Abstract

Fakhr al-Din al-Razi is a great scholar who controls various branches of science, especially Islamic sciences. In almost every branch of science studied, he wrote one or more works which some of them became the main references, such as the book al-Mahsul fi 'Ilm al-Ushul and Tafsir al-Kabir Mafatih al-Ghaib. Although he was a follower and defender of the Shafi'i school in the field of fiqh and the Ash'ari school in the field of kalam, but his mastery of knowledge was so broad and deep and his critical thinking about various sciences actually demonstrated his capabilities as a mujtahid. His main work in the field of ushul fiqh, namely al-Mahsul, is the best work that brings together four master books in the field of ushul al-fiqh tariqat al-mutakallimin from its predecessors. He succeeded in presenting ushul al-fiqh comprehensively more than his predecessor, including Imam Shafi'i himself. The analytical-critical description provides a depth of understanding of the various things discussed in the book. Although his work is seen as a result of the merger of the four previous books of ushul al-fiqh, but his analyzes and some opinions show the independence and originality of the writer's thinking.

Abstract

The number of promotions and requests to invest in Islamic financial institutions has made policymakers, especially the DSN-MUI, work harder to make regulations that are easy to comply with sharia and fatwas that attract public interest to practice them. This study aims to analyze the rules of fiqh (especially al-asl fi al-muamalat al-ibahah) used by DSN-MUI by comparing them with previous fiqh books. This study finds that the choice of this rule as one of the most dominant rules is because the rule has a very broad scope and is easy to use with its arguments. Also, the DSN-MUI fatwa is overall quite good but nevertheless still needs improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the portrait of traditional markets that survive in the era of modern trade competition. There are three problems in this study: business resilience strategies, elements that make up social capital, and business resilience through merchants’s social capital. The research setting is the Soponyono market, which is managed by Masjid Tholabuddin Foundation. The approach in this research is phenomenology approach. Data are collected by snowball sampling technique to Muslim merchants as informants, then, are analyzed through by interactive analysis (qualitative approach). The results of the study reveal that the purpose of the muslim merchants to stay in business, is to seek halal income without worrying about modern trade competition. They practice active, passive, and networking strategies. Of the three, network strategy is considered to play an important role in business resilience. Network strategies are formed in three elements of social capital, namely: mutual trust, social networks, and reciprocity. The theory for examining this study, are Mark Granovetter's about socio-economic attachment theory, Fukuyama about elements of trust, social networks, and reciprocal actions, and Islamic theory, namely: ‘amanah, at-ta’awun, and ukhuwwah Islamiyyah.

Abstract

This research aims to find new ideas in integrative Arabic learning. The research conducted in this article is qualitative. Extracting research sources takes one form, sources of bibliographical data in the form of authoritative books and journal articles related to integrative Arabic learning. In terms of approach, this study uses a qualitative approach and a philosophical approach. The qualitative approach is related to the quality, value, or meaning that is explained through language or words. While the philosophical approach to explaining the scientific basis and nature or wisdom of a formal object. This study confirms that integrative Arabic learning is learning Arabic that combines the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), elements of Arabic, language competence (competence linguistics, communicative competence, and cultural competence) and integrates all aspects of learning both academic and non-academic so that all Arabic learning programs are designed and implemented in an integrated and programmed manner in every student's daily life. Integrative Arabic learning is precisely in accordance with the character of the language itself which is an inseparable unit where the breadth of language must be treated as a whole and not narrowly. Several scholars who support the above opinion include Ibn Khaldun, Tamam Hassan, Ahmad Abduh Iwadh, Muhbib Abdul Wahab, Munther Younes, Farid Khalfawi, and Balqasim Malikiyah. The conclusion of this study is different from Noam Chomsky's opinion who concluded that language ability is a natural talent, not determined by the natural environment because language is not a habit.

Abstract

Hadith as the second source of law in Islam, has various forms of derivation of meaning depending on the form of the method as well as the approach used. To be able to understand it in depth, a comprehensive study is needed with the use of appropriate methods and approaches so as to be able to extract the meaning that exists in a hadith text. Yusuf al-Qaradawi as a contemporary Hadith scholar also offers a new methodology in an effort to understand the Hadith so as to facilitate the preachers and researchers provide penjelasn Hadith against the text used or studied. The methodology of understanding is outlined in his book entitled Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah. Yusuf Al-Qardawi in the book emphasizes on understanding the Hadith as an attempt to ground the Prophet's Hadith with several methods including by combining Hadith with the Qur'an, testing the validity of a Hadith with sahih hadiths that are thematic, closer to the main and more in accordance with the wisdom of Shari'ah or the general purpose of Shari'ah. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical methods. The object of study in this article is the book Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah, by Yusuf al-Qaradawi. The primary source in this article is the book of Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah, which was written directly by Yusuf al-Qaradawi, containing all methods and steps to understand and use Hadith in daily activities. Secondary sources in this paper are obtained from books, journals, and articles related to the writing being discussed. The results showed that the reformulation of the methodology offered by Yusuf al-Qaradawi in the book Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyyah get the pros and cons of the readers and enthusiasts of Hadith studies. Also in another aspect, the Hadith method of thought offered by him is relevant to the current historical needs. This is because the understanding of the Hadith text must be relevant to itself, in the sense that its meaning is limited to the values it contains and is relevant to the current conditions of society whose relevance takes place on a rational understanding. The perspective of Yusuf al-Qaradawi indicates the development of Hadith studies, although in this case it gets opposition from other Hadith thinkers.

Abstract

The existence of the Marriage Law No. 1 of 1974 and the provisions of the National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) regarding the minimum age limit for marriage have yet to reduce the number of young marriages in Indonesia successfully. This study aimed to examine the factors causing young marriages to occur in Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This study uses quantitative principles. Data was collected using a questionnaire filled in by 225 respondents who married at a young age (men married less than 19 years and women less than 16 years). Factors causing marriage at a young age are divided into two, namely internal factors and external factors. There are nine items to measure internal factors and ten to measure external factors that cause marriage at a young age. Data were analyzed using the frequency test, descriptive test and crosstabulation test. The results showed that the most potent internal factor causing marriage at a young age was because they wanted to maintain their innocence from the dangers of promiscuity (mean=3.83). In contrast, the most dominant external factor was their parents' lack of religious education (mean=3 .30) and the destructive influence of watching TV/movies (mean=3.28). This study has proven that respondents were still happy with their marriage. This means that marriage at a young age will only sometimes end in conflict and divorce.
