Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and level of dependence of science teachers in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah on textbooks and its implications for learning innovation. The approach used is qualitative with a phenomenological design to explore teachers' subjective experiences and meanings in using textbooks as the main source of learning. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis from four science teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The research results show that teachers' dependence on textbooks is still high due to factors such as limited competence, administrative pressure, a school culture that emphasizes compliance, and minimal support for learning facilities. This condition has an impact on low innovation and the lack of development of exploration based learning and direct experience.  Theoretically, this study confirms the relationship between dependence on textbooks and low pedagogical creativity of teachers in implementing the principles of independent learning

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) in strengthening reading literacy among third-grade students at MI Nurul Huda Balai Gajah. The study is grounded in the urgency of reading literacy as a foundation of students’ academic abilities, as well as various findings indicating the low level of literacy achievement in elementary schools. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through non-participatory observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the implementation of GLS is carried out through 15-minute reading activities, the provision of reading corners, and the integration of literacy into learning activities. However, the implementation has not been fully optimal due to limited literacy facilities, variations in student motivation, and teachers’ time management challenges. Supporting factors include teacher commitment and a conducive school environment, while the main obstacles involve the limited collection of reading materials and inconsistent program execution. This study concludes that GLS has strong potential to enhance students’ reading literacy, yet it requires improved facilities, more targeted pedagogical strategies, and broader involvement of the entire school community

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the exploration method in dance arts learning, focusing on its application, obstacles, and evaluation for broader adoption across grade levels. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, the research involved purposively selected participants who possessed in-depth knowledge of the learning process. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings show that the exploration method effectively increased students’ enthusiasm, motivation, and active participation in dance arts learning. Students were more engaged in expressing movement ideas and responding creatively to learning activities. However, the implementation faced obstacles, particularly classroom conditions that allowed distractions from other students, which sometimes reduced learners’ concentration during activities. Limitations in classroom management and learning space also influenced the effectiveness of the method. Overall, the exploration method demonstrates positive potential for supporting student-centered learning in dance arts. To optimize its implementation, practical strategies are required, including improved classroom management and supportive learning environments. With proper adjustments, this method can be considered for wider application at various educational levels.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia is still hindered by the dichotomy of knowledge and a lack of integration between modern science and Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the direction of educational reform through a synthesis of the Islamization of knowledge and the integrative-holistic paradigm. Employing a qualitative library research method, it evaluates the thoughts of al-Faruqi, al-Attas, Fazlur Rahman, and Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The conceptual findings indicate that the integrative-holistic paradigm transcends the limitations of Islamization by offering a transdisciplinary framework that balances revelation, reason, and empiricism. Epistemological reconstruction based on tawḥīd is identified as the primary catalyst for transforming curricula and institutional governance. This study asserts that this model is more contextually relevant for Indonesia as it fosters a rational, spiritual, and contextual educational system. The research concludes that transitioning toward a value-oriented, transdisciplinary system is a vital instrument for the reconstruction of modern Islamic civilization.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari's thinking on character education for the context of Elementary Schools/Islamic Elementary Schools (SD/MI) through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Analysis of a number of literatures found that Asy'ari's concept of character, which is based on the book "Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim," is holistic and built on three main pillars. First, a philosophical foundation that views character education as tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) with an emphasis on developing inner motivations such as sincerity and humility. Second, a relational model that places the relationship between teacher (murabbi) and student based on example and respect as the central mechanism for instilling values. Third, an operational framework that implements abstract values through micro-habits (ta'dīb) in school routines and thematic integration into the national curriculum. This synthesis produces a conceptual framework that shows that Asy'ari's thoughts can function as a value amplifier that enriches and deepens the practice of character education in elementary schools/Islamic elementary schools, bridging the values of Islamic boarding schools with the demands of modern education to form a generation that is intelligent and has noble morals.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has significantly influenced communication patterns and language habits of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students, including their use of Indonesian in school settings. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of MI students in using Indonesian as shaped by social media language and to examine its implications for language practices in madrasahs. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, the study focuses on the subjective experiences of students who actively use social media and were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and reflective accounts of students’ experiences, and analyzed using phenomenological procedures encompassing phenomenological reduction, meaning categorization, and the synthesis of experiential essences. The findings reveal that social media language is perceived by students as practical, comfortable, and flexible, which in turn shapes their language preferences and habitual use in daily life. These habits extend beyond digital communication and permeate oral and written interactions within the madrasah environment. The study identifies a discrepancy between students’ normative understanding of proper and correct Indonesian usage and their actual language practices, highlighting the necessity for context-sensitive pedagogical strategies in Indonesian language instruction at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level.
