Abstract

This research aims to find out: the message, the value of any Islamic education embodied in the story of Cungkring asks Suwarga and the story’s position in relation to the context of people's lives today. Research has found that there are three aspects of the message and Islamic educationa values in the story of Cungkring asks Suwarga created by puppeteer Amudy Nata Prawa. Islamic educational values that include first, the value of worship (worship to Allah), includes transcendenta worship (Ibadah Mahdhoh), the confession (Syahadat) and pray (Shalat). Secondly, social worship. Third, the universal value of education. The Position of the story of cungkring takon Suwarga and its relationship with public life today is able to become an awareness for the media and a reminder of human life after death (tadzkiratul maut) in terms of awareness about life in the hereafter. Message and Islamic educational value contained in the play Cungkring asks Suwarga can be used as a reference for parents and educators to teach Islamic education values to children. Such as education about tolerance, cooperation, honesty, modesty, loyalty, love, responsibility and so on.

Abstract

This paper discusses the values of Islamic Nusantara Education which is considered to be one of the solutions to the various problems related to the fanaticism of groups that occurred in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to describe the values of Islamic Education developed by the Nahdlatul 'Ulama Regional Representative Council of West Java, which can be used as one source of Islamic values in education. This is done because the Nahdlatul 'Ulama is one of the biggest majority group in Indonesia which still preserves the cultural values which are then internalized to the public. The method used in this study is a qualitative case study. From the research conducted, it was found that there are four things considered as the adopted, maintained, and inherited pedagogical value among members of the Nahdlatul 'Ulama Regional Representatives Council of West Java, which can be used as values in Islamic education – tolerant (tasamuh), balance (tawazun), moderate (tawasuth), and mutual assistance (ta'awaun).

Abstract

Indonesia has many islands, ethnic and cultures. Each culture has a different character, and it looks on the pattern of life measures to any area where they live. In the life of Indonesian society, all most social and religious activities can not be separated from the rituals and culture, in the ceremonies of birth, marriage and death. Religion and culture converge in life. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish whether it is religious rituals or cultural aspects. This is exactly the essence of Islam Nuantara. The number of variants in cultural influence on people’s lives, including educational institutions. Islamic education as an institution and the system should be involved in responding to this situation. Moreover, Islamic education it self is in a community that has a lot of culture. Islamic education should not be viewed Islam Nusantara as an emerging concept, developed or even disappear, but Islamic education makes the discourse can help in the formulation of educational system. Many things should be set within the context of Islam Nusantara, for example curriculum, reference, methodology, teacher qualifications and infrastructure. All elements refer to the appreciation of culture in religious education.

Abstract

Islam Nusantara is a type of intrepretations on how to implement Islamic teachings in a contextual basis of reading religious texts. It is aimed to build Umah’s peaceful and harmonious life. Islamic education development based on Islam Nusantara concept which is desired by IAIN Salatiga is an inclusive education on the basis of tolerant values with positive attitudes toward differences as well as heterogeneity, by including Indonesian Islamic education materials and Islam Nusantara values in the courses in IAIN Salatiga. Abstract

Education is a mean of change in society for a better life. In the community, education process is conducted by religious leaders (scholars or clerics) and also institute religious organizations. In running the educational process, religious leaders and organizations experience rejection in various forms both in words and actions. Community culture which is not in accordance with the Islamic values is a form of impious action in which it is as an object of Islamic education activity in the community. Some types of impious activities are by not respecting each other, not praying, and not fasting. This phenomenon makes scholars and religious organizations rush to perform their functions in Islamic education process, to cultivate the values of tolerances in various dimensions and mutual respect through a synthesis of religion and culture.

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe the system within the game of sluku-sluku bathok in the Komunitas Pojok Budaya. This community concerned in reintroducing traditional games among local villagers. Traditional game sluku-sluku bathok at Komunitas Pojok Budaya has many benefits. It is not only to make children happy, but also to stimulate children to develop their multiple intelligences. The benefits can be seen from the moves within the game, togetherness in characteristic of the game, as well as the song they sung. Moreover, the song in sluku-sluku bathok could be used as the implementation of Islamic education.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal the model, the consistency, and the implication of pesantren network in Samarinda. This is a qualitative research based on sociology, phenomenology, and educational approach. The research was conducted within the total of 37 pesantren in Samarinda which were chosen based on their geographical sites, genealogical aspect, scientific affinity, as well as their tendency toward certain social organization. The geographical network consists of pesantren in South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, East Java, Central Java, and Jambi. The result shows that this kind of network bears two forms namely direct genealogy and family relationship. Meanwhile, the network of social organization entails pesantren of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, LDII, Jama’ah Tabligh, and Suffah Hizbullah. Furthermore, the network of scientific affinity comprises language science, physical/martial art, and sanad Al-Qur’an. The model of the pesantren network is established through pesantren alumnae’s journey into new places or by Islamic preaching, alumni empowerment, cadres’ regeneration, and service. The degree of consistency is categorized into three levels, namely, consistent, inconsistent, and modification. This network contributes to the development of pesantren and society in Samarinda.

Abstract

This article is a summary of the result of the research about the empowerment of santri in Pondok Pesantren Hubulo (PP Hubulo) or Hubulo Islamic Boarding School in Gorontalo Province. The research questions are 1. what kind of empowerment of santri (student of Islamic boarding school) was implemented by PP Hubulo Gorontalo Province; 2. how were the prospect and challenge facing PP Hubulo Gorontalo Province in empowering its santri. The results of research showed that, 1) when empowerment was understood as how santri had power and strength, then actually all of the activities in PP Hubulo were the empowerment of santri. However, when empowerment was divided into two categories, namely soft skill and hard skill, then what existed in PP Hubulo was soft skill only, and 2) there were some factors being the obstacles in the empowerment of santri, among others was the unavailable time, where PP Hubulo used three curricula at the same time, not to mention the demands of national examination that cause the empowerment of santri’s hard skill became impossible to be implemented.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the existence, institutional environment and the sustainability of pesantren institutions in the village that experienced urbanization because of industrialization and the culture of modernity. The study used a constructivism paradigm for qualitative method. Data mining is done through in-depth interview techniques and field observations with the support of document studies. The results showed that, in responding to the instrumentation (the interests) of the state and the pragmatic market demands Pesantren Manbail Futuh pursuing a strategy of hybridization and the commodification of education. It is to adopt a policy of state education as well as to accommodate the community's preference based on the general education schools that is based in Pesantren. Hybridization of education is a diversification of education units (religious and general) in Pesantren. While commodification is intended as fundraising efforts to support the operational needs of the institution so that the implementation of formal education units shall meet national education standards (NES) in addition to meeting society's expectations (market). This strategy means a form of guarantee for the existence and sustainability of pesantren institutions in rural communities.

Abstract

This study reviewed about the implementation of integrating Islam and science in curriculum practice at two science Pesantrens both in Sragen and Jombang. The research method used in this study was documents study which focused on the detail curriculum existed in both Science Pesantrens (Trensain) Tebuireng Jombang and Sragen. The documents were taken from their Pesantren Web. Data analysis was conducted by using descriptive qualitative analysis. The result of the study shows that education in those Sragen and Jombang Science Pesantren (Trensain) is a form of creativity in the framework of integration of Islam and natural science. Further, it combines models between school institution and Pesantren. Their integration framework refers to normative power (Quran and Sunnah), philosophical power, strengthening the mastery of natural science, and power of foreign language mastery.
