Abstract

Students’ readiness to complete their final project is determined not only by academic ability but is also influenced by organizational experience and citizenship skills. This study aimed to examine the effect of students’ active participation in student organizations and civic skills on their readiness to complete their final project. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed involving FKIP Untirta students who were active in Hima PPKn, DPM, and UKM Belistra in the 2025 period, using stratified random sampling. The results of the analysis showed a significant effect of student organizational involvement and civic skills on students’ readiness to complete their final project, as indicated by significance values of 0.010 < 0.05 for organizational involvement and 0.000 < 0.05 for civic skills, as well as t-values for X₁ of 2.627 > t-table 1.65787 and for X₂ of 5.927 > t-table 1.65787. The coefficient of determination (adjusted R²) of 0.537 indicates that the two independent variables explain 53.7% of the variance in students’ readiness to complete their final project, while the standardized coefficients beta show that civic skills (0.543) have a stronger effect than student organizational involvement (0.241). These findings conclude that active participation in student organizations and civic skills have a positive influence on students’ readiness to complete their final project at FKIP Untirta and highlight the importance of strengthening organizational experiences and citizenship skills within student development programs and final project supervision.

Abstract

The low level of students’ poetry writing ability, caused by limited ideas, a lack of direct experience, and the use of ineffective instructional models, highlights the need for innovative learning approaches in Indonesian language teaching. Poetry writing instruction that tends to be overly theoretical makes it difficult for students to express their experiences and feelings in literary form. This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the experiential learning model on the poetry writing ability of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 36 Medan. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed on a sample of 30 eighth-grade students. Data were collected through poetry writing tests administered before and after the treatment, and were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests to examine differences in students’ poetry writing ability before and after the implementation of the instructional model. The results showed an improvement in poetry writing ability following the application of the experiential learning model, as evidenced by a t-calculated value greater than the t-table value at the 0.05 significance level, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. The improvement was evident in aspects of diction, imagery, clarity of content, and use of figurative language. The study concludes that the experiential learning model has a significant effect on students’ poetry writing ability and indicates that experience-based learning is effective as an alternative instructional model for teaching poetry writing to enhance students’ creativity and expressive skills.

Abstract

Although elementary school principals’ leadership practices have been widely examined, studies that simultaneously test the effects of transformational and distributed leadership on students’ academic and non-academic achievement in the Indonesian context, particularly in Barru Regency, remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the influence of principals’ transformational and distributed leadership on the academic and non-academic achievement of elementary school students in Barru Regency. The research was conducted from October to November 2025 using a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design, involving 210 teachers from 15 public elementary schools selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires and documentation of students’ academic scores and non-academic achievements, and were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The measurement model results showed that all indicators met the validity and reliability criteria (outer loading > 0.70; AVE > 0.50; CR > 0.70). The structural model yielded R² values of 0.64 for academic achievement and 0.58 for non-academic achievement. Hypothesis testing indicated that transformational leadership had a significant effect on academic achievement (β = 0.45; p < 0.001) and non-academic achievement (β = 0.32; p < 0.001), while distributed leadership also had a significant effect on academic achievement (β = 0.29; p < 0.001) and non-academic achievement (β = 0.41; p < 0.001). These findings contribute to the development of educational leadership theory by integrating visionary transformational leadership and collaborative distributed leadership in the comprehensive enhancement of learning outcomes. The study concludes that the synergy of these two leadership approaches plays an important role in improving students’ academic and non-academic achievement and recommends strengthening principal leadership development programs in Barru Regency.

Abstract

Curriculum reform in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has attracted significant scholarly attention in recent years; however, comprehensive studies that systematically integrate curriculum approaches and development models within a unified analytical framework remain limited. This study aims to analyze the dominant approaches and curriculum development models in PAI and to examine their interrelationship in responding to contemporary educational challenges. Employing a qualitative approach with a library research design, the study draws on primary and secondary academic sources related to curriculum theory and Islamic education, which were examined using an interactive content analysis process involving data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that four major approaches—academic subject, humanistic, social reconstruction, and technological—shape the philosophical orientation of PAI curriculum development. In addition, classical models such as those of Tyler and Taba remain structurally relevant, while contemporary models, including competency-based, integrative, and school-based curriculum development, provide adaptive and contextual frameworks for current educational needs. The study concludes that effective PAI curriculum development requires a hybrid model that integrates epistemological stability with methodological flexibility. The implications include theoretical clarification of the relationship between curriculum approaches and models, as well as practical recommendations for curriculum developers and policymakers to design adaptive, competency-oriented, and value-based PAI curricula in Indonesia.

