Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture (Permendikbud) No. 1 of 2021 concerning Online New Student Admissions (PPDB) at the secondary education level at SMAN 1 Sunggal. The Permendikbud is expected to increase efficiency, transparency, and equal access in accepting new students. However, in its implementation, there are various challenges that must be faced, such as limited technological infrastructure, public understanding of the online system, and inequality of internet access in several regions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method that focuses on SMAN 1 Sunggal. Data were collected through interviews with the school, direct observation, and documentation related to the implementation of online PPDB. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis techniques to identify various obstacles and solutions that can be applied in the implementation process of online PPDB. The results of the study show that although the online PPDB system at SMAN 1 Sunggal has been running relatively well, there are several challenges, such as inequality of internet access in certain areas and lack of public understanding regarding online registration procedures. However, this system has succeeded in reducing fraudulent practices and simplifying the administration process for accepting new students. Therefore, it is necessary to improve technological facilities and training for prospective students and parents to support the successful implementation of the online PPDB system in the future. This research is expected to contribute to the development of educational policies and improve understanding of the application of technology in the educational process in Indonesia.

Abstract

Many victims of child sexual violence suffer from trauma, shame, and a lack of support from their surroundings, making them reluctant to continue their education. Therefore, legal protection for child victims of sexual violence based on the Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence identifies efforts to reduce its impact, particularly on the sustainability of children's education.  Children should receive more and the best attention as per the principle of the best interests of the child.  Using a normative legal approach, this paper examines how Indonesian laws pertaining to sexual assault have evolved and how they connect to societal symptoms.  Child protection measures that are implemented according to the best interests of the child concept encompass social, psychological, and physical protection measures.  Legal, psychological, and social help for victims are provided by organizations including the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, KPAI, UPTD PPA, LPSK, Polri, P2TP2A, and NGOs.  Establishing a comprehensive and long-lasting protection system requires cooperation amongst institutions.  In order to better assist and handle child victims in accordance with their rights and integrate central and regional institutions, it is hoped that this journal will offer strategic contributions. One such contribution is to expedite the establishment of UPTD PPA in each region. Additionally, law enforcement officers, including prosecutors, should immediately utilize Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence, as the TPKS Law regulates prevention, handling, recovery, and law enforcement, which prioritizes victim protection, particularly for victims of child sexual violence.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of legal education on public legal awareness in Indonesia, using a quantitative cross-sectional survey design. The research investigates how participation in legal education programs influences individuals' understanding of legal rights, processes, and access to justice. A total of 500 respondents, stratified by demographic factors such as gender, age, education level, and geographic location, were surveyed. The findings reveal that individuals who participated in legal education programs reported significantly higher legal awareness (M = 4.10) compared to those who did not (M = 3.30), with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 0.80). Demographic factors such as education level, employment status, and age were also found to influence legal awareness, with higher educational attainment and employment status positively correlating with increased legal awareness. Gender-based differences were observed, but their practical significance was minimal. Regression analysis further confirmed that legal education is a significant predictor of legal awareness (β = 0.62, p < 0.001). The results emphasize the crucial role of legal education in fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, particularly in enhancing public understanding of legal rights and responsibilities. The study suggests that increasing access to legal education can lead to a more empowered society, capable of participating actively in legal and civic processes.

Abstract

This study focuses on the Bantul District Court Decision Number 126/Pid.Sus/2023/PN.Btl and examines how legal protection for victims of marital rape is being implemented in Indonesia. This study demonstrates that there is still a disconnect between theory and reality, despite the fact that the new Criminal Code has strengthened the legal foundation for prosecuting those who commit marital rape. This study highlights a number of inadequacies in the realization of victims' rights, such as the absence of sufficient legal aid and the disregard for psychological healing, by employing the Doctrinal Research Method and performing a Normative Analysis—that is, by viewing a law as the norm—through a victimological approach. The study comes to the conclusion that more extensive measures are required to guarantee that victims of marital rape obtain the protection they are entitled to, including greater availability of legal services, psychological support, and mechanical assistance.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has significantly transformed the structure of community activities, particularly in the trade sector. Many individuals engaged in sales now utilize digital platforms for marketing, making the process more efficient and profitable. Traditional physical shops are gradually being replaced by online commerce. However, this rapid development also brings challenges, particularly in the form of unlawful acts that may harm other parties. Therefore, a legal solution is necessary to address, prosecute, and enforce the law in the electronic commerce sector. This is essential to ensure legal certainty for business actors and to resolve legal violations fairly and systematically. The background of this study refers to several legal frameworks, namely Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (UU ITE), the Civil Code (KUHP), and Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. This research aims to serve as a valuable reference for the public to actively participate in e-commerce with a clear understanding of their rights and obligations. Furthermore, the study is expected to assist law enforcers in preventing, handling, and taking legal action against civil law violations by digital business actors. The results highlight the ongoing need for systematic efforts to educate the public comprehensively about e-commerce transactions and their legal protection through relevant laws, especially the UU ITE, KUHP, and Consumer Protection Law.

Abstract

Environmental management or Environmental Governance is a comprehensive approach that involves various stakeholders in decision-making, policy formulation, and implementation of strategies to address environmental problems. In the context of Makassar City, this approach is crucial in managing the increasing risk of flooding due to climate change, changes in land use, and population growth. This study highlights the effectiveness of flood management policies based on community participation, information transparency, and coordination between institutions. The survey results show that the majority of the community feels that flood management policies are not yet effective, with low levels of participation. In addition, the lack of transparency and coordination between institutions are major obstacles in the implementation of flood mitigation policies. This study recommends improving the participatory and collaborative approach in Environmental Governance, by integrating ecosystem-based policies, strengthening the role of the community, and increasing the use of sustainable infrastructure to create city resilience to future flood disasters.
