Abstract

The rapid development of the internet and social media has increased young people’s exposure to various forms of religious information, including intolerant content and exclusive religious narratives in digital spaces. This condition requires the strengthening of religious moderation that is appropriate to the characteristics of students in engineering-related disciplines, who have a high intensity of digital interaction. This study aims to evaluate the contribution of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) based on digital visual campaigns to Computer Engineering students’ understanding and interpretation of religious moderation. This study used a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design. The research participants consisted of 45 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and reflective essays after the entire project sequence had been completed. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The results showed that students gave positive responses to the implementation of PjBL and the use of digital visual campaigns in religious moderation learning. A total of 51.1% of respondents strongly agreed and 48.9% agreed that visual media were effective in conveying messages of peace. Students’ reflections showed that intolerance was understood not only as a matter of differences in belief but also as related to disinformation, hate speech, and low digital literacy. Students also interpreted the concept of ummatan wasathan as an encouragement to be fair, critical, and not easily provoked in responding to information on social media. However, 26.7% of respondents gave neutral responses regarding the effectiveness of PjBL compared with the lecture method, indicating that support through conceptual explanation remains necessary in the learning process. These findings show that PjBL based on digital visual campaigns contributes positively to helping students connect the values of religious moderation with religious issues in digital spaces. The implications of this study affirm the importance of integrating digital religious literacy and contextual learning activities into Islamic Religious Education in higher education.

Abstract

The low learning interest of students, influenced by the dominance of lecture methods and conventional learning, became the basis for developing MOTIF, or Educational Fiqh Monopoly, learning media in the Fiqh subject at MA Al-Bairuny. This study aims to produce interactive learning media based on an educational game that can improve students’ engagement and understanding in the Fiqh learning process. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of Grade X students at MA Al-Bairuny. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaire distribution to validators and students. The validation results showed that the MOTIF media obtained a very feasible category based on material expert assessment and a very attractive category based on media expert assessment, indicating that it can be used in learning activities. In addition, the field trial results showed positive student responses to the use of MOTIF media because it was considered capable of creating a more engaging, interactive, and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The conclusion of this study affirms that the development of MOTIF learning media can serve as an innovative alternative in Fiqh learning. The implications of this study indicate that educational game media can encourage students to be more active, motivated, and enthusiastic in understanding Fiqh learning material.

Abstract

Rapid technological development has encouraged the renewal and use of digital media in the learning process, including in the Al-Qur’an Hadith subject. However, Al-Qur’an Hadith learning at MTsN 1 Kediri still faces limitations in interactive learning media that can optimally support students’ understanding. This study aims to develop Thunkable-based MAGIC QUR-DIS interactive learning media to assist the delivery of material and improve students’ understanding in Al-Qur’an Hadith learning. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were students at MTsN 1 Kediri. Data were collected through interviews, media validation, material validation, and student response questionnaires. The results showed that media validation obtained a percentage of 85% in the very valid category, whereas material validation obtained a percentage of 87.5% in the very valid category. Students’ responses to the MAGIC QUR-DIS media reached 91.13% in the very practical category. The conclusion of this study affirms that Thunkable-based MAGIC QUR-DIS media is feasible and practical for supporting Al-Qur’an Hadith learning. The implications of this study indicate that the development of technology-based learning media can serve as an innovative solution for teachers in creating learning that is more engaging, interactive, and able to increase students’ learning interest. Abstract

Although international student mobility programs have been widely implemented by various higher education institutions, studies that specifically discuss their contribution to strengthening perspectives in Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis as well as developing students’ academic and cross-cultural competencies remain relatively limited. This article aims to explore the international academic experiences of students in the Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis Study Program through the International Student Mobility Program held at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This study used a qualitative approach with a reflective case study design, involving one student participant in the program as the main informant. Data were collected through participatory observation, activity documentation, and reflections on experiences during the implementation of the program, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively by examining the academic, social, and cultural experiences gained. The results showed that the international mobility program contributed to broadening students’ academic insights through learning tajwid, hifz al-Qur’an, the Braille Qur’an, international seminars, academic competitions, and interactions with the higher education environment in Malaysia. This program also developed cross-cultural communication skills, social adaptation, public speaking, teamwork, and understanding of inclusive and technology-based Islamic education practices. The experience of facing social, academic, and technical challenges also shaped students’ maturity, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities. The conclusion of this study affirms that International Student Mobility is a strategic means of strengthening students’ academic capacity, Islamic insight, and cross-cultural competencies. The implications of this study provide theoretical contributions to the development of studies on the internationalization of Islamic education and practical contributions for higher education institutions in designing international programs oriented toward strengthening students’ academic and global competencies.

