Abstract

The recruitment of Government Employees with Work Agreements (Pegawai Pemerintah dengan Perjanjian Kerja, PPPK) is one of the government’s strategic instruments for meeting the needs of professional and competent civil servants (Aparatur Sipil Negara, ASN) within local governments; however, in practice it still faces various challenges in terms of planning, coordination, and the ability to adapt to regulatory changes and digital systems. This study aims to analyze the capacity of the Regional Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia, BKPSDM) of Pesisir Selatan Regency in the PPPK recruitment process by using Duncan’s organizational effectiveness theory as presented in Steers, which includes the dimensions of goal attainment, integration, and adaptation. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with key informants and document studies related to the PPPK recruitment process. The findings show that BKPSDM’s capacity in PPPK recruitment is relatively effective; the dimensions of goal attainment and integration have functioned fairly well, as reflected in ASN workforce planning based on Job Analysis and Workload Analysis, transparent selection implementation through the Computer Assisted Test (CAT) system, and intensive coordination with central agencies and local government units. However, in the adaptation dimension, several constraints remain, including limited regional budgets, human resource readiness, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and dependence on national systems that are frequently subject to change. The study concludes that PPPK recruitment in Pesisir Selatan Regency has not yet been fully optimal and that strengthening the organization’s adaptive capacity is required to maintain the effectiveness of PPPK recruitment on a sustainable basis.

Abstract

Studies of Muslim religious practice have largely relied on theological and normative perspectives, while analyses based on sociological approaches that treat religious practice as a social phenomenon remain relatively limited. This study aims to analyze the forms of religious practice among Muslims, identify the social factors that influence these practices, and explain the relevance of a sociological approach for understanding the dynamics of religiosity in society. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 15 participants selected through purposive sampling, consisting of religious leaders and members of the Muslim community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis through the stages of data reduction, coding, categorization, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that Muslim religious practice manifests in two main dimensions: ritual practice (congregational prayer, recitation of the Qur’an, and study circles) and social practice (charitable giving, gotong royong, and community-based religious activities). Family, social environment, religious education, and the role of religious leaders were found to be key determinants shaping patterns of religious practice, while variations in the intensity of practice were influenced by personal conditions such as level of busyness and access to religious activities. These results affirm that religious practice is the outcome of dynamic interaction between individuals and surrounding social structures, and thus a sociological approach is relevant and necessary for understanding the forms of Muslim religiosity more comprehensively. Theoretically, this study enriches the body of knowledge in the sociology of religion, while practically it provides a basis for religious institutions to design more contextual guidance programs and opens avenues for further research on the impact of modernization and digital media on the transformation of religious practice.

Abstract

Studies on Muslim religious practices have been widely conducted; however, research that specifically examines local Islamic traditions through an anthropological lens remains limited, as most previous studies have focused on the normative dimensions of religious doctrine and have not extensively explored the symbolic meanings and socio-cultural functions of local religious traditions. This study aims to describe the forms of local Islamic traditions, analyze the religious meanings embedded within them, and explain their socio-cultural functions in community life. A qualitative approach with an ethnographic design was employed, involving religious leaders, customary leaders, and community members selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis through the stages of coding, categorization, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that local Islamic traditions continue to be actively practiced in various forms of ritual and social–religious activities, which are understood as media for strengthening religious values, preserving cultural identity, and fostering social solidarity. The continuity of these traditions is shaped by religious understanding, cultural commitment, and the dynamics of modernization faced by the community. These results contribute to the anthropology of religion by clarifying the relationship between Islam and local culture and affirm that local Islamic traditions play a strategic role in maintaining social harmony and communal religiosity. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the development of Islam Nusantara scholarship and practical implications for stakeholders in formulating strategies to preserve traditions grounded in local wisdom.

Abstract

The integration of pedagogy, educational technology, and assessment has been extensively discussed in English language learning research; however, instructional design frameworks that systematically align these three components to support meaningful English language learning remain limited. This study aimed to develop an integrated instructional design framework that bridges pedagogical strategies, technology integration, and assessment practices in the context of English language learning. A conceptual qualitative approach was employed through an integrative literature review and systematic document analysis. The data sources comprised reputable journal articles, academic books, systematic reviews, and international policy documents published between 2010 and 2025, which were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results identified five main themes, namely learner-centered pedagogy, authentic learning activities, the functions of interactive technology, formative and authentic assessment, and integrated instructional design. The findings indicate that meaningful English language learning consistently emerges when learning objectives, learning activities, technology use, and assessment methods are coherently integrated within a structured instructional design. This study provides a theoretical contribution by positioning meaningful learning as an integrated instructional system and a practical contribution in the form of a framework to support lesson planning and curriculum development. The findings underscore the importance of coherence in instructional design for enhancing communicative competence, learning engagement, and the sustainability of English language learning outcomes.

Abstract

Adityawarman Museum, as a government institution and an educational and cultural tourism destination in Padang City, has faced the dual challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and increasing demands for modernized management, thereby requiring systematic transformation efforts. This study aimed to analyze the role and strengthening of Adityawarman Museum’s functions as an educational and cultural tourism destination in Padang City during the 2019–2024 period. The research employed a historical method comprising the stages of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were obtained from museum archives, policy documents, activity reports, interviews, and field observations. The results show that the strengthening of Adityawarman Museum’s role and function as a tourism destination involves not only physical improvements but also enhanced institutional governance, updated exhibition design, collection development, the use of digital technology, and the development of educational and cultural programs. In the post-pandemic period, there has been an increase in museum visits as well as greater community participation. The study concludes that Adityawarman Museum has actively enhanced its functions and roles as a tourism destination, as evidenced by increased visitor numbers, the awarding of the Museum Lestari accolade in 2023, and its upgraded qualification to Type A Museum status in 2022, thereby reinforcing its position as a center of education, cultural preservation, and tourism.

