Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the application of electronic service quality and digital payment service integration using Islamic principles in the Kitabisa.com system. The research method used in this study is qualitative, employing observation analysis and literature study techniques. The results of this study indicate that the electronic service quality available on the Kitabisa.com application greatly facilitates users and enhances their satisfaction. Regarding payment service integration using Islamic principles, it also strongly supports donors in making digital donations. The result also states that kitabisa is a medium for strengthening social solidarity and trust between users and beneficiaries. The combination of quality technology services, ease of digital transactions, and alignment with religious values makes Kitabisa.com a successful example of Sharia-based crowdfunding that can be used as a reference for the development of social digital services in the future The obstacles in this study were the limited primary data involving active respondents from the Kitabisa.com user community, making it difficult to describe the variability of donors' attitudes and motivations comprehensively.

Abstract

This study critically investigates live streaming as a contemporary form of spectacle and examines its ethical, spiritual, and socio-cultural implications through the lens of Maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. Live streaming has emerged as a pervasive phenomenon in the digital era, shaping interaction, consumption, and value formation patterns. While it provides unprecedented opportunities for self-expression, entertainment, and social connectivity, it also generates concerns about the commodification of attention, the superficiality of online engagement, and the erosion of deeper moral and spiritual orientations. Adopting a qualitative literature review design, this research synthesizes scholarly works from digital media studies, existential philosophy, and Islamic legal theory. The data set comprises peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and authoritative online sources published primarily within the last decade. Thematic content analysis was employed to identify recurring patterns related to the transformation of values in online interactions, particularly the shift from substance to image, and from intrinsic meaning to performative visibility. The findings reveal that excessive consumption of live streaming content contributes to ethical disorientation, weakens the internalization of moral values, and fosters an environment where identity is increasingly defined by curated appearances rather than authentic essence. Within this context, Maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, articulated through its five higher objectives, ḥifẓ al-dīn (protection of religion), ḥifẓ al-nafs (protection of life), ḥifẓ al-‘aql (protection of intellect), ḥifẓ al-nasl (protection of lineage), and ḥifẓ al-māl (protection of wealth), offers a comprehensive normative framework to assess and address these challenges. The study proposes ethically grounded and spiritually conscious approaches to digital engagement by integrating classical Islamic legal principles with contemporary media critique. This article contributes to contemporary Islamic scholarship by offering a conceptual framework to interpret the dominance of spectacle culture while proposing spiritually conscious and ethically grounded responses.

Abstract

The tradition of the Prophet's Birthday on Bawean Island embodies the intersection of Islamic values and local culture, shaping the distinctive religious practices of the island's people. This tradition is a religious celebration and a means of preserving cultural identity. This study formulates two main questions: (1) How is the sacred construction of the Prophet's Birthday tradition in Bawean formed through the interaction of Islam and local culture? Moreover, (2) How do people across generations interpret this tradition? The study used a qualitative approach with Husserl's phenomenology to explore the community's religious experiences. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation in the form of archives, prayers, and photographs of the procession. Informants were selected purposively, including religious leaders, cultural figures, the Maulid committee, the general public, and the younger generation. Data analysis used phenomenological stages: bracketing, intuiting, analyzing, and describing. The findings indicate that the sacredness of the Maulid in Bawean is understood as a space for strengthening faith, social solidarity, and cultural inheritance. This tradition represents a harmonious construction of archipelagic Islam: Islamic in its values, local in its expression, and sacred in the spiritual experience of its people.

Abstract

A study on gender justice in pesantren is very important, given the persistent stigma that pesantren are patriarchal institutions that limit women’s roles. In fact, when examined more deeply, pesantren hold great potential in realizing equality values that align with Islamic teachings. This article aims to reveal the implementation of gender justice values at Pondok Pesantren Al-Ikhlas Tambakberas Jombang through educational patterns, daily practices, and the role-modeling of the pesantren caretakers. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with observation, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to 40 male and female students and pesantren administrators. The findings show that principles of gender justice have been applied at Pondok Pesantren Al-Ikhlas through equitable task distribution, active involvement of female students in pesantren activities, and the exemplary role of KH. Hasyim Yusuf demonstrates engagement in domestic and productive activities regardless of gender. All students stated that the implementation of gender justice has had a positive impact, both in shaping critical thinking and in increasing fair participation among students. This study suggests that feminism can be internalized within the pesantren environment without departing from Islamic values and local wisdom.

