Abstract

This study investigates the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers in shaping the noble character of students in the era of the Internet of Things (IoT), a time marked by rapid technological change and digital exposure. The research was conducted at MTs Bustanul ‘Ulum Jayasakti in Central Lampung using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that teachers not only deliver religious content but also act as moral exemplars and digital mentors. They integrate Islamic values into students’ digital realities using contextual strategies such as role-modeling, project-based learning, and ethical digital supervision. Despite facing challenges like limited digital infrastructure and varying parental involvement, these educators effectively foster students’ character by aligning Islamic teachings with contemporary digital contexts. The study concludes that strengthening teachers’ digital literacy and pedagogical adaptability is crucial to preserving moral integrity in a digital society.

Abstract

The potential for radicalism in educational environments poses a serious challenge to instilling values of diversity and tolerance among religious communities. Educational institutions, particularly Islamic boarding schools, play a strategic role in shaping a generation that is not only intellectually capable but also possesses inclusive and moderate character traits. This study aims to analyze the role of Arabic language learning in enhancing religious moderation awareness among students at Darun Nun. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's techniques. The results of the study indicate that Arabic language learning through the study of classical texts, contextual learning, active dialogue, and participation in social activities significantly contributes to strengthening the values of tolerance, balance, appreciation of diversity, and an inclusive attitude in the lives of students. This study makes an important contribution to understanding Arabic language learning that is not only linguistically and communicatively oriented but also transformative in shaping the character of students who are wise, open-minded, and able to live harmoniously in a diverse society. These findings also open up opportunities for further exploration in various pesantren contexts and other educational institutions focused on character development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe teaching innovations through the muhadharah method in improving rhetorical competence and soft skills of students at Islamic High School Model Zainul Hasan Genggong, Probolinggo. A qualitative approach with a case study method is used to explore the implementation of muhadharah activities in depth, starting from planning, implementation, to evaluation. The results of the study indicate that muhadharah, which is implemented systematically through two main models Muhadharah Kubro and Sugro is able to improve public speaking skills, critical thinking, self-confidence, and interpersonal skills of students in a bilingual context (Arabic and English). The role of teachers as facilitators, motivators, and innovators has proven crucial in assisting students through script guidance, performative training, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology. These findings confirm that the integration of the muhadharah method in the learning process is able to form students who are communicative, adaptive, and ready to face global challenges. Thus, muhadharah becomes a contextual, effective, and relevant learning strategy in the development of modern Islamic education.

Abstract

Low Qur'anic literacy among homemakers remains a critical challenge, despite their vital role as the first educators within the family. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Ummi method as an alternative model to enhance Qur'anic reading skills among homemakers in Kralas Village, Bantul, Yogyakarta. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Eight informants, including two teachers and six participants, were selected using the snowball sampling technique. The findings revealed that learning was carried out through a systematic process, spanning from planning to closure. The novelty of this study lies in the application of two-way evaluation, where both teachers and participants assessed each other, and in identifying the importance of teacher certification and participatory learning management for adult learners. Academically, this research enriches the literature on Qur’anic education based on andragogy, while practically, it offers a replicable community-based model to empower homemakers in strengthening family Qur'anic literacy.

Abstract

The integration of technology into Islamic education is crucial for meeting the evolving needs of students in the digital age, aiming to enhance both academic and moral development while preserving Islamic values. However, several challenges hinder this integration, including inadequate infrastructure, limited teacher training, and resistance to new teaching methods. This study explores these challenges and identifies opportunities for integrating technology into the curriculum of Islamic Elementary Schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) and Kindergartens (TK) in Indonesia. A systematic review following the PRISMA framework was conducted, analyzing nine articles out of 25,570. The study identified key barriers, such as limited access to digital devices and the internet, inadequate digital competency among teachers, and resistance to changes in traditional pedagogical methods. Despite these challenges, the study highlights opportunities to enhance student engagement and foster critical thinking through the use of interactive technologies, such as multimedia and AI. These technologies can bridge the gap between traditional Islamic values and modern educational practices. This study demonstrates the importance of continuous professional development for teachers, investment in digital infrastructure, and curriculum reform that integrates Islamic teachings with modern technology. A balanced approach is crucial to ensure the integrity of Islamic education while simultaneously harnessing the benefits of technological advancements. Future research should focus on developing strategies to address these challenges and maximize the potential of technology in Islamic teaching, ultimately improving student outcomes and engagement.

Abstract

Pesantren face increasing demands to preserve Islamic traditions while equipping santri with digital literacy and global competencies. This study examines how Pesantren Al-Falah Situbondo adapts its curriculum by integrating classical learning with technological and entrepreneurial innovation. Using a qualitative case study supported by descriptive survey data, the research identifies three dynamics: the persistence of memorization-based pedagogy, fragmented adoption of digital tools, and sporadic entrepreneurship initiatives. These findings reveal that curriculum reform in pesantren is not a replacement of tradition but a negotiated synthesis that connects heritage with contemporary skills. Theoretically, the study offers a framework for integrating Islamic values with global competency models, thereby bridging domains that are often treated as separate. Practically, it provides pesantren leaders and policymakers a blueprint for embedding digital literacy and entrepreneurship into lesson plans without undermining religious identity. This model can guide other pesantren in designing adaptive curricula and inform Islamic education policy aimed at preparing graduates who are both rooted in tradition and ready for global engagement.

Abstract

Accreditation is a fundamental instrument in ensuring the quality of higher education, which in Indonesia is undergoing a transformation from a centralized system of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) to a discipline-based Independent Accreditation Institution (LAM). This study aims to analyze the implementation of LAM policies using the PESTEL (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, Legal) approach. The research method used is a qualitative method through regulatory review, official reports, and the latest scientific publications. The results of the analysis show that politically, LAM gains legitimacy through national regulations that support quality assurance autonomy; economically, there are challenges of accreditation costs that are still burdensome, especially for small universities; socially, resistance to the new system can be reduced through socialization and capacity building; technologically, the digitalization of the accreditation process still faces infrastructure gaps; environmentally, LAM has the opportunity to integrate sustainability indicators into accreditation standards; and legally, harmonization between BAN-PT and LAM needs to be continuously strengthened to avoid overlapping authorities. Thus, the implementation of LAM can be seen as a strategic step towards an accreditation system that is more relevant, efficient, and oriented towards strengthening the global competitiveness of higher education.