Abstract

Epistemic scientific education has been widely discussed in various studies; however, research that specifically examines students’ epistemic scientific education practices in the context of outstanding Madrasah Aliyah remains limited. This study aimed to explore and describe how epistemic scientific education is developed and practiced by students in the process of scientific writing at Madrasah Aliyah Unggulan K.H. Abd. Wahab Hasbulloh (MAUWH). A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving students and scientific writing supervisors selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis of students’ scientific papers, then analyzed qualitatively to identify patterns of learning and habituation of scientific practices. The findings show that students’ epistemic scientific abilities are formed through individually conducted learning and scientific writing processes, in which students are trained to formulate problems, trace scientific sources, and construct arguments systematically. These results contribute to the development of epistemic scientific education theory and broaden understanding of the practical implementation of epistemic scientific learning in the madrasah context. The study concludes that learning and habituation of scientific practices play a crucial role in shaping students’ epistemic abilities and recommends the strengthening of research-based learning in Madrasah Aliyah. The implications enrich the literature on epistemic scientific education and provide practical guidance for Islamic educational institutions in developing scientifically oriented learning, while also opening opportunities for further studies on more comprehensive mapping of students’ levels of epistemic scientific ability.

Abstract

Elections are the primary instrument for implementing democracy and require public participation and political awareness, particularly among first-time voters, while low levels of political literacy in this group remain a challenge to realizing high-quality elections. This study aimed to analyze the role of education and outreach conducted by the North Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta Utara) in enhancing the awareness of new voters through voter education programs at the senior and vocational high school (SMA/SMK) level. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. The findings show that the voter education programs organized by KPU Jakarta Utara contributed to increasing students’ understanding of democratic values, voters’ rights and obligations, and the importance of participation in elections. The delivery of material in an interactive and contextual manner encouraged active participant engagement and helped foster a critical attitude toward electoral information. Although constraints were found, such as the influence of information circulating on social media and the varying characteristics of participants, the program was considered fairly effective in building the political awareness of first-time voters. These findings underscore that voter education in schools is a strategic effort to shape voters who are aware, critical, and responsible in the electoral democratic process.

Abstract

Village community empowerment based on local potential is an important strategy for enhancing self-reliance and economic resilience, including in Sobo Village, Pacitan Regency, which has fertile land but whose residents remain dependent on rainfed agriculture and seasonal livestock farming. This study aims to describe the implementation of community empowerment policies through coffee cultivation as an alternative livelihood diversification option. It employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, using data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving village officials, students of the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program from ISIMU, and beneficiary community members. The findings show that the distribution of coffee seedlings and the provision of technical assistance fostered active community participation, encouraged the productive use of home yards, and opened opportunities for long-term income improvement. Although doubts remain regarding short-term economic benefits, coffee cultivation has potential as an empowerment policy instrument that supports the strengthening of village economic resilience. These findings underscore the importance of optimizing local potential and reinforcing empowerment policies as the basis for sustainable village economic development.

Abstract

Traditional Minangkabau weaving has been widely studied from symbolic and historical perspectives, yet research highlighting the role of individual artisans as key agents of cultural preservation at the community level remains limited. This study aims to analyze the role of Jumatul Khaira in preserving weaving culture in Balai Cacang over the period 1975–2024. It employs a qualitative approach with a historical research method and a descriptive-historical design, involving purposively selected participants including the principal artisan, customary leaders, family members, and local community members. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, literature review, and documentation, and were analyzed using source criticism and interpretive synthesis. The findings show that cultural preservation has been carried out through hands-on weaving practice, the use of digital media as a means of cultural exposure, and social and customary collaboration; however, the regeneration of weavers has not proceeded effectively due to economic factors, social perceptions, and limited ongoing training. These findings underscore the importance of individual actors in sustaining intangible cultural heritage and provide practical implications for the formulation of preservation strategies based on community empowerment and the strengthening of the creative economy at the local level.

Abstract

A conducive learning environment is a key factor in fostering students’ learning interest, particularly in Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI; Islamic Religious Education). However, preliminary observations at UPTD SMPN 3 in Harau Subdistrict, 50 Kota Regency, revealed various learning environment problems, such as inadequate classroom conditions, noise, low levels of cooperation among students, and limited emotional closeness between teachers and students, all of which may reduce learning interest. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the learning environment on the learning interest of eighth-grade students in PAI lessons. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed, with a population of 140 eighth-grade students and a sample of 35 students selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and documentation, and were analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, linearity test, t-test, and coefficient of determination. The results show that the learning environment has a significant effect on students’ learning interest, as indicated by a calculated t-value of 2.948 greater than the critical t-value of 1.697 and a significance value of 0.003 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.347 indicates that the learning environment contributes 34.7% to students’ learning interest, while the remaining proportion is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. The study concludes that a conducive learning environment plays an important role in enhancing students’ learning interest in PAI. The implications highlight the importance of the roles of teachers and schools in creating a comfortable, interactive learning environment that supports active student engagement to optimize learning interest and participation.
