Abstract

Although teachers’ social competence has received attention in various educational studies, research that specifically highlights the development of the social competence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers within educational interactions grounded in Islamic values in school settings remains limited. This study aims to explore the forms of social competence demonstrated by PAI teachers, the strategies employed to develop it, and the challenges encountered in building effective and humanistic educational interactions in schools. The study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving ten PAI teachers selected through purposive sampling based on their experience and active involvement in PAI teaching. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and were systematically analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings show that PAI teachers’ social competence is reflected in their ability to engage in dialogical interpersonal communication, their social sensitivity and empathy toward students, and their social role modeling in daily attitudes and behavior. The development of this competence is pursued through continuous reflection, personal approaches, and collaboration with school stakeholders, despite structural challenges such as time constraints and the complexity of students’ characteristics. These findings contribute to the development of teacher social competence theory by underscoring the importance of integrating Islamic values into educational interaction practices, while also broadening understanding of the role of PAI teachers as agents of moral and social development in schools. The study concludes by emphasizing the urgency of strengthening the social competence of PAI teachers to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education, and encourages schools and education policymakers to design more holistic and sustainable teacher professional development programs. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to enriching the literature on Islamic education and practical implications for educational institutions in enhancing the quality of value-based learning, as well as opening avenues for further research on the impact of PAI teachers’ social competence on learning outcomes and students’ character formation.

Abstract

Although the integration of technology and local culture in education has received considerable attention in various studies, systematic reviews that specifically map research trends on ethnoscience-based physics e-modules remain limited. This study aimed to analyze research trends on ethnoscience-based physics e-modules in the 2015–2025 period by highlighting publication patterns, research methods, and the cultural contexts examined. A qualitative approach was employed with a systematic literature review (SLR) design guided by the PRISMA protocol on 100 documents retrieved from Google Scholar, which were analyzed using bibliometric analysis and content analysis. The findings show a significant increase in the number of publications, peaking in 2023–2024, with the majority published as SINTA-indexed journal articles. The most dominant research method was research and development (R&D) (59%), while the cultural elements most frequently integrated originated from Sumatra (55%), whereas regions such as Lombok, Papua, and Kalimantan remained relatively underrepresented. These findings contribute to the development of culturally responsive pedagogy theory and broaden understanding of the integration of educational technology within diverse cultural contexts. The study concludes that ethnoscience-based e-modules constitute a growing and strategic field of inquiry and encourages researchers, educators, and curriculum developers to design e-modules that integrate understudied local wisdom using more diverse research methodologies. The implications of this study include the formulation of a roadmap for future research and practical guidelines for developing inclusive and locally relevant digital teaching materials, while also opening opportunities for further exploration of the long-term effects of ethnoscience e-modules on higher-order thinking skills and their scalability across various educational settings.

Abstract

Wayang Beber is one of the cultural heritages of Nusantara that functions not only as a performative medium, but also as a space for expressing values, collective memory, and social criticism. This study aims to examine Wayang Beber as a medium of social criticism that reflects the realities of community life, particularly in the context of social change, power relations, and cultural dynamics. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive–analytical method through literature study, performance observation, and visual and narrative analysis of Wayang Beber story fragments. The findings show that Wayang Beber contains visual symbols and narrative structures that serve as a medium of critique against social inequality, the degradation of human values, and power relations within society. Such criticism is conveyed symbolically, satirically, and reflectively, enabling it to be accepted across generations without losing its depth of meaning. This study affirms that Wayang Beber cannot be understood merely as a cultural artefact of the past, but rather as a form of cultural education and a living medium of social criticism that links tradition with contemporary realities and functions as a vehicle of cultural resistance against the homogenization of modernity. Accordingly, Wayang Beber has strategic potential as a space for social dialogue and critical reflection in cultural development and the strengthening of public awareness.

Abstract

This development research aimed to describe the levels of validity and practicality of an ethnoscience-based practicum e-module on salt hydrolysis in salted egg production developed for senior high school students. The study employed a research and development (R&D) method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate), involving 33 Grade XI MIA 5 students of SMAN 8 Mataram in the 2024/2025 academic year as trial subjects. The validity of the e-module was assessed by three validators using Aiken’s V index and obtained a value of V = 0.88, indicating that the ethnoscience-based practicum e-module on salt hydrolysis in salted egg production is highly valid and suitable for use. The practicality of the e-module was measured through student response questionnaires and showed positive responses, with an average practicality score of 91% across all evaluated aspects. These findings indicate that the developed ethnoscience-based practicum e-module meets the criteria of validity and practicality and can be used as a supporting medium in the learning process, particularly for salt hydrolysis material.

Abstract

Although the practice of ritual prayer has been extensively discussed in Islamic studies, research that specifically examines the social dimension of prayer from a hadith perspective as a means of fostering solidarity and ukhuwah Islamiyyah remains relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze and describe the social dimension of prayer based on the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad and its implications for strengthening solidarity and brotherhood among Muslims. A qualitative approach was employed using a library research design grounded in thematic hadith analysis. The data consisted of authentic hadiths related to prayer, particularly congregational prayer, collected from major hadith compilations and classical and contemporary hadith commentaries. These data were gathered through documentation techniques and analyzed thematically to identify the social values embedded within them. The findings indicate that prayer, especially congregational prayer, possesses a strong social dimension in cultivating collective awareness, social equality, shared discipline, empathy, and mutual care among Muslims. Hadiths on the virtues of congregational prayer, the command to straighten and close the rows, and the parable of believers as one body affirm the function of prayer as a collective ritual that reinforces social solidarity and ukhuwah Islamiyyah. These results demonstrate that prayer is not solely oriented toward individual piety but also plays a strategic role in shaping social piety. The study concludes by underscoring the importance of a comprehensive understanding and practice of prayer as an instrument for nurturing harmonious social relations, while offering theoretical contributions to the development of interdisciplinary hadith studies and practical implications for Islamic religious and educational institutions in strengthening solidarity and ukhuwah Islamiyyah.

