Abstract

Abstract

Urban communities plant more ornamental and vegetable crops than medicinal plants, although medicinal plants are one solution for maintaining health and supporting the treatment of illnesses within the family. There are many types of family medicinal plants useful in curing diseases that can be grown in the home garden or on the terrace. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of Dasa Wisma mothers in RT 31 and RT 33, Sungai Dama Village, about the types of family medicinal plants and to increase their knowledge of how to process and use family medicinal plants. The method applied in this service is lectures to educate about family medicinal plants, their processing, and their use. There were 35 Dasa Wisma participants. Based on the observation results, this service has a positive impact because the mothers actively asked questions during the discussion session after the material was presented. The Dasa Wisma mothers asked for more detailed information about how to process and use family medicinal plants. The average pre-test score obtained was 89.47, while the average post-test score was 93.52. The range of pre-test scores given before the material was presented and the post-test scores given after the presentation increased by 4.05. This indicates an increase in the knowledge of Dasa Wisma mothers regarding the types of medicinal plants in the family, as well as their processing and use. This community service effectively increased the knowledge of Dasa Wisma mothers about medicinal plants, how to process them, and their uses.

Abstract

Rights and obligations are inherent in human beings and Indonesian citizens. In the school environment, rights and obligations are increasingly inherent for students as citizens. The UMI PKM team had the opportunity to visit one of their partners located in Sanrobone Village, Takalar Regency, namely MA Mizanul Ulum. Before the Community Service activity was carried out, the PKM team found various problems occurring with the partners, such as some students still frequently skipping school, not doing their homework, being late often, and violating other rules. Therefore, the PKM Team conducted legal counselling activities with the aim of helping students understand the importance of raising awareness of rights and obligations regarding rules and regulations as the basis for creating order and justice in the school environment. This activity is conducted thru lecture and discussion methods. The results of the activity show an increase in awareness of the rights and obligations of students at MA Mizanul Ulum. The implications of this activity are that it can cultivate legal awareness from an early age, instill discipline and a sense of responsibility, and shape students' characters to be integrated and well-rounded.

Abstract

This community empowerment program aims to examine and strengthen the revitalization of the Tilawati curriculum at TPQ Al-Muhajirin in order to improve the quality of Qur’anic learning and students’ understanding of Islamic teachings. Using the ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) approach, the KKN 3 Mayangan team explored the potential of the TPQ and identified a key problem: the learning process had previously focused solely on technical reading skills, resulting in limited exposure to essential Islamic subjects such as worship jurisprudence, women's jurisprudence, and monotheism. Based on these findings, the TPQ’s assets were further developed through the integration of additional Islamic materials delivered in enjoyable ways, including the use of singing to support students’ memorization. Although the revitalization faced challenges such as limited facilities, short learning hours, and varying levels of teacher readiness the process still produced positive outcomes. Students became more enthusiastic, gained a better understanding of Islamic teachings, and showed greater engagement in the learning activities. Thus, TPQ Al-Muhajirin now not only nurtures students’ Qur’anic reading skills but also strengthens their understanding and practice of Islamic values in daily life

Abstract

The obligation to implement halal certification for micro and small business products will end in October 2026. Therefore, the sustainability of micro and small business actors must be taken more seriously and need to be protected from unfair competition, specifically in Bajeman Tragah village, Bangkalan Regency because many business actors in Bajeman Village do not fully understand the obligation of halal certification of products and do not understand the procedures for registering halal certification. The focus of this activity is to provide training and mentoring to business actors so that the business products get legal certainty and halal legality from BPJPH with the mechanisms established by the Indonesian government. The products must be halal and in accordance with Islamic law, where cleanliness, quality, and safety of the production process must be based on a halal quality management system. The mentoring technique implemented is to help business actors to be able to understand and be aware of the obligation of halal certification of their products, then accompany them in the halal certification registration process starting with obtaining NIB, the Self-Declare SJPH Process and until obtaining Halal Product certification. The halal certification mentoring program for micro and small businesses in Bajeman Village, Bangkalan will be conducted over a four-month period, from August 2025 to November 2025. The program aims to facilitate the process of obtaining halal product certification for businesses in Bajeman Village, Bangkalan. The program will raise awareness among the micro and small business actors to register their products to obtain halal product certification from The Government of Indonesia.

