Abstract

Mathematics is a learning that requires students to keep thinking so that it can improve students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a cooperative learning model assisted by interactive media on students' critical thinking skills at SMK Negeri 1 Kuningan, using samples of X Grafika 1 and X Grafika 2 classes. This research is an experimental research using nonquivalent control group design. Before proving the hypothesis to determine the difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills between the experimental class and the control class, the normality and homogeneity test of the N-gain value of each class was carried out first. The normality test used is Shapiro wilk and results in Whitung < Wtabel so that the data is not normally distributed, because the prerequisite test is not met, the hypothesis test uses the Mann Whitney U nonparametric test. The results of this study show Zhitung> Ztabel then H0 is accepted which means there is a difference in students' critical thinking skills between the experimental class and the control class. This indicates that the use of cooperative learning models assisted by interactive game media is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills, besides the results of student response questionnaires which are quite positive also show that cooperative learning models assisted by interactive learning media are able to increase student involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the discriminant equation model can be used to predict the type of Selmes learning style based on students' metacognitive abilities in Junior High Schools. This study is an associational research type with a quantitative approach, involving a sample of 79 students selected using the cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used consisted of a metacognitive ability test in the form of three descriptive questions that measured indicators of understanding, strategy and connection, as well as a closed questionnaire to identify four groups of Selmes learning styles, namely surface, deep, hard work and organized. The data analysis technique used is Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), the results of the study showed four LDA equation functions, each representing each learning style. This model has an accuracy rate of 83.33% in predicting learning styles with the results of the multivariate significance test using Wilks' lambda producing a  or  of 0.0000<0.05 (alpha), so it can be concluded that the discriminant function coefficient is significant for predicting Selmes' learning styles based on metacognitive abilities.

Abstract

Interviews with mathematics teachers and a number of 11th grade students at SMA Pelita Ngabang showed that low student independence in learning had a direct effect on their mathematics learning outcomes. It was not uncommon for some 11th grade students to experience difficulties in solving composition function problems. This was due to a lack of independent learning strategies, a lack of student motivation to learn, and a lack of discipline in managing study time. In addition, students' dependence on explanations provided by teachers also contributes to suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the influence of independent learning on the mathematics learning outcomes of 11th grade students on the topic of composite functions at SMA Pelita Ngabang. The research approach applied uses a quantitative method with a correlational research design. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, while data collection was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires and exam questions. Data processing techniques in this study included validity testing, reliability testing, descriptive statistical analysis, normality testing, linearity testing, homogeneity testing, and simple linear regression testing. The results of statistical analysis using SPSS version 25 software show that the hypothesis test with the F test produced a significance value of 0.003, which is less than 0.05. In addition, the R Square coefficient of determination showed a value of 0.331, indicating that independent learning has a significant effect on mathematics learning outcomes of 33.1%, which is classified as moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the flipped classroom learning model on students' mathematical strategic competencies in terms of their level of learning independence. Strategic competencies are an important aspect of mathematical proficiency, which includes the ability to formulate problems, represent them, and solve mathematical problems. This study employs an experimental method with a factorial design. The research sample consists of seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Karawang during the 2024/2025 academic year, divided into a control group and an experimental group, selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of a learning independence questionnaire and pre- and post-tests of mathematical strategic competence. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, effect size tests, one-way Anova, and two-way Anova. The results of the study indicate that: (1) there is an effect of the flipped classroom model on students' mathematical strategic competencies, (2) there are differences in mathematical strategic competencies based on the level of learning independence in the application of the flipped classroom model, (3) there is no interaction between the learning model and the level of learning independence on students' mathematical strategic competencies. These findings indicate that both the learning model and learning independence individually influence mathematical strategic competence. The flipped classroom model has been proven effective for students with various levels of learning independence.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is one of the essential competencies that students must possess in order to understand, analyze, and solve mathematical problems logically and systematically. This study aims to describe the mathematical reasoning ability of Grade VIII students at MTs Nurul Jadid in solving mathematical word problems. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with six student subjects, grouped into high, medium, and low ability categories. The research instruments consisted of test questions and interview guidelines. In this study, the data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The indicators of mathematical reasoning included: (1) making conjectures, (2) formulating problem-solving strategies, (3) performing calculations, and (4) drawing conclusions. The results showed that high-ability students (T1 and T2) were able to meet all four indicators accurately; they could clearly make conjectures, determine problem-solving strategies, perform calculations accurately and systematically, and draw logical conclusions. Medium-ability students (S1 and S2) met only some indicators. Subject S1 fulfilled two indicators, namely making conjectures and determining problem-solving strategies. Subject S2 was only able to make conjectures but failed in the other indicators. Meanwhile, low-ability students (R1 and R2) encountered difficulties in almost all indicators. Although both subjects were able to make conjectures, they were unsuccessful in formulating strategies, performing calculations, and drawing logical conclusions. In some cases, no answers were found at all on their worksheets, indicating complete confusion in starting the problem-solving process.