Abstract

Human resource (HR) policies in education play a strategic role in ensuring the quality and equity of national education; however, their implementation across different levels of governance still shows disparities that need to be systematically examined. This study aimed to analyze the forms, challenges, and strengthening strategies of education HR policies implemented at the national, regional, and institutional levels. A qualitative approach was employed through a literature study and policy analysis of official government documents, institutional reports, and relevant academic literature. The findings show that national policies such as teacher certification, curriculum reform, and training delivered through digital platforms have provided direction for the development of education human resources, but their implementation remains uneven. There are significant differences in teacher certification rates, access to professional development, and teacher distribution, particularly between urban areas and disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. At regional and institutional levels, limited managerial capacity, budgetary disparities, and weak coordination across policy levels contribute to the low effectiveness of implementation. The study concludes that education HR policies are not yet fully integrated or equitable, thus requiring strengthening in both design and implementation. The implications highlight the importance of data-driven planning, the expansion of digital-based teacher training, enhanced cross-stakeholder collaboration, and the application of performance-based incentive systems to improve the quality and sustainability of education HR policies.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is a fundamental basic competence for elementary school students in responding to the challenges of everyday life. However, the implementation of numeracy instruction in elementary schools still tends to focus on procedural skills and has not fully developed reasoning abilities in accordance with the demands of the Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum (AKM), as reflected in students’ low ability to solve context- and reasoning-based numeracy problems. This study aimed to analyze the numeracy literacy profile of elementary school students based on the AKM framework. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach supported by quantitative data was employed, conducted at SD 50 Bonto Panno, Pangkep Regency, with 25 Grade V students as participants. Data were collected through an AKM-based numeracy literacy test, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed by categorizing students’ abilities according to the AKM content, context, and cognitive levels, namely understanding, applying, and reasoning. The results showed that most students demonstrated a moderate level of numeracy literacy; they were relatively capable at the understanding level but experienced difficulties at the applying and reasoning levels, particularly in items with scientific and data contexts. The findings conclude that there is a need to strengthen numeracy instruction oriented toward contextual problem solving and mathematical reasoning. The implications of this study are expected to serve as a reference for teachers and schools in designing numeracy learning strategies aligned with the AKM framework.

Abstract

Although the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers has been the focus of numerous previous studies, research that specifically examines the kunjung karya method as an instrument for developing PAI teacher professionalism remains relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the contribution of implementing the kunjung karya method to enhancing the professionalism of PAI teachers, particularly in the aspects of lesson planning, instructional implementation, and learning evaluation. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving one PAI teacher and students at SMPN 2 Rambatan selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation of learning devices, and were then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the implementation of the kunjung karya method encourages PAI teachers to design instruction more systematically, to conduct active, collaborative, and student-centered learning, and to carry out comprehensive and reflective learning evaluation. These results contribute to strengthening teacher professionalism theory that emphasizes reflective practice and active-collaborative learning, while also broadening understanding of PAI teacher professionalism development based on classroom practice. The study concludes that the kunjung karya method is an important pedagogical strategy and a vehicle for professional development for PAI teachers, with theoretical implications for teacher professionalism studies and practical implications for teachers, schools, and education supervisors in improving the quality of PAI instruction, as well as opening opportunities for further research in broader contexts and methodological designs.

Abstract

Although the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) educators’ personality has received attention in previous studies, research that specifically examines strategies for developing PAI educators’ personality and its direct implications for the learning process in formal educational settings remains relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze strategies for developing the personality of PAI educators and their implications for the learning process. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the study involved ten PAI educators and supporting informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and were then examined using thematic analysis. The findings show that strategies for developing the personality of PAI educators are implemented through the habituation of religious values, self-reflection, and continuous professional development. These strategies lead to the creation of a conducive learning climate, the enhancement of the quality of pedagogical interactions, and positive student responses during the learning process. The findings contribute to the development of theoretical perspectives on educators’ personality competence within Islamic education and broaden understanding of the role of teacher personality as a strategic factor in PAI learning. The study concludes that systematic and continuous development of PAI educators’ personality is essential and encourages educational institutions and policymakers to design teacher development programs that integrate pedagogical, professional, and personality dimensions. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to enriching the literature on Islamic education and practical implications for schools and educational institutions in improving the quality of PAI learning, while also opening opportunities for further exploration of institutionally grounded intervention models for developing the personality of PAI educators.

Abstract

The implementation of inclusive education in regular elementary schools still faces various challenges, particularly in accommodating the learning needs of students with hearing impairments. This study aimed to describe the role of classroom teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments. A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design was employed, with data collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the Grade IV classroom teacher, the principal, and parents at SDN Wonokerto 1. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings show that the teacher assumes three essential roles: as a learning facilitator through the use of adaptive visual strategies, as a social mediator who fosters empathy and interaction among students, and as an active collaborator with parents and the school. Although facing challenges such as limited mastery of sign language and insufficient supporting facilities, the teacher demonstrates strong dedication and initiative in inclusive teaching practices. This study has implications for strengthening understanding of inclusive education practices in elementary schools and underscores the importance of teacher professional development to support their role in creating a learning environment that is welcoming for students with hearing impairments.
