Abstract

The development of the 2D animation entitled ”Seduhan Terakhir di Ambang Rimba” aims to serve as an environmental literacy medium to raise awareness of deforestation issues in Tesso Nilo National Park (TNTN), Riau. This animation adopts a magical realism directing strategy by utilizing symbolism and allegory, with the character Nilo, a Sumatran elephant, serving as an emotional representation of wildlife victims of deforestation. The work seeks to engage audiences through visual storytelling that prioritizes visual expression over explanatory narration. By employing motion comic techniques, parallax layering, and a contrasting color palette, the animation creates a profound atmosphere and evokes empathy toward the ecosystem damage occurring in Tesso Nilo. An eco-cinema approach is also applied, in which nature and wildlife function not merely as background elements but as primary subjects that shape the narrative and conflict. This study demonstrates that 2D animation can be an effective tool for conveying environmental literacy messages, fostering ecological awareness, and encouraging changes in attitudes toward the deforestation crisis. The resulting work is expected to contribute to the development of animation-based environmental literacy media and to offer a new perspective on conveying ecological issues in an emotional and impactful manner. This research also opens opportunities for further studies on the influence of animation on public behavior in supporting environmental conservation.

Abstract

The implementation of transmedia storytelling in the visual prose book "Seduhan Terakhir di Ambang Rimba" represents an effort to construct a profound and emotional medium for environmental literacy. Designed as a narrative extension of the two-dimensional animation of the same title, this book aims to enrich the audience's experience regarding deforestation in Tesso Nilo National Park, Indonesia. The narrative highlights the inner monologue of Nilo, a Sumatran elephant acting as both a witness and a victim of forest destruction, utilizing a reflective and introspective approach. The book employs digital illustrations with a watercolor style and a dominant earth-tone palette to establish a melancholic atmosphere, depicting the isolation and loss experienced by the protagonist. Through a transmedia storytelling approach, this book does not merely retell the story presented in the animation but offers a new, deeply emotional narrative layer, providing space for the audience to contemplate the environmental issues raised. Ultimately, this book aims to deliver a more personal experience, evoking the audience's empathy toward the ecological impact of environmental degradation and strengthening their awareness of the importance of nature conservation.

Abstract

Public criticism toward extractive industries has increasingly placed public officials under intense media scrutiny, requiring strategic communication responses to maintain credibility and public trust. This study examines the inoculative communication strategy employed by Sherly Tjoanda in responding to mining-related issues during her appearance on the ROSI program aired by Kompas TV. The research aims to identify the forms and patterns of inoculation strategies used in addressing public criticism. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, data were collected through documentation and transcription of relevant interview segments and analyzed using Inoculation Theory as the main analytical framework. The findings reveal three dominant elements of inoculative communication: supportive arguments, anticipation of criticism, and refutation of criticism. These elements are manifested through rational reasoning, legal legitimacy, empathetic acknowledgment, preventive defense, and argumentative rebuttals. The results indicate that the communication strategy combines supportive and refutational defenses to reinforce position consistency while reducing the persuasive impact of opposing narratives. This study contributes to the development of political communication research by demonstrating how inoculation theory operates in mediated political discourse and offers practical insights into managing public criticism in controversial policy contexts.

Abstract

Arrhythmia detection using electrocardiogram (ECG) signals requires an appropriate segmentation strategy to optimally represent cardiac morphological information. Although time-based windowing is widely applied in automated detection systems, the impact of window size variation on classification performance has not been systematically investigated. This study aims to evaluate the influence of different window sizes on arrhythmia detection performance using the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm. The dataset consists of 48 records from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database sampled at 360 Hz. ECG signals were preprocessed using a 0.5–50 Hz bandpass filter and segmented with window sizes of 180, 360, 720, and 1000 samples using 50% overlap. Time-domain statistical features were extracted and used as input to the classification model. Experimental results indicate that the 180-sample window achieved the best performance, with an accuracy of 89.58% and an F1-score of 83.27%. These findings suggest that shorter segmentation windows increase training data density and are more suitable for distance-based classifiers such as KNN. This study highlights that window size selection is a critical parameter in arrhythmia detection system design and should be aligned with the characteristics of the classification algorithm employed.

