Abstract

The swift adoption of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options has significantly changed the online shopping experience, particularly among younger demographics, such as Generation Z and Millennials, in Indonesia. Given that many individuals in this age group do not possess traditional credit cards, BNPL has become a favored and easily accessible solution that fits their digital lifestyle. This research examines how the rise of BNPL affects the purchasing choices, financial outlooks, and expressions of identity of younger consumers. The results indicate a transition in consumer behavior that prioritizes convenience, facilitated by digital platforms, where payment methods serve as a form of self-expression and reflect personal lifestyle preferences. The findings highlight the social and psychological aspects of deferred payment systems, offering valuable insights into the evolving dynamics between young consumers and financial innovation.

Abstract

This research is entitled Cultural Value Orientation in the Movie “The Architecture of Love.” This research aims to represent cultural values in the film based on Kluckhohn's view that cultural value orientation is divided into five categories: human nature, man nature, time, activity, and relational. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and literature studies. Data analysis was performed by observing the film from beginning to end, focusing on the cultural values of Kluckhohn's thoughts, namely, scenes and dialogues in the film The Architecture of Love that represent cultural values. Based on data analysis, five data were found including human nature, five data were man nature orientation, four data were time orientation, four data were activity orientation, and four data were relational orientation. The film represents complex and interrelated cultural values, reflecting the dynamics of human life in a modern context. Using Kluckhohn’s cultural value analysis approach, this movie reveals how individuals deal with trauma, rebuild themselves, and establish relationships within the framework of certain cultural values.

Abstract

This study aims to explore village financial accountability and management strategies implemented for community economic empowerment toward the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision, using Amplas Village in Percut Sei Tuan District as a case study. A descriptive qualitative method was applied through field practice and direct interviews with the village head and local residents of the village. The results show that the village has established a Merah Putih Cooperative as a collective platform for managing agricultural and livestock products, which is officially registered and plays a key role in improving access to capital and product values. Additionally, government support programs, such as the Family Hope Program (PKH) and microenterprise training, have encouraged local community participation in economic activities. However, challenges remain, including unequal aid distribution and a lack of routine outreach. The study concludes that financial accountability through cooperatives and participatory village management strategies has contributed positively to economic empowerment, although further improvements are needed in reporting transparency and equal access to programs. These findings are expected to provide input for village policymakers in designing community-based financial and empowerment policy.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of return on assets and current ratio on firm value in LQ45 indexed companies from Q1 2021 until Q3 2024. Quantitative causal-comparative design used and a census sampling of 45 companies (675 observations), This study employs Tobin’s Q as an indicator of firm value. The analysis reveals that ROA positively and significantly influences firm value, indicating that higher profitability improves investor valuation. In contrast, there is no statistically significant relationship between CR and firm value, suggesting that liquidity is not a primary driver of market valuation. Recommendations include focusing on profitability and asset efficiency to increase firm value, while future research should explore additional variables such as firm size or leverage. The limitations of this study relate to the use of Tobin's Q as a measure of firm value, whereas other methods can also be used.

Abstract

The increased use of immune supplements, particularly in urban areas post-pandemic, has raised questions about the reasons behind consumer purchasing behavior regarding these products. This study aims to explore the impact of product quality, price, and brand image on consumer purchasing decisions for immune supplements in Indonesia, specifically for purchases through national pharmacy chains. The study used a quantitative approach, surveying 125 urban consumers using purposive sampling, and analyzed the data using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that price was the most significant decision driver, followed by brand image and product quality, with all factors significantly influencing purchasing decisions. This study provides insights into how price, trust, and perceived value significantly influence consumer purchasing decisions. The results are practical for pharmacy managers and health product companies in developing pricing, branding, and product communication strategies aimed at health-conscious urban residents who prefer affordable products.

Abstract

This study explores the suboptimal implementation of performance appraisals for BLUD employees in public hospitals. This research aims to identify existing issues and formulate draft guidelines to enhance the appraisal process. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The analysis refers to Gary Dessler’s book “Human Resource Management” to address the lack of accurate measurement in current practices. The findings reveal several challenges, including the absence of performance dialogue, difficulties in validating performance realization data, subjective behavioral assessments, and unclear evaluation criteria. In response, this study proposes guidelines to serve as a reference for all stakeholders involved in the appraisal process. Additional recommendations include the use of shared digital storage (e.g., Google Drive) for performance documentation and the development of behavior assessment instruments based on the BARS method to improve objectivity and ease of evaluation. These efforts are expected to support a more accurate and accountable performance appraisal system