Abstract

Although active learning methods have been widely examined in educational research, the effect of the brainstorming method on learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the junior high school level, particularly in schools located in non-urban areas, remains relatively underexplored. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the brainstorming method on students’ learning outcomes in the Islamic Religious Education subject at SMP N 1 Gunuang Omeh Subdistrict. A quantitative approach was employed with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a Static Group Comparison Design, involving 40 eighth-grade students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using an objective multiple-choice test and analyzed with the nonparametric Mann–Whitney U test after normality and homogeneity tests were conducted. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p = 0.003 < 0.05), where the experimental group taught using the brainstorming method obtained a mean score of 83.40 with an 85% mastery level, while the control group taught using conventional methods obtained a mean score of 74.10 with a 55% mastery level. These findings reinforce constructivist and social learning theories in the context of Islamic Religious Education and confirm that the implementation of active learning strategies based on brainstorming is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes. The study recommends that Islamic Religious Education teachers further integrate the brainstorming method into classroom practice as part of developing student-centered learning, and encourages subsequent research to examine the impact of this method on affective and psychomotor domains.

Abstract

Gross motor development in early childhood is important because it forms the foundation for locomotor skills, coordination, and balance, while studies that specifically examine the implementation of a rhythm-based rope-jumping game with jump heights safely modified for children aged 4–5 years in the context of kindergarten learning remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of a rhythmic rope-jumping game on the gross motor development of children aged 4–5 years at Kemala Bhayangkari Kindergarten. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, involving 20 children consisting of 10 children in the experimental class and 10 children in the control class selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using performance tests and checklist-based observations of gross motor indicators covering movement in rhythm, coordination, balance, and agility, and were then analyzed through prerequisite tests of normality and homogeneity, followed by an independent-samples t-test and Cohen’s d effect size. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (sig. 2-tailed = 0.013), with a higher increase in the mean score in the experimental class, rising from 10.0 to 14.0, compared with the control class, which increased from 9.8 to 12.4, and demonstrated a very strong effect size (d = 2.05). These findings confirm that rhythm-based play activities can be an effective strategy for optimizing children’s gross motor development. Therefore, kindergarten teachers are advised to integrate rhythmic rope-jumping games gradually and safely into classroom learning. The implications of this study include a theoretical contribution to the literature on play-based learning and practical implications for early childhood education and kindergarten institutions, while also opening opportunities for further research on intervention duration and the generalizability of findings across more diverse school contexts.

Abstract

Although MI NU Tarbiyatuth Thullab has implemented an adequate learning system and facilities, students’ discipline and cleanliness remain relatively low, as indicated by preliminary findings in Grade IV showing frequent violations of school regulations and low student participation in religious activities. This study aimed to describe the role of teachers in instilling disciplinary values in Grade IV students at MI NU Tarbiyatuth Thullab. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the principal, teachers, and Grade IV students, while secondary data were collected through documentation of madrasah activities. Data validity was examined through source triangulation, and data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that teachers played a strategic role in instilling disciplinary values through positive habituation, exemplary conduct, and collaboration with parents. These strategies proved effective in fostering responsibility, improving discipline, and cultivating clean and orderly behavior among students. Thus, the role of teachers is highly important in shaping students’ disciplinary character. The implications of this study emphasize the need to strengthen a culture of discipline continuously through collaboration among teachers, the madrasah, and parents so that disciplinary values can be applied consistently in daily life, both within and beyond the madrasah environment.

Abstract

Although the coexistence of Catholicism and African Indigenous Religion (AIR) among Bemba Catholics in Muchinga Province, Zambia, remains underexplored, it often produces religious friction, identity tensions, and frustration in lived religious experience. This study examined the challenges, tensions, and prospects involved in negotiating the dual religiosity of Bemba Catholics who practice Catholicism alongside AIR. Using a qualitative design grounded in hermeneutic phenomenology, the study involved 20 Bemba Catholic participants and drew data from in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and observations. The data were analyzed using Van Manen’s thematic reflection approach. The findings reveal that negotiating dual religiosity presents multiple challenges, including conflicting beliefs, social stigma, excommunication and disciplinary pressures, and tensions between Christian faith and ethno-religious identity. The study also identified inadequate integration of faith and culture, misconceptions and misinterpretations of Bemba traditional beliefs and practices, and resistance to change within the church as key sources of tension. At the same time, the findings indicate prospects for constructive dialogue with the church and personal development among adherents. This study contributes a contextualized understanding of dual religiosity by foregrounding local cultural complexities in the interpretation of religious identity and practice. It concludes that open discussion is necessary to address the tensions surrounding dual religiosity and recommends that the church develop programs to educate both clergy and laity on the cultural relevance of indigenous beliefs and practices.