Abstract

Limited access to safe household water remains a significant environmental issue in many urban and peri-urban communities in Indonesia, particularly in densely populated areas that rely on shallow groundwater. This community engagement program aimed to introduce a household biofiltration system using locally available Limnocharis flava through environmental education and appropriate technology implementation. The program involved 25 members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) community and employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) and Community Development (Comdev) approaches through educational sessions, demonstrations, guided practice, and participatory reflection. All participants actively attended the activities and practiced the construction and operation of the household biofiltration system. The introduced technology was positively received because it was considered relevant to local environmental conditions, readily available resources, and household needs. Although the program did not include a quantitative evaluation of knowledge improvement, the implementation demonstrated that nature-based, low-cost biofiltration technology has the potential to support environmentally friendly household water management. Continued mentoring and quantitative evaluation are recommended to assess long-term technology adoption and program effectiveness.

Abstract

The difficulties in preparing accountable financial reports, planning business development strategies, and managing business operations effectively remain major challenges faced by the managers of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Poter Village, Tanah Merah District, Bangkalan Regency. These limitations have hindered the optimal growth of several business units, with some experiencing stagnation and limited contribution to local economic development. The condition indicates that strengthening managerial and financial management capacities is essential to improve the performance and sustainability of BUMDes. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of BUMDes managers through a structured training program. The implementation methods include preliminary observation, training sessions, mentoring, and evaluation through interviews and documentation. The training materials focus on business management, basic accounting, and financial reporting preparation. This activity is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals initiated by the United Nations, particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). By strengthening managerial and financial capacities, this program contributes to improving income-generating activities, fostering local entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable rural economic development. The results show an improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in business management, as well as increased awareness of the importance of proper administration and financial reporting. Participants also demonstrated positive responses to the program. Furthermore, the outcomes of this program indicate its contribution to achieving SDGs targets at the village level, especially in enhancing economic resilience and institutional capacity of community-based enterprises. Therefore, this training and mentoring activity is effective in strengthening the capacity of BUMDes managers and contributes to improving performance and sustainability of village enterprises. Similar programs should be conducted continuously to ensure optimal development of BUMDes and to enhance rural community welfare.

Abstract

Students in the Forest Product Technology programme often possess theoretical knowledge of wood but lack practical competencies in creative product development and forest-based enterprise management. This community engagement initiative addressed that gap through a structured pyrography training programme conducted in partnership with WoodCraft SMEs in Loa Janan, Samarinda, whilst simultaneously strengthening the capacity of partner SMEs through product innovation and the expansion of academic networks. Using a Community-Based Learning (CBL) approach grounded in Knowledge-Based Community Development, the programme positioned students as agents of innovation, academics as facilitators, and the SME as a practical mentor. A total of 25 students from the 2021–2023 cohorts participated in practitioner presentations, production process observations, and hands-on pyrography practice. Outcomes demonstrated measurable improvements in students' understanding of pyrography techniques, local timber characteristics, and basic business management. Active participation throughout the sessions indicated a substantial strengthening of entrepreneurial competencies. For WoodCraft Samarinda, the programme generated increased business exposure and expanded academic networks. This initiative represents a replicable model of university–SME collaboration for building a sustainable, local-resource-based entrepreneurial ecosystem in the context of forestry higher education.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) is an innovative program introduced through the Merdeka Curriculum to develop students’ character based on the values of Pancasila. The Pancasila Student Profile comprises six key dimensions: faith and piety, noble character, global diversity, collaboration, independence, creativity, and critical thinking. This community service activity employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The asset mapping process identified human resources at SDN 01 Balongrejo as a potential asset requiring further development. To address this need, the leafpaint method, a painting activity using leaves as the primary medium, was implemented. This program aimed to introduce P5 learning through the leafpaint method, provide teachers with innovative instructional practices, enhance students’ creativity and teamwork, and increase awareness of the educational value of local environmental resources. The implementation process consisted of five stages: planning, socialization, execution, mentoring, and evaluation. The participants were fourth- and fifth-grade students of SDN 01 Balongrejo. The results indicate that the activity generated positive outcomes for both students and teachers. Students gained a better understanding of P5 activities, developed creative skills, and learned to utilize natural materials in producing artwork. Teachers acquired an alternative learning innovation that can be integrated into P5 implementation. Overall, the leafpaint method proved effective in supporting P5 activities and contributed positively to the development of students’ creativity, collaboration, and environmental awareness at SDN 01 Balongrejo.