Abstract

Although learning difficulties in Islamic education have been widely examined, studies that specifically discuss teachers’ strategies in overcoming learning difficulties in the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject at the MTs level remain limited. This study aims to describe the forms of students’ learning difficulties, the obstacles faced by teachers, and the strategies implemented by teachers in overcoming learning difficulties in the SKI subject. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving one SKI teacher and three Grade VII students at MTs Darul Ulum Kepuhdoko Jombang as informants selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students experienced difficulties in understanding the chronological sequence of historical events, memorizing the names of figures and years, low reading interest, and lack of concentration during learning. The obstacles faced by the teacher included limited learning media, heterogeneous student abilities, and inadequate learning time. The strategies implemented by the teacher included group discussions, individual and group presentations, repeated practice or drills, motivational approaches, and the use of simple media such as timelines and written summaries. These strategies helped reduce some of students’ learning difficulties, although innovation in learning methods and media is still needed. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of teachers’ strategic creativity in improving the effectiveness of SKI learning. The implications of this study provide theoretical contributions to the development of the literature on Islamic Religious Education learning strategies and practical guidance for teachers and educational institutions in developing more interactive and contextual SKI learning.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers have a strategic role in shaping students’ moral and spiritual development. However, social change, technological development, and symptoms of moral degradation among students require PAI teachers to perform broader roles than merely delivering learning material. This study aims to analyze the role of PAI teachers in shaping students’ morals and character in educational environments. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research design. Data were obtained from books, scientific journals, and academic publications relevant to Islamic education, character education, and moral development, then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results showed that PAI teachers played a role in shaping students’ morals through their functions as educators, role models, mentors, counselors, and facilitators of religious activities. Moral formation was carried out through the habituation of positive behavior, the implementation of religious activities, and the creation of a religious school culture. In addition, collaboration among teachers, parents, and the community also strengthened the effectiveness of character education. The conclusion of this study affirms that the success of students’ moral formation depends not only on the delivery of religious knowledge but also on the exemplary conduct and active involvement of PAI teachers in students’ daily lives. These findings imply the importance of educational institutions’ support for comprehensive character education programs to shape a generation with noble character and a strong spiritual foundation.

Abstract

Although the development of digital learning media in Islamic Religious Education has been widely carried out, studies that specifically integrate Google Sites-based animated music videos for learning the leadership qualities of the Khulafaur Rasyidin in elementary schools remain limited. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility of the Google Sites learning media “PELAN: 4 KM” (Pemimpin Teladan: 4 Khalifah Mulia) on the topic of the leadership qualities of the Khulafaur Rasyidin for Grade 5 elementary school students. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a Design and Development Research (D&D) design through the ADDIE development model. The study involved 20 Grade 5 students of SD Negeri Cikoneng I, one material expert, and one media expert. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the “PELAN: 4 KM” media obtained a very good category from the material expert and media expert and received positive responses from students. The media, which combines animated music videos, digital materials, and interactive quizzes, was able to increase learning interest and facilitate students’ understanding of the Khulafaur Rasyidin material. The conclusion of this study affirms that the integration of animated music videos and Google Sites is feasible for use as an interactive, meaningful, and enjoyable Islamic Religious Education learning medium. These findings contribute to the development of multimedia learning media based on digital technology in Islamic Religious Education and open opportunities for further research to test the effectiveness of the media on a broader sample through an experimental design. Abstract

Fiqh learning, particularly the topic of prayer, plays an important role in shaping students’ understanding and practice of worship. However, in learning practice, differences in difficulties and learning outcomes among students are still found, which are presumed to be related to variations in learning styles. This study aims to determine students’ learning styles, Fiqh learning outcomes on the topic of prayer, and the relationship between learning styles and learning outcomes among Grade VII students at MTsN 16 Jombang. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design and involved 21 students as the sample. Data were collected through a learning style questionnaire consisting of 15 statement items and a learning outcome test comprising 12 multiple-choice questions and 10 essay questions. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, the Levene Test for homogeneity, and the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed that students’ learning styles were diverse, with a dominant tendency toward the kinesthetic learning style. Fiqh learning outcomes on the topic of prayer obtained an average score of 78.90. The correlation test results showed a value of r = –0.013 with Sig. = 0.957 (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no significant relationship between learning styles and Fiqh learning outcomes on the topic of prayer among Grade VII students at MTsN 16 Jombang. Thus, H₀ was accepted and Hₐ was rejected. The conclusion of this study affirms that learning style is not the main factor influencing Fiqh learning outcomes on the topic of prayer. These findings imply the need for teachers to pay attention to other factors, such as learning motivation, discipline, interest, and learning strategies, in efforts to improve students’ learning outcomes.
