, and (2) the impact of poor environmental sanitation conditions on public health in the area. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with a population of 2,169 households, then a sample of 96 households was determined using the Slovin technique. Data collection was conducted through observation, primary survey using questionnaires, and interviews, while data analysis was conducted with the help of ArcGIS software. The results showed that the condition of the availability of quality family latrines and environmental drainage was dominated by private latrines and drainage that were classified as feasible, although drainage was still found that did not meet technical standards, as well as sanitation facilities that needed quality improvement. This condition shows that despite efforts to improve, the quality of sanitation in Campago Ipuh Village still has the potential to have a negative impact on public health. Therefore, it is necessary to improve sanitation infrastructure and strengthen clean and healthy living behaviors.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health is an important aspect that is often overlooked, even though adolescence is a critical phase in emotional and social development. The mental health socialization conducted at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 32 Padang aims to enhance adolescents' understanding of the importance of maintaining mental balance amid academic and social pressures. This activity involves interactive material presentations on the scope of mental health, its influencing factors, stress management strategies, and ways to help friends experiencing mental health disorders. The results of the socialization show that students experienced a significant increase in their awareness of the importance of mental health. They became more capable of recognizing early symptoms of mental disorders and understanding the importance of seeking support from family, friends, or professionals. Positive responses from students and support from the school indicate that this activity successfully built awareness of the importance of mental health in everyday life.

Abstract

This research investigates the differences in Arabic language learning outcomes between students following Curriculum 13 at State Senior High School 2 Deli Serdang and those following the Merdeka Curriculum at State Senior High School 1 Deli Serdang. It aims to determine whether there are statistically significant differences between the two groups. The researcher employed a quantitative method using the ex post facto approach. A sample of 60 students was selected through simple random sampling, with 30 students from each school. Data were collected using an achievement test on the topic of "Hajj and Umrah" in Arabic, as well as interviews and observations. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test due to the data's lack of homogeneity and non-normal distribution, as indicated by normality and homogeneity tests. The analysis, conducted with SPSS 21, revealed a significance value of 0.512, which is greater than 0.05. This indicates that the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected, meaning there is no significant difference in Arabic learning outcomes between students of the two curricula. The study concludes that the limited understanding among teachers regarding the implementation mechanisms of the Merdeka Curriculum contributed to the lack of outstanding learning outcomes. Therefore, it is essential to enhance teacher training and development programs to ensure the effective implementation of the curriculum and to achieve higher levels of proficiency in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

Animated films as entertainment and educational media have strong potential in conveying moral messages and Islamic values. However, there are still few studies that specifically examine the representation of Muslim personality in animation media. This research aims to analyze the representation of the best Muslim personality in I'm The Best Muslim animation based on the perspective of Islamic psychology. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with content analysis approach. Data were collected from several episodes of the animation using an instrument in the form of a coding sheet prepared based on Muslim personality indicators according to Dr. Muhammad Uthman Najati, and validated by two experts (coders). The data analysis technique refers to the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which includes the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that from a total of 19 statements of the best Muslim personality found, the worship aspect is the most dominant category (52.63%), followed by the community relations aspect (31.58%), emotional and compassion aspect (10.52%), and physical aspect (5.26%). The existence of this animation not only serves as a means of entertainment, but also contributes positively in shaping the ideal Muslim character, making it an alternative media in Islamic character education.

Abstract

The development of technology is carried out to support human needs to be more practical in life, one of which is in the field of security. Based on data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency regarding criminal statistics, theft is the most commonly occurring crime in Indonesia. This underpins this research, which aims to develop a building security system by utilizing several components, such as RFID sensors (Radio Frequency Identification), magnetic sensors, NodeMCU microcontroller, buzzer, and the Blynk application on mobile phones to control and receive notifications from the device. The creation of this tool is intended to maximize the use of the Blynk application on mobile phones and synergize with the NodeMCU microcontroller, thus creating a useful, creative, and innovative device. The result of this research is the creation of an intelligent system in the form of building security through a mobile application, which can control and provide warning notifications when the sensor detects unauthorized persons entering the building.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the urgent need to develop an Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum that responds to contemporary challenges—philosophical, psychological, and social. The objective is to identify the essential components and explore relevant models in IRE curriculum development. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, gathering data from books, journals, and relevant academic documents. The analysis was conducted through deductive and comparative techniques. The results indicate that the components of the IRE curriculum include objectives, content/materials, learning strategies, and evaluation, all of which must be arranged systematically and integratively. The curriculum development models suitable for IRE include the administrative model, the grass roots model, and the demonstrative model. In conclusion, a comprehensive understanding of curriculum components and development models is crucial to producing an IRE curriculum that is contextual, adaptive, and relevant to both learners’ needs and societal development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the understanding of milling machining theory and work facilities on the practical performance of eleventh-grade students in the Machining Engineering program at SMK Negeri 1 Lembah Melintang. The method used in this study is quantitative with a correlational approach. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and the distribution of questionnaires, then analyzed using simple regression and multiple regression. The results indicate a positive relationship between the understanding of milling machining theory and practical performance in milling machining, with a correlation coefficient of 0.357. Work facilities also show a positive relationship with practical performance, with a correlation coefficient of 0.242. Additionally, the results of the multiple regression analysis indicate that the understanding of milling machining theory and work facilities together positively relate to practical performance in milling machining, with a correlation coefficient of 0.402. The effective contribution of both variables to practical performance is 16%, with a relative contribution of understanding theory at 11.5% and work facilities at 4.5%. These findings suggest that improving theoretical understanding and providing adequate work facilities can enhance students' practical performance in milling.

Abstract

Holistic, contextual, and futuristic learning is an educational concept that emphasizes the integration of intellectual, emotional, social, and technological aspects in the learning process. The holistic approach aims to develop students' potential comprehensively, while contextual learning ensures that the material studied is relevant to everyday life. Meanwhile, futuristic learning focuses on innovation and technological advancements to prepare students for future challenges. This article examines the application of these three approaches in modern education systems and the challenges faced in their implementation. By adopting an integrated learning strategy, students are expected to gain deeper understanding and skills that align with contemporary demands.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students due to the lack of active involvement in the learning process, which is still centered on the teacher. The purpose of this research is to describe the improvement in student learning outcomes in the IPAS lessons on the topic "Landforms and Their Utilization Related to Professions" using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in grade IV at SDN 01 Sungai Jariang, Agam Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used tests and non-tests, with research subjects including the classroom teacher as the practitioner, the researcher as the observer, and 24 students from grade IV. The results of the study indicate an improvement in each observed aspect, where the design of the teaching module increased from 83.3% (B) in cycle I to 95.8% (SB) in cycle II. Teacher and student activities also improved from 78.5% (C) to 96.42% (SB), while the assessment of attitudes showed a decrease in students exhibiting negative behavior. The average learning outcomes from the aspects of knowledge and skills increased from 74.28 (C) to 86.33 (B). Thus, the application of the PBL model has been proven to enhance student learning outcomes in IPAS lessons.