Abstract

Amidst Indonesia's evolving democratic landscape, digital activism has become a defining arena for youth-driven civic engagement. This qualitative research delves into how Indonesian youth are harnessing social media platforms to propel contemporary social movements. Drawing from in-depth case studies of two pivotal movements—#ReformasiDikorupsi and #TolakOmnibusLaw—and candid interviews with activists, this study uncovers the strategies, motivations, and profound challenges that they navigate. Our findings reveal that social media acts as a powerful catalyst for rapid mobilization and broad participation, effectively forging a collective identity and solidarity among youth activists. Online campaigns demonstrably amplify on-the-ground protests, contributing to tangible outcomes such as policy shifts. However, this empowerment is contested within a digital terrain fraught with significant obstacles. Activists must contend with the rampant spread of misinformation and harassment, an overreliance on virality to achieve impact, and the organized counter-mobilization of "cyber troops" seeking to undermine their narratives. Ultimately, this study argues that while digital activism is a vital force for enhancing youth political participation and social awareness, its effectiveness is critically contingent on a delicate balance between digital literacy, platform governance, and the seamless integration of online efforts with offline action. These insights offer a nuanced understanding of both the promise and perils of Indonesia's digital public sphere in the ongoing struggle for social change.

Abstract

Toman Village has agricultural potential for development, one of which is the use of natural dyes from gambier sap waste as the main ingredient for batik dyes. Besides functioning as a natural dye, it also maintains the environmental ecosystem. The batik industry in Toman Village is growing rapidly; however, it faces many challenges in developing its business. Researchers studying this matter aim to analyze the problems faced by the Jumputan Gambo batik industry and formulate strategies for its development in Toman Village. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study strategy was used. The data in this study were collected through observations and in-depth interviews with each research participant. The results showed that the batik handicraft industry has great potential to develop and plays an important role in sustaining people's lives. However, its development has not been maximized and has not received significant support from related parties. The small batik industry faces many challenges in the form of non-optimal work productivity of craftsmen, slow regeneration, inability to engage in online marketing, and Jumputan batik Gambo cloth products are still fixated on traditional designs and colors or patterns, so that the market segment is limited and capital constraints. The efforts that can be made to develop batik include strengthening access to market information and financial aspects, increasing the competence of batik business actors to innovate and create new products or motifs, encouraging batik business actors to collaborate with other parties, and building partner commitments to mitigate market uncertainty.

Abstract

This research examines the urgency of the legal protection of Jathilan Lancur art as a form of traditional cultural expression that is vital to the lives of the people of Yogyakarta. Jathilan Lancur not only functions as a means of traditional ceremonies such as merti desa and clean villages that foster mutual cooperation, but also reflects fundamental values in the form of prayer, gratitude, and enthusiasm for life. The legal protection of this art is crucial, based on Law No. 28/2014 on Copyright and Law No. 5/2017 on the Promotion of Culture. These two regulations confirm Jathilan Lancur’s status as a traditional cultural expression (EBT) that must be inventoried and preserved by the state. The research method applied in this study is juridical-sociological, which examines this protection concretely realized through various initiatives and roles of the Head of the Yogyakarta Special Region Culture Office, including inventory, coaching, organizing festivals, strengthening communities, utilizing technology, and developing regional regulations with the active involvement of the community in three kapanewon in Sleman Regency-Cangkringan (through Kridha Turangga Jati Jiwosari), Kalasan (Turangga Agung & Sekar Mudha Turangga). Sekar Mudha Turangga), and Minggir (Turangga Lancur Jati)-led by maestros, are strong evidence of collaboration in maintaining and inheriting Jathilan Lancur. Thus, legal protection is not just a formality but a guarantee of the sustainability of Jathilan Lancur as an invaluable cultural identity.

Abstract

Digital social media significantly influences public opinion. Posts accompanied by additional narratives can influence the process of law enforcement. This study employs a qualitative descriptive research method. It analyzes events, facts, conditions, phenomena, and circumstances occurring during the research period by presenting what happened. The research object is the focus of the study, incorporating relevant theories. The findings conclude that social media can enhance transparency, accountability, and public participation in law enforcement. However, social media can also be a source of misinformation, defamation, and even negatively influence the judicial process. Therefore, it is important for the public, law enforcement officials, and social media users to be wise in sharing posts on social media and to be aware of the potential positive and negative impacts of such posts on the legal process. One example of a legal case impacted by the power of social media is Indonesia’s e-KTP corruption case.
