Abstract

The low motivation to learn varies depending on the goals to be achieved in the learning process at school. The level of motivation can be seen from the attitude of students during teaching and learning activities. Motivation to learn can arise or change influenced by various factors. According to Dimyati & Mudjiono (2002) factors that influence learning motivation include students' ideals or aspirations, individual abilities, personal conditions, student environment, dynamic elements in the learning process, and teacher efforts in teaching. This study aims to describe: 1) Factors that influence students' low motivation to learn in terms of factors: a. students' ideals or aspirations, b. students' abilities, c. students' conditions, d. students' environmental conditions, e. dynamic elements in learning and teaching, f. teachers' efforts in teaching students. The research sample was 69 students of SMK Pariwisata Aisyiyah Padang in grades X, XI, and XII who were registered in the 2024/2025 academic year who were selected based on the Total Sampling technique. Data were obtained by distributing research instruments in the form of questionnaires on factors that influence low student learning motivation that have been tested for validity and reliability. Abstract

KH. Ahmad Dahlan, as the founder of Muhammadiyah, laid the foundations of Islamic education thinking that is oriented towards progress and renewal, making education an important means of producing a generation that is moral, knowledgeable, and able to face the challenges of the times. His thinking, which emphasizes the integration of religious and general sciences and the relevance of education to social reality, has become the main foundation of Muhammadiyah education until now. This article aims to examine the role and relevance of KH. Ahmad Dahlan's educational thought in the practice of Muhammadiyah education today, especially in facing the era of globalization and rapid technological development. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through library research. The results of the study show that the renewal values promoted by KH Ahmad Dahlan are still the main principles in the curriculum, learning methods, and vision of Muhammadiyah education. The implementation of this thought can be seen in the efforts of Muhammadiyah schools to produce graduates who are not only academically competent, but also have a strong Islamic personality, social spirit, and are ready to contribute to society. Thus, the thought of KH. Ahmad Dahlan not only provides direction for Muhammadiyah education, but also becomes the foundation in the development of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the extent to which the Big Five Personality traits influence suicidal ideation in individuals transitioning into emerging adulthood. A quantitative approach was employed, with a purposive sample of 100 individuals aged 18-25 who had experienced suicidal ideation. Two primary instruments were utilized: the IPIP-BFM-50 scale to measure participants' personality traits on the five dimensions, and the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation to assess the frequency and intensity of suicidal thoughts. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to analyze the data. Results indicated that of the five personality dimensions, only Neuroticism demonstrated a significant relationship with suicide ideation. Specifically, higher scores on the Neuroticism dimension were associated with a greater likelihood of experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Abstract

This research aims to address the issue of environmental pollution caused by household waste, focusing on the community of Gunungsari Village, Batu. The study was conducted through community service activities and raising awareness about the impacts of environmental pollution and ways to mitigate it. The research utilized the Service-Learning methodology by providing information, knowledge, and understanding to the community to address a specific issue. Additionally, an outreach approach was implemented by directly introducing a new innovation—natural detergent made from soapberries (lerak fruit). The community was informed about soapberries, their benefits, and the processing methods to create a natural detergent free from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), which could replace the conventional detergents previously used. The direct community engagement revealed that soapberries had been used by past generations but the knowledge had gradually faded over time as it was not preserved or passed down to subsequent generations. Therefore, it can be concluded that soapberries can indeed be utilized as a base ingredient for producing natural, SLS-free detergent. This innovation is expected to benefit the community.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the impact of extracurricular activities on the academic performance of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Krian, located in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The background of this research highlights the importance of developing a relevant and comprehensive educational vision to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in preparing students to face global challenges. Education should not only serve as a source of knowledge but also foster creativity, work ethic, and broader perspectives in students so that they can make positive contributions to society. In this study, we employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design to evaluate the relationship between students' participation in extracurricular activities (variable X) and their academic performance (variable Y). The research population consisted of 37 Grade X students, selected randomly through a random sampling method. Data collection was conducted using a Google Form-based questionnaire designed with a four-point Likert scale: strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree. Data analysis was performed descriptively to provide an overview of the collected data and inferentially using normality tests and t-tests to assess the relationship between the two variables. The findings of this study are expected to provide new insights into the impact of extracurricular activities on students' academic performance at SMAN 1 Krian. These findings aim to assist the school in designing more effective and comprehensive extracurricular programs that not only enhance students' non-academic potential but also support their academic success. Furthermore, this research is anticipated to make a significant contribution to educational reform in Indonesia, especially in optimizing the role of extracurricular activities as a means of holistic student development. Through a comprehensive approach, this study strives to support the achievement of an educational vision that is relevant, sustainable, and responsive to the challenges of the current era of globalization. Additionally, the results of this research can serve as a reference for schools in creating more inclusive and student-oriented extracurricular programs tailored to the needs of the learners.

Abstract

The Competency-Based Curriculum (KBK) approach is one of the solutions that is expected to be able to answer the needs of the times. However, reality shows that many high school graduates still face challenges in optimally integrating hard skills and soft skills. This study aims to analyze the influence of Competency-Based Curriculum management on the development of soft skills and hard skills competencies of high school graduates. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method to analyze the influence of Competency-Based Curriculum management on the development of soft skills and hard skills of high school graduates. This study shows that the management of the Competency-Based Curriculum (KBK) at the high school level has a significant positive influence on the development of students' soft and hard skills. From the aspect of curriculum management, planning obtained the highest score (85 out of a scale of 100), followed by implementation (80) and evaluation (78), which shows that the school has made optimal efforts in designing and implementing KBK, although the evaluation stage still needs improvement. In the development of soft skills, communication and cooperation skills received the highest scores of 85 and 84, respectively, while leadership and time management obtained scores of 75 and 72. On the other hand, students' mastery of hard skills is also in the good category with the highest score on technology-based skills (86) and the lowest score on analytical skills (74). The results of the linear regression test confirmed that there was a significant positive relationship between KBK management and the mastery of soft skills (regression coefficient 0.65; p < 0.01) and hard skills (regression coefficient 0.59; p < 0.01).