Abstract

Language environment constitutes a fundamental pillar in second language acquisition, including learning Arabic within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The variation of input, the intensity of interaction, and the consistency of practice collectively form the primary scaffolds for developing students’ communicative competence. In the pesantren context, these elements are both pedagogical tools and part of a broader cultural and spiritual ecosystem that shapes language use in structured and spontaneous ways. When effectively designed and managed, this dual ecosystem has the potential to accelerate the process of Arabic acquisition significantly. This article examines the dynamics of the Arabic language environment in pesantren and its relationship with the core dimensions of input, interaction, and output. A qualitative case study design was employed, with participants selected purposively to capture diverse language learning experiences. Data collection involved observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, which were systematically analysed using Krippendorff’s content analysis framework, covering data reduction, thematic classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings point to two interrelated categories of the Arabic language environment. The first is the formal environment, encompassing structured classroom learning such as maharat al-qirā’ah, al-kitābah, al-istimā‘, and al-kalām. This environment facilitates the acquisition of linguistic accuracy by aligning input and teacher–student interaction with grammatical and syntactical norms. The second is the informal environment, which emerges in daily activities such as muḥādathah, ilqā’ al-mufradāt, maḥkamat al-lughah, and muḥāḍarah. Unlike the formal setting, the informal environment privileges fluency and spontaneity, enabling learners to transform theoretical knowledge into practical communicative competence. These findings underscore that the synergy between formal and informal environments is both complementary and transformative: it enriches input, strengthens interaction, and ensures that output is accurate and communicatively meaningful. The implication is clear: success in Arabic language learning within pesantren is primarily determined by how comprehensively the language environment is designed to integrate theoretical instruction with authentic communicative practice.

Abstract

Academic debate on the validity of digital contracts persists, particularly concerning whether electronic signatures can substitute ijab-qabul in Islamic law. This study examines the status of electronic signatures in Islamic contract law and Indonesian regulations by integrating normative legal analysis with an empirical survey of 29 business practitioners across Indonesia who employ digital contracts. The results demonstrate that 82% of respondents consider electronic signatures legally binding under current norms, 76% regard them as fully equivalent to handwritten signatures in representing contractual consent, and 88% affirm their role in enhancing trust and efficiency in transactions. These findings confirm that the essential principles of consent, object clarity, and party competence are preserved in digital form while aligning with statutory recognition in Indonesian law. The study contributes to contemporary Islamic contract law by providing empirical evidence that reinforces theoretical arguments, offering doctrinal insight and practical implications for developing sharia-compliant digital contracts in the digital age.

Abstract

The phenomenon of early marriage in Probolinggo Regency has increased despite the enactment of Law Number 16 of 2019, which raised the minimum marriage age for women from 16 to 19 years, aligning it with men's legal age. This rise is especially notable in rural and coastal areas, posing serious child protection challenges. This study employs a normative juridical approach, analyzing legislation, marriage dispensation records from the Probolinggo Religious Court, and interviews with officials from religious and community institutions, as well as families involved in early marriages. The findings reveal inconsistent and weak enforcement of marriage dispensation regulations, which undermine the law’s effectiveness. Moreover, persistent socio-cultural norms that favor early marriage, economic hardship, low educational attainment, and family pressures contribute significantly to the continuation of early marriages. Early marriage is often motivated by concerns about premarital pregnancy, social stigma, and economic factors. To address these challenges, the study recommends more vigorous enforcement of dispensation procedures, alongside improving educational and economic opportunities for families. It also calls for enhanced cross-sector collaboration among government bodies, community leaders, and civil society. These integrated measures are essential to effectively reducing early marriage rates and improving child protection in Probolinggo Regency.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the need for students to obtain flexible alternative income without disrupting their tight academic schedules. This research aims to analyse the potential of the Islamic capital market as an income source for Gen Z students, with a case study at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UINSA. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three student investors with diverse backgrounds, triggers, and initial capital. The results indicate a direct correlation between preparatory research and profitability, whereas emotion-based investing (FOMO) leads to underperformance. The study's key finding is that initial capital size is not the primary determinant of success; the participant with the lowest capital achieved the highest nominal profit through strong fundamental and technical analysis. The study concludes that the Islamic capital market has significant potential as an alternative income source for students, provided it is supported by adequate literacy and methodology, and recommends that educational institutions strengthen capital market education to mitigate speculative risks.

Abstract

This study discusses the revolution of Arabic language learning in the digital era, focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing language competence while fostering spiritual intelligence. Using a library research method, this study reviews recent literature (2020–2023) on the application of AI in language learning and Islamic education. The findings reveal that AI provides adaptive, interactive, and data-driven learning that strengthens the four core Arabic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), including specific aspects such as nahwu, sharaf, and phonetics. Furthermore, AI has the potential to support the integration of Islamic values through features such as prayer reminders, Qur’anic verses, and the internalization of learning ethics. This research highlights that AI should not be regarded merely as a technical tool but as a medium of technological spiritualization that combines intellectual competence with the cultivation of Islamic character and morality. The contribution of this article is to provide an integrative perspective on how AI can be utilized not only to strengthen Arabic linguistic competence but also as a medium for fostering Islamic spirituality within the context of education.
