Abstract

Indonesia there are many museums, one of which is the UPI National Education Museum which is located in the Bandung Indonesian University of Education area. This museum has a collection that focuses on education which is presented in the form of books, equipment used from classical times to modern times, written information, statues, and dioramas depicting educational events. In the arrangement of existing collections, the interior of the UPI National Education Museum, most of the rooms have a lighting design that does not meet the needs of an exhibition space which should be able to display colors, shapes, textures, and information clearly to enable visitors to see the collection objects and texts clearly and with information. well accepted. The design exploration study will show the design process for lighting and arranging collection displays using an architectural lighting design approach. This study uses a practice-based research method, where exploration includes real activities as a visitor as part of the data search process. The results of the exploration show alternative lighting that is able to create an attractive space ambiance and is in line with the museum's objectives, namely clearly displaying information from collection objects and the texts presented. The contribution of this design can provide new insights for museums to create good and innovative lighting. Keywords: museum, education, lighting

Abstract

This design project re-examines the interior of the Jakarta Textile Museum to address "museum fatigue" and enhance the visitor experience. The analysis of existing conditions identifies key issues such as passive atmosphere, monotonous displays, and confusing flow. The main objective is to create a dynamic, interactive, and educational museum experience. The methodology includes in-depth analysis, literature review, and design concept development. This research proposes several main solutions utilizing modern technology, reorganizing the exhibition flow based on chronology, and designing innovative display facilities. The observation results in an interior design that transforms the Jakarta Textile Museum into a relevant cultural and educational destination. This design aims to increase visitation, reduce museum fatigue, and establish the museum as a model for adopting optimal educational methods with modern technology. In conclusion, this redesign offers a comprehensive solution to revitalize the Jakarta Textile Museum, enhance its function as an institution for education and cultural heritage preservation, and create a more meaningful experience for visitors in the contemporary era. Abstract

Lampung Metro City Library functions as a place to collect, manage, and store printed and digital papers along with local cultural collections. The library is used as a home for students and the community to find various references or reading materials. In 2023 the Lampung Metro City Library had a target number of visits of 160,519 visitors, but the realization only reached 12,268 visitors. The non-achievement of the target was caused by the low awareness of the community to visit. This happens because the facilities are incomplete and less attractive in design. In addition, the arrangement of space zones and furniture has not provided comfort for users and there is no clarity regarding concepts that adjust the character behavior of each age of users. With these problems, a redesign is needed. The purpose of the redesign is to provide comfort, safety, and attractive designs that have educational value. The methods used in the design and design process are interviews, observations, field studies, documentation, and literature searches or references. The final result of the design is in the form of design implementation based on approaches, themes, and concepts that are adjusted to the problem. Abstract

Hospitals serve as health service institutions for the community, including the Pandega Pangandaran Regional General Hospital (RSUD) which operates as a healthcare institution for the people of Pangandaran Regency. The background of this research is the patient dissatisfaction due to discomfort caused by the lack of standardization and an unsupportive interior atmosphere for a healing environment at RSUD Pandega Pangandaran. This observation was gathered through on-site surveys and interviews within the hospital premises. The collected data were then analyzed and compared with benchmark studies and precedents to serve as references and comparisons. Utilizing a User-Centered Design approach, this study aims to implement the Healing Space theme, which integrates natural elements and sensory stimuli to create a comfortable environment for patients. This includes both visual and non-visual connections with nature, material connections with nature, and the use of biomorphic forms and patterns. The results of this research are expected to provide interior design recommendations that not only enhance the patient experience but also improve operational efficiency in the hospital context. Abstract

The Jakarta Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum is an art museum in Jakarta which is a Dutch heritage building so it is classified as a type A cultural heritage building. According to Government Regulation no. 66 of 2015 concerning museums, museums are institutions whose function is to protect, develop, utilize collections and communicate them to the public. Although Government Regulations tend to pay attention to the collection aspect, the ICOM definition emphasizes visitor service and involvement, an aspect that is still poorly implemented in several museums in Indonesia. The Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum, which has various kinds of collection objects, still uses old standard display media so that the objects on display are not well appreciated and do not meet the standards. In this case, it is important to evaluate the presentation of collections and public facilities in accordance with existing standards. Therefore, with the redesign using an interactive approach, it is hoped that it can increase the public's attraction to visit, supported by attractive display media and interactive activities in the museum. This effort is expected to provide an interesting experience for visitors, increase understanding of art and culture, and strengthen the role and vision and mission of the museum as a center for education, recreation and community reflection. Abstract

This research aims to redesign the waiting area and hall of Gambir Station, Jakarta, using behavioral approach to enhance comfort and efficiency for users. As one of the busiest stations in Jakarta, Gambir Station has faced various issues such as inefficient layout and circulation, and suboptimal thermal comfort. This study analyzes different aspects of the station through primary data collection methods such as direct observation, interviews, and questionnaires, as well as secondary data from literature and government regulations. The findings indicate that the current design does not adequately accommodate the needs and behaviors of the users. Recommendations from this study include layout optimization, improvement of thermal comfort, and circulation adjustments more aligned with user behavior. With this redesign, Gambir Station is expected to become more efficient and comfortable for the thousands of passengers who use it daily, while ensuring the station remains a key transportation hub in Jakarta. This research also provides practical guidelines for other station management and contributes to the literature on transportation infrastructure design focused on user behavior aspects. Abstract

The public's perspective on hospitals is often associated with a negative atmosphere, such as being frightening, making it important to change this image to support both psychological and physical healing processes. The goal of the redesign of the Melinda Mother and Child Hospital in Bandung is to create an environment that caters to the psychological needs and comfort of users, particularly the people of Bandung, while they are at the hospital. The design process involved methods such as observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and literature review. The hospital was redesigned using a spatial psychology approach, with the theme "Health Warm Family with Meaningfulness" supported by the concept of salutogenesis, aiming to create psychological comfort through environmental psychology. It is hoped that this redesign will have a positive effect on users, speeding up the healing process and improving health, especially from a psychological perspective. Abstract

Non-formal education through Sanggar Learning Activities (SKB) has become one of the strategic alternatives in an effort to improve the School Average Age Index (RLS) in Indonesia. In support of such improvements, the SKB building must continue to operate, in order to facilitate communities that are not served by the formal education system. The research aims to develop an optimal interior design of the Sanggar Learning Activity, taking into account the functionality, aesthetics, and comfort aspects of its users. The methods used to gather primary data are with interviews, observations, and field studies, while secondary data is done with literary studies. Given the number of programmes organized by the SKB, there is a high level of activity. So the theme applied is "Collaborative Learning Space" with the concept used is "Integrated School", this concept embodies the idea of providing a balanced and integrated space between academic activities and skills, with design elements that support both. Thus, with this redesign it is expected to create a more dynamic, interactive, and relevant learning environment for learners, as well as generate a positive impact in the development of non-formal education in society.