Abstract

The development of social media, especially Instagram, encourages business actors to optimize visual and narrative-based marketing communication strategies. One form of this strategy is the use of multimodality in delivering promotional messages. This study aims to analyze the multimodal-based marketing communication strategy implemented by the culinary brand Seblak Inceess through its official Instagram account. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a multimodal analysis method based on the theory of Kress and van Leeuwen which includes three metafunctions, namely representational, interpersonal, and compositional metafunctions. The primary data consists of twelve Instagram posts from the @seblakinceess account which were selected purposively based on the highest level of impressions in the period January–December 2025. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and documentation, while data analysis was carried out descriptively interpretatively. The results show that Seblak Inceess utilizes a combination of visual elements, text, audio, and audience interaction in an integrated manner to build a brand image that is close, relaxed, and relevant to the audience's daily lives. The marketing communication strategy implemented tends to be entertainment-based soft selling, where promotional messages are conveyed subtly through narrative content and attractive visuals. These findings indicate that a multimodal marketing communication strategy on Instagram is effective in increasing audience engagement and building emotional closeness between brands and consumers.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media has shifted the way society receives and processes information, including in the fields of health and beauty. TikTok, with its engaging and interactive short video format, has become an important platform for users to search for, share, and evaluate such information. However, audiences' perceptions of this content can vary depending on how they observe, pay attention to, and interpret the information presented. This article reviews the scientific literature discussing audience perception of health and beauty content on TikTok, based on Bernard Berelson's perception theory, which includes the components of sensation, attention, and interpretation. The literature review method examines relevant national and international publications to identify factors that influence perception and their implications on trust, aesthetic standards, and audience behavior. The findings indicate that source credibility, content presentation quality, and the platform's algorithm characteristics are the main determinants of how audiences form their perceptions of the content. In addition, other factors such as content relevance to personal preferences, audience interaction with content creators, and the influence of user communities also affect how this information is processed and accepted. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of transparency and responsibility in creating and distributing health and beauty content on social media to ensure that audiences receive accurate and accountable information.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading causes of premature death globally that often goes undetected due to minimal clinical symptoms, earning it the nickname “silent killer.” The application of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly Machine Learning, is a strategic approach to early detection, but the main challenge lies in balancing diagnostic accuracy with detection sensitivity so that no patients at risk are overlooked. This study aims to analyze and compare the performance of the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm with the Cost-Sensitive strategy compared to Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB) as a baseline in hypertension risk classification. The dataset used included 1,985 electronic medical records with 9 clinical attributes, which were evaluated using the 10-Fold Cross-Validation method to determine model validity. The test results showed that XGBoost consistently outperformed GNB across all evaluation metrics. XGBoost recorded superior performance with an Accuracy of 92.19% and an AUC of 0.9752, far surpassing GNB, which obtained an Accuracy of 84.13%. The application of Cost-Sensitive Learning in XGBoost proved effective in overcoming performance trade-offs by producing a Recall of 91.26% and a Precision of 93.53%. Furthermore, Feature Importance analysis identified Blood Pressure History, Smoking Status, and Family History as the most dominant risk factors, which is in line with global medical guidelines. Based on these results, it is concluded that XGBoost is a more reliable and accurate method to be applied in early detection systems for hypertension compared to classical probabilistic approaches.

Abstract

In the highly competitive retail distribution industry, service excellence has become a crucial differentiating factor. However, PT Indo Asia Unggul faces challenges arising from a gap between customer expectations and actual service delivery, which affects consumer satisfaction. This study aims to describe and analyze the interpersonal communication practices employed by the Marketing Communication division in implementing service excellence at Rak Suca Surabaya. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication functions as a strategic instrument, revealing a distinctive hierarchy in which empathy is prioritized over openness, particularly in crisis, to mitigate the risk of service failure. Moreover, personal interactions enhance the persuasive function of marketing and act as an amplifier of product reliability (hard skills), although they cannot fully compensate for fundamental deficiencies in product quality. This study concludes that a strategic balance between communication competence and product quality is essential for fostering customer loyalty. Therefore, the formalization of empathy-based soft skill training is recommended for the company.

Abstract

In modern organizations, creating a comfortable and conducive work environment is crucial for maintaining employee performance and productivity. This study aims to examine the role of organizational communication climate in fostering a supportive and effective work environment. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the research synthesizes findings from previous studies on organizational communication and workplace conditions. The results indicate that a positive communication climate, characterized by support, participation in decision-making, trust, openness, and high-performance orientation, enhances employee motivation, collaboration, and overall work effectiveness. Support from supervisors and colleagues, involvement in organizational decisions, and transparent information sharing contribute to harmonious relationships and reduce potential conflicts. Additionally, a clear focus on performance goals ensures productivity and accountability across organizational units. The study highlights that implementing a constructive communication climate significantly impacts both individual and organizational outcomes. Limitations include reliance on literature from selected organizations, suggesting the need for broader empirical studies incorporating variables such as communication technology and organizational culture to deepen understanding of how communication climates shape effective and productive work environments.

Abstract

The research aimed to evaluate the accuracy of control system simulations using MATLAB Simulink by comparing the results with those from reference journals. This study employed simulations and comparative analysis without any hardware testing. The system model and control parameters were derived from the reference journal, and simulations were conducted to obtain the system response in the form of time-domain waveforms. The analysis focused on comparing key system response characteristics, including target point attainment speed, overshoot, and steady-state stability. The results revealed that the waveform of the simulation response closely matched the patterns observed in the reference journal, with a high degree of agreement in terms of response characteristics. MATLAB Simulink simulations were validated as a reliable tool for system response analysis, as the small differences observed did not significantly impact the overall conformity of the response characteristics. This study confirms that MATLAB Simulink is effective for validating control system performance based on reference journal simulations.
