Abstract

Tourism is a strategic sector that plays an important role in supporting regional economic development, including in the Special Region of Yogyakarta as one of Indonesia’s leading tourist destinations. High tourism activity has led to an increasing number of visitor reviews on online platforms such as TripAdvisor, which can be utilized to understand tourists’ perceptions and satisfaction levels. The large volume of reviews makes manual analysis ineffective, thus requiring an automated, computation-based approach. This study aims to analyze the sentiment of tourism reviews in Yogyakarta City using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm with the addition of the Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) dimensionality reduction method. The dataset consists of 5,000 tourism reviews that have undergone preprocessing stages, including data cleaning, case folding, tokenization, normalization, stopword removal, and stemming. Text feature representation was performed using the TF-IDF method. Model evaluation was conducted using an 80:20 split between training and testing data, with performance measured using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. The results indicate that the application of LDA to the SVM model improves the balance of classification performance, particularly in precision (77.71%) and F1-score (79.5%), despite a slight decrease in accuracy. Sentiment classification results are dominated by positive sentiment (92.4%), reflecting generally favorable tourist perceptions of destinations in Yogyakarta. This study is expected to serve as a reference for tourism managers in evaluating service quality and facilities based on visitor opinions.

Abstract

The construction of brand image has become a strategic imperative for Islamic higher education institutions in the era of global competition. Prior research has examined the impact of educational institutional branding on academic performance (Karsono et al., 2021). However, a gap remains regarding the explicit integration of Islamic values into science and technology branding. This study aims to explore the brand image strategies of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN North Sumatra in building public trust. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with purposive sampling, involving five key informants: the Dean of FST, the Vice Dean III, the Head of Administrative Affairs, and two students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The research findings identify four strategic pillars: (1) leadership-student synergy in digital dissemination representing the concept of syura; (2) integration of the wahdatul ulum paradigm and rahmatan lil alamin principle in inclusive service delivery; (3) optimization of the official website as an instrument of transparency; (4) consistency in multi-stakeholder communication. Thus, it can be understood that a branding model harmonizing academic excellence with Islamic values in the science-technology context serves as a competitive differentiator, enriching the strategic branding literature of Islamic higher education and demonstrating that authentic integration of religious values strengthens institutional positioning at national and global levels.

Abstract

The planned ratification of the 2024 Regional Head Election Bill, which annulled the Constitutional Court's decision, triggered massive public resistance manifested through the "Blue Garuda Emergency Warning" symbol. This study analyzes the phenomenon using Christian Fuchs's Radical Humanism perspective and Jürgen Habermas's public sphere concept. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected from social media platforms X and Instagram during the critical period of August 21-23, 2024. The research aims to dissect how visual symbols function as a medium of criticism amidst the stagnation of formal democratic channels. The findings show that the Blue Garuda is not merely a viral trend but an instrument of de-alienation that creates a counter-public sphere. Citizens engage in activism by transforming collective emotions into real political movements, both in the digital and physical realms. This phenomenon represents a social healing mechanism for the silencing of citizens' voices while marking a crisis of legitimacy for state institutions. The study concludes that Indonesia's digital democracy has evolved into a substantive corrective force, where nationalism is redefined as loyalty to the constitution and humanitarian values, not blind obedience to the authorities.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) an infectious disease with fluctuating case numbers that can suddenly increase, posing significant public health challenges. In Pontianak City, 106 cases with 1 death were recorded in 2019, decreasing from 195 cases with 3 deaths in 2018. In 2020, the number dropped further to 27 cases with no fatalities. This condition indicates the need for a prediction system capable of accurately estimating the number of cases to support decision-making processes. This study aims to develop a model for predicting daily DHF cases in Pontianak City using the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) method. The data used includes daily DHF cases, average temperature, average humidity, and rainfall from 2020 to 2025. The research stages included data cleaning, normalization using Min-Max Scaling, historical data formation, model training, and evaluation using Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The best model employed a single LSTM layer with 64 neurons, 50 epochs, and a batch size of 32, yielding an RMSE of 0.87 and MAE of 0.63. These results indicate that the LSTM method is capable of generating predictions close to actual values and is reliable for estimating daily DHF cases in Pontianak City. The developed Streamlit-based application provides interactive visualization and accurate predictions, making it a valuable tool for health authorities in DHF prevention and control efforts.
