Abstract

Depression usually occurs in the elderly with primary hypertension. In people with hypertension, depression causes a decrease in health status, quality of life and social role function. Hypertension has become a public health problem that has continued to increase in the last 20 years. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2015, around 1.13 billion people worldwide have hypertension (Pradono, 2020). In Indonesia, there were 63,309,620 cases of hypertension and 427,218 deaths due to hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in South Sumatra Province is 35.8%, with 1432 cases in 2019 to 3981 cases and 4631 cases in 2020. Data on elderly people with hypertension and depression in 2024 in the Ariodillah Health Center work area is still high, which is around 70% of the total elderly (Puskesmas Ariodillah, 2024). Combination interventions of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy in individuals, families and groups can help reduce symptoms of depression, especially in the elderly. This is reinforced by research (Tobing & Novianti, 2019) that the intervention group with supportive group therapy experienced a significant decrease in hypertensive stress levels. The solutions to the problems offered in this community service activity are in the form of; Coordination of the implementation of activities including preparation of the place of implementation, time and number of participants who can attend the activity. Preparation of supportive therapy modules, leaflets and blood pressure measuring devices; Implementation; Activities in the form of supportive therapy training are carried out in 4 sessions, namely; The first session, carried out with the aim of exploring the problems of the elderly and identifying the support systems that the elderly have. The second session, the use of the support system identified in session 1 owned by the elderly, monitoring its use and obstacles. In the second session of this supportive therapy, the servant and the elderly discuss the support system that exists within the elderly to solve problems and how to use it. The third session, using the support system that exists outside the elderly. This session identifies the support system that exists outside the elderly and teaches how to use it. The fourth session, evaluates how the elderly use the support system and the obstacles in using the support system. In this session, the elderly are asked to convey all the sources of support they have and convey the obstacles or barriers they face. At the end of the session, the servant evaluates and follows up with the elderly on the internal and external sources of support that they have and have practiced. Termination is the final stage of each session of this activity. The activities carried out are to evaluate by asking the elderly how they feel after gaining knowledge and skills to overcome emotional mental disorders. Based on the target achievements and results of the activities, it can be concluded that after the intervention was given, the results of the activities showed that; a) 39% of the elderly still experienced hypertension with moderate depression and 61% of the elderly were in a normal state (no longer depressed); b) Non-pharmacological therapy (Group Supportive Therapy) is used as routine therapy for the elderly at the Elderly Posyandu in the Ariodillah Health Center working area; c) 100% of the elderly have been educated and accompanied regarding the use of supportive group therapy and are required to apply it as daily therapy at home. The follow-up to this activity is that health cadres will accompany all heads of families in stages to apply supportive group therapy in their respective homes and motivate the elderly to routinely participate in activities at the Elderly Posyandu.

Abstract

Pregnant women class (KIH) is an adult learning process (Andragogy), which is a learning activity based on learning needs. Effective learning in KIH requires class managers who are able to condition communicative and educational classes, so that KIH participants are able to follow the class well. Hypnotic conditions by exploring the subconscious are a hypnoteaching learning method. The purpose of this community partnership program is to empower pregnant women's classes using the hypnoteaching learning method. This community service activity uses training and mentoring methods with the main targets being KIH managers and KIH participants. The first training was held on September 6, 2021 and continued with mentoring activities for KIH managers on October 21, 2021. The training was held in the pregnant women's class at the Pakjo Palembang Health Center. The number of participants who took part in the activity was 30 people consisting of 10 KIh managers and 20 KIH participants. It was concluded that training and mentoring using the hypnoteaching method was able to improve the skills of pregnant women's class managers and the learning interests of pregnant women's class participants.

Abstract

In Sukorejo Village, Puhpelem District, Wonogiri Regency, early marriage is still a major problem. This is exacerbated by the lack of function of the Youth Posyandu as an institution that helps teenagers get health education. The purpose of this community service program is to revive the Youth Posyandu through an educational approach, cadre training, and health checks. Counseling, simulation, and pre-post test evaluation were used. The results showed an increase in participant understanding scores by 44.9%, the formation of an active youth cadre structure, and the formation of a regular Posyandu schedule. In addition, 76% of participants stated that they wanted to participate actively, and 89% of them acknowledged the impact of early marriage. This program shows that a participatory and character-based approach to teenagers is effective in increasing health awareness and preventing early marriage. These results are very important as a community-based intervention model that can be applied elsewhere..

Abstract

Household organic waste contributes significantly to total domestic waste in Indonesia, especially in riverbank communities. This community service activity was conducted in 3-4 Ulu Urban Village, Palembang, aiming to improve public awareness and behavior regarding household waste management, particularly organic waste. The participatory approach involved community members, health cadres, and Puskesmas staff through education sessions, video screenings, and demonstrations of waste sorting between organic and inorganic materials. Pre- and post-tests showed improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to waste management. Weekly monitoring over three weeks confirmed gradual changes in community behavior toward cleaner environments. The program's success was supported by the active involvement of community leaders and health workers. This initiative demonstrates that community-based and practical education is effective in promoting sustainable waste management behaviors and reducing the environmental health risks associated with poor sanitation. This program can be replicated in other riverbank areas with similar challenges.

Abstract

Stunting is a public health problem that requires continuous intervention, especially during the first 1,000 days of life. It remains a serious issue in Indonesia's health development, primarily due to the limited capacity of Posyandu cadres in early detection and preventive education. This community service activity aimed to improve the capacity of Posyandu cadres in detecting and preventing stunting. The program was conducted at Puskesmas Pembina Palembang in October 2024, involving 20 active Posyandu cadres. The method included preparation, pre-test, educational sessions, discussions, question and answer, and final evaluation. Initial assessments revealed that most cadres lacked sufficient knowledge and skills regarding stunting risk signs and child growth monitoring. Following the educational intervention and training, there was a significant increase in the cadres’ knowledge and communication skills in delivering nutrition education and performing early stunting detection. This activity made an important contribution to supporting the national program to accelerate stunting reduction and is recommended to be replicated in other Puskesmas service areas.
