Abstract

This article examines the role of key Islamic jurisprudential principles as constraints in the application of Islamic law, particularly in situations involving emergencies or conflicting obligations. It focuses on two foundational rules: al-rukhaṣ lā tunāṭ bi al-maʿāṣī (legal relief does not apply to immorality) and al-wājib lā yutraq illā li-wājib (an obligation may not be abandoned except for the sake of another obligation). Through a library-based research method, the study analyzes the meanings, sources, and practical relevance of these principles by discussing contemporary scenarios such as invoking rukhṣah during sinful travel, postponing prayer due to urgent medical duties, and balancing academic commitments with the obligation of Friday prayer. The findings highlight the significance of employing the principles of caution (iḥtiyāṭ) and prioritization (tartīb al-awlawiyyāt) in legal istinbāṭ (derivation). These limiting principles serve to protect the integrity of Sharia from the misuse of emergency concessions while promoting justice, public benefit (maṣlaḥah), and alignment between scriptural texts and real-life contexts. The integration of these rules is essential for formulating contextual Islamic legal responses that remain faithful to ethical and evidentiary foundations of Sharia.

Abstract

The gamis industry, as part of the Muslim fashion sector, has experienced rapid growth over the past decade but has faced significant pressure due to the pandemic and shifting consumer behavior. Amid increasing competition and declining revenue, business actors are required to develop effective promotional and pricing strategies to influence purchasing decisions and enhance customer satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the effects of promotion and price on purchasing decisions, as well as the effect of purchasing decisions on customer satisfaction for gamis products from two local MSMEs: Shofy Collection and Endomoda. A quantitative research method was employed using a survey approach, with 96 purposively selected respondents. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS version 4. The results show that promotion (β = 0.523) and price (β = 0.406) have a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions, while purchasing decisions significantly affect customer satisfaction (β = 0.886). The research model demonstrates high predictive power, with R² values of 0.579 for purchasing decisions and 0.823 for customer satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing digital promotional strategies, adaptively adjusting pricing, and enhancing post-purchase services as strategic efforts to build customer loyalty in the Muslim fashion market.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the availability of the Ludo Kimia educational game for the topic of equilibrium shifts and their influencing factors, which has been proven to be valid and practical, yet its impact on student learning outcomes remains to be determined. The objective of this research is to examine the effect of using the Ludo Kimia game on the learning outcomes of Phase F high school students in the topic of equilibrium shifts. A quasi-experimental method was employed using a posttest-only control group design. The study population consisted of students from classes XI F1, XI F2, XI F3, XI F4, and XI F6 at SMAN 1 Batangkapas. The sample was selected through random sampling and included two classes: the experimental class (XI F2) and the control class (XI F1). Data were obtained from the posttest results and analyzed using a t-test. The analysis revealed that the average cognitive learning outcome score of the experimental class (75.16) was significantly higher than that of the control class (65.16), with a t-value of 3.34 > t-table value of 1.67 at a significance level of α = 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Ludo Kimia game in teaching the topic of equilibrium shifts and their influencing factors has a significant positive effect on improving the learning outcomes of Phase F students.

Abstract

The rapid development of the global economy, including in Indonesia, has encouraged the public to be more selective in choosing financial institutions that meet their individual or organizational fund management needs. In this context, society is faced with the choice between conventional banks and Islamic banks. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the decision of the Muslim community in Dusun Rantau Rasau to use conventional banking services and to explore the reasons behind their non-use of Islamic banks. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through field research. Primary data were obtained through direct interviews and observation, while secondary data were sourced from books, journals, and historical records of Dusun Rantau Rasau. The results reveal that five main factors influence the preference for conventional banks: knowledge, social influence, promotion, culture, and ease of access. Meanwhile, the predominant reasons for not choosing Islamic banks include limited knowledge and minimal promotional exposure. Additionally, informants emphasized that loyalty and a broader understanding of conventional banking services significantly affect their preferences. In conclusion, knowledge stands out as a crucial factor in financial institution selection, followed by loyalty and exposure to promotional strategies.

