Background: In this modern era, patients are increasingly critical of perfect results, we as dentists are required to work systematically. Correct centric and eccentric occlusion relationships are very important in the construction of removable dentures. Errors at the stage of determining jaw relations, especially the vertical dimensions, can cause the artificial teeth to be uncomfortable for the patient to use or have the long-term potential to damage elements of the stomatognathic system. Objective: In this case report, it is hoped that we can distinguish which cases require an increase in the vertical dimension and which do not, as well as knowing how to carry out the procedure for increasing the vertical dimension in cases where the teeth have experienced attrition resulting in a decrease in the vertical dimension. Case: A patient who had experienced attrition of the lower anterior teeth and was exacerbated by loss of the upper anterior teeth, resulting in a decrease in the vertical dimension. Case management: Rehabilitation to increase the vertical dimension was carried out first using an interim acrylic partial denture and enameloplasty of the lower anterior teeth. After the patient adapts, a metal frame partial denture is made as a definitive denture and a fixed denture on the remaining natural teeth to maintain the vertical dimensions that have been obtained. Conclusion: The key to success in this case is an accurate and systematic treatment plan, with an increase in the vertical dimension, as well as good communication with the patient.

Background : Various studies have shown that facial aesthetics is determine by the harmonization and aesthetic teeth. One important aspect of aesthetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance especially the rehabilitation of the maxillary anterior teeth. There are several concepts in aesthetic dentistry that can be use as a guideline in determining the shape and size of the maxillary anterior teeth to get the harmonization of aesthetic smile and function of the teeth, such as Golden Proportion, Reccuring Esthetic Dental (RED) dan Golden Percentage. Golden Proportion was the first and most often used as a guideline in determining the proportion of the frontal width maxillary anterior teeth. But it has some weaknesses, therefor an alternative concept was developed, such as Recurring Esthetic Dental (RED) and Golden Percentage. Recurring Esthetic Dental (RED) is the proportion of the successive of the frontal width of the maxillary anterior teeth remaining constant, when progressing distally from the midline. While Golden Percentage is the percentage proportion of the frontal width of maxillary anterior teeth should be 10%, 15%, 25%, 25%, 15%, 10%. Summary : The proportion of the width of the maxillary anterior teeth are unsuitable with the concept of the Golden Proportion, Recurring Esthetic Dental (RED) and Golden Percentage. But the concept of Golden Percentage assessed more applicable in its use.

Background: Adolescent are often aware of their physical performance and they will find solutions in order to achieve the ideal appearance. The ideal appearance especially on the teeth is an important factor in increasing facial attractiveness which is important in social interactions. There are several important factors that affect the appearance of teeth, including color, shape, and position of the teeth especially the anterior teeth and if there is trauma to the anterior teeth that can be overcome with orthodontic treatment. There is an indicator that can be used to determine the level of need for orthodontic treatment. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the orthodontic treatment needs of Gita Kirtti 3 High School students based on the Orthodontic Care Needs Indicator (IKPO). in this study there were 51 subjects aged 15-17 years who were determined as research subject. The subject then filled out the IKPO questionnaire that had been given. Results: The results of this study showed that based on the IKPO score, 45 subjects (88.2%) need orthodontic treatment and 6 subjects (11.8%) did not need orthodontic treatment. Based on the distribution of gender, both men and women have more scores who need orthodontic treatment than those who do not need orthodontic treatment. Conclusion: From this study, it can be concluded that the number of orthodontic treatment needs in Gita Kirtti 3 high school students is high, this shows that adolescent knowledge and awareness of orthodontic treatment is good enough so that the level of willingness to undergo orthodontic treatment is so high.

Background: Many factors affect the elution of composite resin monomers, such as filler size and light-curing unit used. Objectives: to compare the effect of the filler size and light-curing unit on the elution of monomers. Methods: Subjects were 20 composite resins, consists of 10 microhybrid composite resins and 10 nanofilled composite resins, diameter 4.5 mm and height 2 mm. Composite specimens were cured using halogen light-curing unit 680 mW/cm² or LED 1000 mW/cm², for 20 seconds according to group random allocation. Specimens were put into 1 mL artificial saliva, soaked for 24 hours and then were analyzed with LC-MS/MS, for TEGDMA elution. Results: Two-ways ANOVA test showed there were differences in the influence of filler size and light-curing units type on monomer elution (p < 0.05). The mean of monomer TEGDMA eluted from micro-hal 2.4960 µg/mL ± 0.49318 µg/mL, micro-LED 0.03114 µg/mL ± 2.0820 µg/mL, nano-hal 1.8120 µg/mL ± 0.24273 µg/mL, and nano-LED 1.5000 µg/mL ± 0.0255 µg/mL. Tukey test showed microhybrid composite resin eluted more TEGDMA than nanofilled composite resin (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the elution of TEGDMA monomers with the use of light-curing unit halogen or LED (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Different filler size influenced the elution of composite resin monomer. The polymerization of the nanofilled composite resin is better than microhybrid composite resin, proved by less nanofilled composite resin monomer eluted. The use of halogen light-curing unit or LED light-curing unit, showed no difference in the effect on the elution of monomer.

The proportion of elderly people in developed countries has increased significantly during the last decades. This demographic shift will have important implications for health care services. Oral health is a vital factor to improve the quality of life because it is related to the general health condition. This principle applies to all age groups including the elderly. The most common oral health problems encountered by the elderly are tooth loss, dental caries, periodontitis, xerostomia, oral lessions and dental problems. Poor oral health may lead to dehydration, malnutrition, and several other systemic diseases. With many degenerative diseases that they may experience, it is difficult for them to access the basic practice of oral health management such as tooth brushing or denture hygiene. Therefore, it is considered necessary to provide professional approach to help increase awareness of elderly in maintaining their oral health. National health authorities should develop policies and measurable goals regarding oral health for elderly. National public health programmes should consist oral health promotion and disease prevention based on identified risk factors as well as using the right approach.

Background: Jaw resection in the forensic autopsy has a different purpose rather than the usual goals such as removal of the tumor, fracture repair or reducing osteomyelitis. However, the purpose of forensic autopsies is actually to identify the remains of victims who cannot be identified with fingerprints or DNA conventionally or by means of identifying unidentified victims. Objective: This study aims to review jaw resection techniques at autopsy. Method: Scoping review is carried out by analyzing secondary data in the form of journals published from 2008-2021. Results: There were five journals used in this study. The five journals show that the jaw resection procedure starts from an incision first and then a cut is made to the maxilla or mandible. Conclusion: Jaw resection at autopsy is needed for sufficient visibility. It is usually reserved for cases of severely rotting or burned body parts.
