Abstract

Stunting is a condition of malnutrition that is related to past nutritional deficiencies. The cause of stunting is a multi-dimensional factor and is not only caused by a lack of nutritional intake in pregnant women or toddlers. The government at the national level has issued various policies and regulations which are expected to contribute to reducing the prevalence of stunting, including: National Long Term Development Plan on 2005–2025. Based on data in 2021 from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey, South Kalimantan was in the 6th highest position with a stunting prevalence of 30%, while for districts/cities in South Kalimantan the 4th highest stunting prevalence is Banjar Regency (40.2%), Tapin (33.5%), Barito Kuala (32.4%), and Balangan (32.3%) which then became priority areas for handling stunting cases in 2022. This activity aims to empower the community in the anti-stunting movement through education and training on local organic food processing to be one solution in preventing and handling stunting in Tatah Makmur District, South Kalimantan. The implementation method by education about stunting, training in local organic food processing (moringa nuggets) and providing packages of ingredients for making moringa nuggets and evaluating activities through pre and post test questionnaires. The results of the service activities showed that from 30 Posyandu cadres in 13 villages on Tatah Makmur District, there was an increase in knowledge about stunting increase 33% and an increase in knowledge about healthy food for toddlers is 20%.  This activity also increases cadre motivation as evidenced by the cadre's enthusiasm for processing moringa nuggets at Posyandu as an additional menu for toddlers. It is hoped that similar activities can be carried out again with the different innovations in order to accelerate the reduction of stunting in South Kalimantan.

Abstract

Medicinal plants are plants that have properties for preventing and treating disease. Medicinal plants have properties because they contain active compounds resulting from secondary plant metabolism, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids and steroids. Red ginger is a medicinal plant that has been widely studied because it has antibacterial activity. Based on the results of discussions with representatives Duren Sawit Subdistrict, it was found that there had been no education to the public regarding antimicrobial activity in rhizome plants. The aim of this community service is to increase public knowledge regarding the antibacterial potential of native Indonesian rhizome plants. The method used int this activity is providing education through counseling. The results obtained from this activity showed an increase in community knowledge scores before and after being given education about antibacterial rhizome plants.

Abstract

Skin is part of the organ that covers the human body. The skin has many functions such as physical protection, temperature regulation, conductor/receptor of taste sensations, excretion and absorption of substances such as vitamin D. The skin has 3 layers, namely the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis which have special functions and characteristics. Prevention of skin infections can be done by washing the skin using soap that contains antibacterial. The main ingredient used in making soap is Triclocarban, but this ingredient has the side effect of being easily resistant. Therefore, we recommend natural ingredients to avoid resistance, namely using Rosella flowers as an antioxidant and lemons as a germicide and curing irritation. The aim of the activity is to provide training in making antibacterial liquid soap from natural plants as a skin treatment for skin infections that cause disease. The method used is demonstration and presentation of material. Activities were carried out at SMPN 2 Margaasih Kab. Bandung, West Java Province. The activity ran smoothly and received enthusiasm from students, teachers and school staff. From the pre and post test results, it was concluded that there were significant differences after and before the counseling, which means that this counseling and training was useful in increasing insight.

Abstract

Tea is a drink that is very common in our daily lives which can be used as a health drink for the body. Tea products are not only made from the tops of tea plant leaves, but can be produced from other leaves such as butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea). Butterfly pea flowers contain secondary metabolite compounds such as phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and anthocyanins. These secondary metabolites make telang flowers useful for treating premature aging, cancer, digestive disorders and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this community service is to introduce tea bags made from butterfly pea flowers. The activity methods used are demonstrations, lectures and discussions. The materials and equipment used are butterfly pea flowers, lemon, warm water, ice cubes, honey and spoons and glasses. Participants who took part in this activity were students of SMK PGRI 2 Cimahi. The results of the training activities that have been carried out are that students at SMK PGRI 2 Cimahi can understand the process of making and using butterfly pea flowers as tea bags and produce healthy tea drinks with flavors that students like. Needs identification is carried out through needs analysis and evaluation of teachers' learning evaluation practices, as an important initial step in designing a training program that meets their needs. This needs analysis provides a better understanding of the challenges faced by teachers in using innovative learning media based on simple materials and effective learning evaluation practices. The results of this training show an increase inknowledge and skills of teachers in developing innovative learning media and conducting learning evaluations. The training evaluation indicates that teachers feel more confident inimplementing new learning strategies and using technology in learning. Further monitoring and evaluation are needed to ensure the sustainability of implementing new learning strategies and the use of technology in learning.
