Abstract

The implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in vocational education plays a strategic role in improving the quality of educational services and institutional performance; however, empirical studies that specifically examine its contribution to achieving “excellent” accreditation status in vocational high schools remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the application of TQM principles and their contribution to supporting excellent accreditation at SMKS Bina Mandiri Gorontalo. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving the principal, vice principals, and teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, documentation, and observations, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that TQM implementation at SMKS Bina Mandiri Gorontalo is reflected in visionary leadership, the involvement of all school members, continuous improvement, a strong focus on student and stakeholder satisfaction, and the quality-oriented management of facilities, infrastructure, and curriculum. These factors contribute significantly to fulfilling national education standards and to the attainment of excellent accreditation, in line with TQM theory that emphasizes a quality culture and continuous improvement in educational organizations. The study concludes that the consistent and systematic application of Total Quality Management can effectively support school quality enhancement and the achievement of excellent accreditation. The findings also carry important implications for strengthening the TQM literature in vocational education and for formulating practical recommendations for school leaders and policymakers to foster a culture of quality, enhance human resource competencies, and reinforce internal quality assurance systems.

Abstract

Although pondok pesantren play a strategic role in the Islamic education system in Indonesia, studies that comprehensively examine pesantren management from an educational management perspective remain relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the management of pondok pesantren in Indonesia with a focus on leadership management, curriculum and instructional management, human resource management, and facilities, infrastructure, and financial management. A qualitative approach with a literature study method was employed. Data were collected through documentation of relevant scientific journal articles, academic books, and research reports published over the last ten years, then analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and main themes related to pesantren management practices. The findings show that pesantren management in Indonesia is still strongly influenced by the central role of the kiai as the main leader with moral and spiritual legitimacy. In terms of curriculum, pesantren demonstrate adaptive capacity through the integration of pesantren and national curricula, although they continue to face challenges in maintaining a balance between deepening Islamic scholarship and developing modern competencies. Human resource management tends to be based on devotion and loyalty, while financial management generally relies on self-funding through student fees, community donations, and pesantren business units. This study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic education management studies by emphasizing the importance of value-based contextual management approaches, as well as a practical contribution as a reference for pesantren administrators and policymakers in strengthening sustainable pesantren governance.

Abstract

The use of innovative instructional media is one of the efforts to improve student learning outcomes, particularly in the Al-Qur’an Hadis subject. However, the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at MTsN 4 Ngawi remain low due to the use of conventional instructional media that are less engaging and do not foster active student involvement, thereby necessitating more interactive learning media. One alternative form of digital instructional media that can be utilized is Educaplay. This study aimed to examine the effect of Educaplay-based instructional media on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students in the Al-Qur’an Hadis subject at MTsN 4 Ngawi. A quantitative approach with an experimental method was employed, using a pre-test and post-test control group design. Data analysis included validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using a t-test with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that at the pre-test stage, the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was 0.413 > 0.05, indicating no significant difference between the two classes before the treatment. At the post-test stage, the significance value was 0.020 < 0.05, so H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted, demonstrating that Educaplay-based instructional media had a significant effect on student learning outcomes. These findings affirm that the use of Educaplay as instructional media can improve learning outcomes and student participation, and therefore it is recommended that students focus more on understanding the material and that teachers adopt Educaplay as an alternative instructional medium, while future studies may broaden the scope of topics and subjects to test the consistency of this medium’s effectiveness.

Abstract

The concept of injustice (ẓulm) in the Al-Qur’an is often understood narrowly as limited to social injustice, whereas semantically and theologically it encompasses broader, multidimensional meanings. The scarcity of studies that specifically analyze the terms al-ẓālimūn and al-ẓālimīn in contemporary exegesis and their relevance to the Indonesian social context constitutes an important academic gap. This study aimed to analyze the meanings of al-ẓālimūn and al-ẓālimīn in the Al-Qur’an based on Wahbah al-Zuḥailī’s interpretation in Al-Tafsīr al-Munīr and to examine their relevance to the Indonesian social context. This qualitative, library-based research employed a thematic exegesis (tafsir tematik/maudhu‘i) approach. The primary data consisted of Qur’anic verses containing these terms along with their interpretation in Al-Tafsīr al-Munīr, while secondary data were drawn from exegetical literature and relevant scholarly journals. The analysis was conducted using a descriptive-analytical procedure through the stages of data reduction, thematic classification, interpretation, and contextualization. The findings show that, according to Wahbah al-Zuḥailī, injustice encompasses three main dimensions: theological injustice (shirk and disbelief), social injustice (rights violations and structural inequality), and moral–spiritual injustice (sin and betrayal of trust), indicating that injustice in the Qur’anic perspective is comprehensive and integrates theological, moral, and social dimensions. This concept carries important implications as an ethical foundation for responding to corruption, legal inequality, and moral crises in Indonesia, as well as serving as a normative framework for Qur’an-based social reform.

Abstract

The managerial capability of madrasah principals plays a strategic role in determining the quality of governance and the effectiveness of decision-making in Islamic educational institutions; however, decision-making practices that are fully grounded in musyawarah (consultative deliberation), rational analysis, and emotional stability of leaders remain suboptimal in many madrasahs. This study aimed to analyze the managerial capability of madrasah principals in the decision-making process and to identify the factors that influence it within the context of Islamic education. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document studies involving the principal and teaching staff at MTs Al-Amanah Al-Gontory. Data credibility was tested using source and method triangulation, while data analysis was conducted thematically through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the principal’s managerial capability is relatively strong in the areas of planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. Decision-making processes are carried out in a participatory manner through musyawarah with teachers, taking into account emotional stability, Islamic leadership values, and institutional sustainability. These findings indicate that strengthening the managerial competence of madrasah principals contributes significantly to decision quality and institutional climate. The study underscores the importance of developing managerial leadership rooted in Islamic values to enhance the effectiveness of madrasah governance in responding to contemporary educational dynamics.