Abstract

Consumptive behavior among university students has become an increasingly prominent phenomenon, influenced by modern lifestyles and the ease of access to consumer goods. This phenomenon is particularly worth examining among students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, who possess an educational background in Islamic economics. This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic consumption knowledge and lifestyle on students' consumptive behavior. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method, with questionnaires distributed to 96 proportionally selected respondents. Data collection was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire, and data were analyzed through multiple linear regression to test both the partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The results show that both Islamic consumption knowledge and lifestyle have a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior, both partially (significance value < 0.05) and simultaneously, as evidenced by an F-value of 57.353, which exceeds the F-table value. The Adjusted R² value of 0.543 indicates that 54.3% of the variation in consumptive behavior can be explained by the two variables. The study concludes that the greater the students’ understanding of Islamic consumption principles and the stronger the influence of modern lifestyle, the higher their tendency to exhibit consumptive behavior.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing trend of online shopping among university students, influenced by various factors. However, there remains a lack of research that simultaneously examines the relationship between consumptive behavior, social media, and religiosity in shaping purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms. The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of these three variables on the purchasing decisions of students at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi on the Shopee platform. A quantitative approach was used with a correlational survey design. The sample consisted of 99 students selected purposively and proportionally using the Slovin formula and stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through a validated and reliable online Likert-scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 26, involving classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The findings show that, partially, consumptive behavior, social media, and religiosity each have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Simultaneously, the three variables also significantly affect purchasing decisions, with an F-value of 40.705 > F-table value of 2.70 and a significance level of 0.00 < 0.05. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on digital consumer behavior through the lens of religiosity and offers practical insights for developing relevant marketing strategies in the e-commerce era.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low levels of student engagement, critical thinking skills, and learning outcomes in Mathematics among fifth-grade students at SDN Belitung Selatan 2 Banjarmasin. These issues stem from students’ limited critical thinking abilities, low participation during lessons, and the use of instructional methods that are neither engaging nor enjoyable. To address these challenges, the BERSAMA learning model was implemented. The objectives of this research are to: (1) improve students’ learning activity; (2) enhance critical thinking skills; and (3) analyze learning outcomes following the application of the BERSAMA model. A qualitative approach was employed using Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted over four sessions. The study involved 20 students during the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activity, assessments of students' critical thinking skills, and both individual and group learning outcomes tests. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques and presented in tables and graphs with percentages. The results showed significant improvement: teacher activity scores increased from 21 (“Good”) to 27 (“Very Good”); student activity rose from 50% (“Few Students Active”) to 100% (“All Students Highly Active”); critical thinking skills improved from 45% (“Few Students Skilled”) to 100% (“All Students Highly Skilled”); and learning mastery increased from 40% (“Few Students Performed Well”) to 90% (“Most Students Performed Very Well”). The study concludes that the BERSAMA model is effective in enhancing teacher and student activity, critical thinking skills, and learning outcomes in Mathematics. The findings recommend the BERSAMA model as an innovative teaching strategy for teachers, school administrators, and elementary education researchers.

Abstract

Tafaquh fiddin in Islamic scholarship emphasizes the importance of comprehensive understanding and deepening of religious knowledge. This study aims to explore the meaning of tafaquh fiddin through the lenses of intellectual and spiritual jihad and assess its relevance to contemporary Muslim life. Employing a qualitative methodology, the research utilizes a literature review encompassing Qur’anic verses, hadith, and classical and modern Islamic texts. The findings reveal that tafaquh fiddin extends beyond theoretical religious study to embody a form of jihad that integrates the expansion of Islamic insight with the practical implementation of religious values in daily life. The study concludes that tafaquh fiddin serves as a critical foundation for cultivating intellectually, morally, and spiritually resilient Muslims, thereby maintaining its significance in addressing contemporary challenges. Abstract

Amid the rise of consumerism, the minimalist lifestyle has gained prominence as a contemporary alternative advocating simplicity and meaningful living. This study critically examines minimalism through the lens of two fundamental Islamic ethical concepts: asceticism (zuhud) and contentment (rida), with the Qur’an serving as the normative foundation. Employing a qualitative literature review and tafsir mawdhu'i (thematic exegesis) methodology, the research compares the convergences and divergences between minimalism and these Islamic principles. The analysis reveals that while both minimalism and Islamic asceticism advocate reducing possessions and avoiding waste, they differ fundamentally in philosophy, motivation, and ultimate purpose. Modern minimalism is predominantly anthropocentric, prioritizing individual happiness and worldly freedom, whereas asceticism and contentment are grounded in a theocentric framework aimed at attaining divine pleasure and eternal joy in the hereafter. The study concludes that integrating the values of asceticism and contentment provides a holistic and spiritually transformative paradigm capable of addressing materialism more comprehensively.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the availability of an Android-based Snakes and Ladders Chemistry educational game on the topic of acids and bases, which has been proven valid, practical, and effective yet its influence on students' cognitive learning outcomes remains unexplored. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of using this media on the cognitive learning outcomes of Phase F senior high school students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a Post-test Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of all Grade XI Phase F students at SMA Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung, with random sampling used to select XI Chemistry 1 as the control group and XI Chemistry 2 as the experimental group. The instrument used was a cognitive learning outcome test. Data analysis included normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing using a t-test. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 75.7, while the control class scored 62.5. The t-test result indicated that tcount (2.89) > ttable (1.70) at a significance level of α = 0.05, meaning that the use of the media had a significant effect on learning outcomes. The study concludes that the Android-based Snakes and Ladders Chemistry game positively influences students’ cognitive learning outcomes in the topic of acids and bases.
