Abstract

The scholar's capability to understand English the fact veritably low in Indonesia. Not only among newcomers similar as the basic or less high academy degree but the capability to understand introductory reading at the high academy position is inversely worrisome. This has led to a lack of further good mortal resources in recent times. For a long time, we've known that English is a foreign language and unexpectedly indeed introductory reading can not be learned at this position. Not to mention that the after generation of Z has made this language a language that's used every day on every occasion. Not only studying and looking for work, this language and the language used in chatting and it's heartbreaking if the scholars' understanding capability is still veritably low. Several factors greatly impact this disability. The first is the lack of words that they've in interpreting the textbook, the second is the lack of training of the textbook to be read either at home or the academy library and the third is the lack of attention of the subject preceptors in the proper wisdom of each scholar who practices at the academy. There is no revealing provocation to make scholars uncommunicative and assume that reading is boring conditioning. Let alone reading foreign readings, reading textbooks in Indonesian itself, indeed lazy to read because of a lack of mindfulness of the significance of reading conditioning. Reading this is to help scholars get the right understanding of important knowledge, and increase their love of reading, and most importantly how do preceptors realize the most applicable strategies in tutoring and literacy handed the schoolteacher knows the background of each scholar.

Abstract

Reading is an activity of observing written language which aims to gain knowledge or messages conveyed by the author. Many students have difficulty in reading and understanding the reading text. By knowing the factors that cause students' difficulties in reading. This proves that not all students can read well. This is due to the tendency of some teachers not to use teaching strategies appropriately. For this reason, this paper was created to explain what strategies in teaching reading are suitable for teachers to apply to students. The data was obtained by giving a questionnaire in the form of a Google form to 10 respondents who were English teachers who taught in senior high school. The data collection technique of this research is a questionnaire containing 10 questions. The results of the data analysis show that there are several techniques used by teachers in teaching reading strategies, namely Scanning, Skimming, Active Reading, Speed Reading, Structure-Proposition-Evaluation, and Survey-Question-Read-Recite-Review. However, not all students can accept and understand these teaching techniques. In this context, the teacher must be able to provide teaching strategies that are in following the interests and abilities of students. Adjustment strategies affect students' ability to follow lessons. The ability of teachers to combine more than one strategy is required to be able to help their students to be skilled at reading well in English.

The data collection instrument for students' problem solving abilities was used to test the description of environmental pollution material. The data analysis technique used covariate analysis technique (ANACOVA) with =0.05. The results obtained are the results of covariate analysis showing that the learning model has a significant effect on problem solving abilities (F=414,239; P=0.000). The average problem-solving ability of the problem-based learning class has an effect of 3.3, which is higher than the class everyone is a teacher here and 34.18, which is higher than the expository. Class everyone is a teacher here to give the effect of 30.88 higher than expository. Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview or description of learning related to heavy metal pollution through a narrative study of the Minamata case. The research method used in this study is an experimental method, this method is intended to find the relationship of certain variables to other variables under tightly controlled conditions. The characteristics contained in this study include: manipulation, control or control, and observation. The data analysis technique uses the Wilcoxon marked level method to test differences, this method is used to analyze the impact caused by a treatment or stimulus as well as to test the difference in the values ??of two populations represented by two sample groups. This study concludes that the learning method through narrative studies is proven to be able to make students more mastery of materials related to heavy metal pollution. This conclusion is based on several series of hypothesis testing that have been carried out where the alternative hypothesis states that the posttest score of students in the experimental group is greater than the posttest score of students in the control class.