Abstract

Advances in modernization and information technology have brought significant changes to social, cultural, and educational life, particularly as learning is no longer confined to formal institutions but is increasingly supported by broad access to learning resources through the internet and digital media. This condition requires society to use technology wisely and in accordance with digital ethics. This study aimed to analyze social changes resulting from information technology across three dimensions: changes in interaction patterns, community adaptation to digitalization, and the emergence of new social phenomena. The study employed a mixed-methods approach involving 70 respondents consisting of school students, university students, and members of the school community selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected over one month using a 15-item questionnaire with yes/no response options distributed via Google Forms and interviews, and were then analyzed using percentage analysis. The results showed an average score of 91%, which fell into the very good category, although relatively lower scores were found for face-to-face interaction (83%), digital adaptation (86%), and the influencer phenomenon (87%) compared with the other aspects. These findings confirm that information technology drives broad social change, while simultaneously requiring stronger digital literacy and a balance between digital interaction and face-to-face interaction in everyday life.

Abstract

Amid globalization and the rapid expansion of communication technologies, Indonesian Muslim identity is increasingly negotiated within digital environments that reshape religious discourse, authority, and practice. This study aims to examine the dynamic negotiation of Indonesian Muslim identity in the digital era by drawing on Manuel Castells’s concept of the network society, Heidi Campbell’s digital religion framework, and Zygmunt Bauman’s notion of liquid modern life. Using a qualitative analytical-explanatory library research design, the study analyzes primary sources, including books and journal articles on digital media and Indonesian Islam, as well as secondary data from online religious communities, through interpretive discourse analysis. The findings show that digital platforms broaden the public sphere and enable Muslim actors, such as preachers like Felix Siauw and movements such as One Day One Juz (ODOJ), to combine traditional Islamic values with popular culture, visual aesthetics, and algorithmic logic. This process fosters forms of “Popular Islamism,” produces fragmented yet adaptive religious identities, and generates new practices of piety that challenge fixed religious authorities while intensifying contestation and adaptation in the post-Reformasi context. Although social media accelerates the circulation of religious discourse, it also requires new criteria of trust and legitimacy. The study concludes that Indonesian Muslim identity in the digital era is hybrid, adaptive, and resilient, shaped by ongoing technological mediation. These findings contribute to interdisciplinary discussions on digital religious subjectivities and offer practical insight into the dual role of digital media in shaping contemporary faith and society.

Abstract

Although developments in educational technology have driven the need for interactive and practical learning resources, the limited availability of technology-based teaching materials still causes the learning process to not yet run optimally. This study aimed to develop flipbook-based teaching materials for Grade IV IPAS that are feasible for use as a learning resource for students. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The sources of the research data included responses from expert validators, the homeroom teacher, and 31 Grade IV A students at SDN 03 Pontianak Selatan. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires, and were then analyzed descriptively to assess the feasibility of the product. The results showed that Validator I gave an average score of 4.8 with a percentage of 96% and Validator II gave an average score of 4.1 with a percentage of 83%, both of which were in the very good category. The teacher’s response obtained an average score of 4.2 with a percentage of 84%, which was in the very good category. Meanwhile, student responses in the Phase I trial reached 92% and in Phase II reached 93%, both of which were in the very good category. These findings show that the developed flipbook-based teaching materials were declared feasible for use as a learning resource for Grade IV IPAS. This study contributes to the development of interactive digital teaching materials in elementary schools and provides practical implications for teachers in providing learning resources that are more engaging, easily accessible, and suited to learning needs.

Abstract

Although studies on da'wah have been widely conducted, research that specifically integrates geographical, demographic, social, cultural, and religious aspects within a single mapping framework remains limited, especially in Tigo Lurah Subdistrict, Solok Regency. This study aims to describe and analyze the da'wah map as a basis for formulating more effective and contextual da'wah strategies. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The informants consisted of religious leaders, mosque administrators, government officials, and community members who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of da'wah had not yet been optimal, as indicated by limited geographical access, low community participation, especially among the younger generation, the dominance of lecture-based methods that were less varied, and the uneven distribution of da'i. Nevertheless, the community has social potential in the form of togetherness values and religious traditions that can be further developed. These findings contribute to strengthening a social mapping-based approach to da'wah and provide a practical foundation for formulating more contextual da'wah strategies. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of developing more varied da'wah methods and increasing community participation to support the effectiveness of da'wah in the area.

Abstract

Although the problem of moral decline among students has been widely studied, research that specifically integrates teacher professionalism with the values of Adabul ‘Alim wal Muta’allim remains limited. This study aims to analyze the role of teacher professionalism in fostering the moral character of students at Madrasah Diniyah Jabal Nur Beji, Pasuruan. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design involving teachers, administrators, and students selected through purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that teacher professionalism was reflected in pedagogical competence, personality, understanding of student character, lesson planning, as well as the dominant use of role-modeling and habituation methods. The development of moral character was carried out systematically through supervision, the imposition of sanctions, and rewards. These findings affirm the importance of teacher professionalism grounded in adab in character education and contribute to strengthening teacher competence and creating an educational environment that supports the moral formation of students.
