Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of rural industrialisation in improving the local economy of Baruga Village, Uepi Sub-district, Konawe Regency. The main research question is: to what extent does the rural industrialisation program affect household income and the village's economic structure? This research employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through surveys of 150 respondents, while qualitative data were obtained via in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory observation. The findings reveal that the industrialisation program, initiated in 2020, increased average household income by 37.8%, promoted income diversification, and transformed the village economy from a primary sector orientation to a more balanced structure, including the secondary sector. Positive economic impacts also include new employment opportunities and growth in local processing industries. These results emphasise that participatory approaches and the utilisation of local resources are key to the success of rural industrialisation. The implications underline the importance of strengthening infrastructure, developing human resource capacity, expanding access to capital, and integrating village-level institutions. This study contributes empirically to the development of local economic development theory based on rural industrialisation and provides policy direction for similar programs in other regions.

Abstract

The acquittal of murder perpetrators often causes controversy in the criminal justice system. This research analyses the legal arguments in Decision Number 454/Pid.B/2024/PN Sby, which acquitted the defendant of all charges despite strong evidence, including witness testimony, post-mortem results, and CCTV footage. The research method used is normative legal research with statutory, case, and conceptual approaches. The results showed that the judge's consideration in the formal law aspect was less careful in assessing the evidence that had met the criteria of Article 184 of the Criminal Procedure Code, thus ignoring substantive justice. From the material law aspect, the judge did not consider the element of dolus eventualis in Article 338 of the Criminal Code and the element of negligence in Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code, even though the defendant's actions showed a clear causal relationship with the death of the victim. This decision has the potential to create a bad precedent in the Indonesian criminal justice system and create public distrust of the legal system. Therefore, further scrutiny of similar verdicts is needed to ensure justice for victims and maintain the integrity of the judiciary.

Abstract

SIPENTOLMANIS was created to facilitate administrative services. However, in its implementation, there are still obstacles such as the majority of rural communities with low literacy rates, and a lack of socialisation within the community. This study aims to describe the evaluation of policies in the implementation of SIPENTOLMANIS in Jetis District, Mojokerto Regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research with reference to evaluation theory, namely effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equalisation, responsiveness, and accuracy. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the SIPENTOLMANIS policy research have been evaluated by the evaluation criteria and have been proven to facilitate services for the community in the early post-pandemic period. However, the effectiveness and equalisation criteria are not optimal. There has been a decrease in users in 2024-2025, because people who are close to the District office prefer to come directly. It is recommended to increase service innovation that is closer to the community and website development to increase the number of SIPENTOLMANIS users.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of leadership style, organisational culture, and work-life balance on work productivity mediated by job satisfaction. A quantitative approach with hypothesis testing techniques was used in this study. There were 70 samples with the saturated sample technique, namely, all employees of the Chief Administration Bureau at the West Sumatra Governor's Office. Data were collected through distributing questionnaires online and processed using SmartPLS 3.0 software with structural equation modelling techniques. The results showed that organisational culture and work-life balance each had a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, but not significantly by leadership style. Leadership style and job satisfaction each have a positive and significant effect on work productivity, but are not significantly affected by organisational culture and work balance. The effect of organisational culture and work balance, respectively, on work productivity through mediation of job satisfaction was found to be positive and significant, but insignificant mediation by job satisfaction was found on the relationship between leadership style and work productivity. The implications of the study emphasise the importance of meeting the needs and comfort of employees in government agencies in order to provide good quality work.

Abstract

This study aims to examine women's empowerment in the management of community-based Bajo Village tourism villages in Anawoi Village, Tangketada District, Kolaka Regency. The research design uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), and participatory observation. The results of the study indicate that women in Bajo Village have an important role in the tourism sector, especially in managing homestays, providing culinary delights, and making handicrafts. However, women's involvement in strategic decision-making related to the development of tourism villages is still limited. The main obstacles faced are social norms that limit women's roles, lack of access to capital and training, and limitations in business management. Therefore, this study proposes a community-based empowerment model that can improve women's skills and strengthen their participation in tourism management, as well as provide access to greater resources. The recommendations from this study are the need for skills training, strengthening social networks, and support from the government to create an ecosystem that supports women's empowerment in tourism villages.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of digital technology on the interaction patterns between parents and out-of-town students in Makassar and to analyse family interaction patterns in overcoming barriers to communication between parents and out-of-town students in Makassar. This research employs a qualitative case study strategy with a descriptive approach to depict existing facts through in-depth interviews with 5 out-of-town students and 3 parents. The results of the study show that the impact of digital technology on interaction patterns between parents and out-of-town students in the digital era includes ease and intensity in interacting using main social media platforms such as WhatsApp and other social media platforms like Instagram, along with changes in communication patterns. 2) Barriers that emerged include weak signal issues, misunderstandings, and smartphone malfunctions. 3) Solutions to these issues include students seeking stronger signal spots elsewhere or using cellular data, and resolving misunderstandings by re-chatting or switching to video calls. Digital interaction is not only practical but also plays a role in strengthening affection, supervision, and emotional support functions within the family. Sociologically, this phenomenon reflects the emergence of a new communication culture within the family that is flexible, symbolic, and adaptive to the dynamics of the times. Thus, digital media plays an important role as a bridge in maintaining family closeness amid the physical and social challenges faced by out-of-town students and their parents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the strategies of the Amanah Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in improving the welfare of the community in Sinduharjo Village by using the strategic management theory proposed by Wheelen and Hunger. This theory emphasises the strategic management process, which includes environmental analysis (internal and external), strategy formulation, implementation, as well as evaluation and control. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. The findings indicate that BUMDes Amanah actively conducts SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in managing its business units, such as microfinance, multipurpose hall rental, and playground operations. The formulated strategies include strengthening institutional capacity, improving service quality, and diversifying businesses based on local potential. Strategy implementation is carried out through increased community participation, collaboration with third parties, and transparent financial management. Regular evaluations are also conducted to adjust work programs in line with community needs and conditions. The study concludes that the application of strategy based on Wheelen and Hunger's theory enhances operational efficiency and strengthens BUMDes’ contribution to the social welfare of the Sinduharjo Village community.
