Abstract

This study discusses legal protection for Indonesian migrant workers in the dynamics of the diaspora and public policy challenges. Indonesian Migrant Workers play an important role as contributors to the country’s foreign exchange, but still face various problems such as human rights violations, violence, exploitation, and weak legal protection in the destination country. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a juridical-sociological method through in-depth interviews and participatory observation of Indonesian migrant workers and secondary data analysis from official government documents and international reports. The results of the study show a significant gap between the protection policies that have been set by the government and the reality of their implementation in the field. The main problems include the rampant non-procedural placement by illegal agents, low digital literacy of Indonesian migrant workers regarding the government’s online reporting system, and limited coordination between related institutions. This study highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration, both state and private, and the use of information technology to strengthen complaint mechanisms and the supervision of migrant worker placement in a transparent and accountable manner.

Abstract

Digital technology development has driven the rapid growth of startups in Indonesia. In increasingly fierce competition, brand awareness strategies are key to strengthening identity and attracting the attention of the public and investors. One way to understand and inspire this strategy is through the analysis of representations in popular media, such as Korean dramas, which have broad appeal and influence. This study aims to analyze Samsan Tech's brand awareness strategy in Start-Up dramas using the Attention, Interest, Desire, Action (AIDA) model, as well as examine its symbolic meaning through Roland Barthes' semiotics. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis and semiotics methods to explore the meaning of denotative, connotative, and mythical. Data were collected through observation and scene documentation featuring brand awareness strategies, and supported by literature reviews related to AIDA models and startup communication strategies. The results show that Samsan Tech applied the AIDA model by attracting attention through competition, building interest through product presentations, creating desires through relationships with public figures and business projections, and encouraging action through cooperation with large investors. Barthes' analysis reveals symbolic meanings, such as entrepreneurial spirit, team collaboration, and the struggle to face business challenges. This study shows that popular dramas can represent an inspiring business strategy and shape the public perception of startups.

Abstract

This research investigates the potential of TikTok as a digital marketing platform for fostering entrepreneurship on Sumatra Island, Indonesia. The study addresses the gap in the current literature regarding the suboptimal use of digital marketing tools in the region, particularly TikTok, which remains under-utilized despite its potential to enhance entrepreneurial growth. Using a qualitative research approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with six informants, three TikTok sellers and three affiliates from Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Findings indicate that TikTok serves as an effective and cost-efficient platform for entrepreneurs, offering a dual function as both an entertainment and shopping medium. However, the study reveals challenges, such as limited digital financial literacy and an underdeveloped application of marketing strategies on the island. The research contributes to understanding the dynamics of digital marketing adoption in Sumatra, highlighting the necessity of enhancing digital financial literacy and maximizing the use of the platform, for example, TikTok to boost entrepreneurial independence. The implications of this study suggest the importance of integrating digital tools in regional economic policies to foster inclusive growth. The study also acknowledges limitations such as the small sample size and the focused geographical scope which recommend future research with broader, more diverse samples and a mixed-methods approach to explore long-term business sustainability and the comparative effectiveness of various digital platforms.

Abstract

This study explored English teachers' practices in the implementation of English Language Teaching (ELT) under the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesian senior high schools.  Employing a qualitative case study approach, the researchers collected data through semi-structured interviews with three English teachers from three schools. This study investigated how teachers adapt the curriculum to classroom practice and their perceptions of students’ engagement and learning outcomes. To provide contextual insight, placement tests (vocabulary and reading tests) and writing test results were examined to illustrate the alignment between teaching approaches and outcomes. The findings revealed that teachers who adopted student-centered and collaborative strategies reported higher student motivation and stronger motivation on both tests. In contrast, a textbook-oriented or teacher-centered approach is associated with limited student progress. Therefore, this study emphasizes the critical role of teacher agency and the availability of resources in realizing the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Live streaming of TikTok is an important factor in digital marketing success, and its application remains questionable. Rapid development of the skincare industry has created a competitive promotional strategy. This study analyzes how TikTok life can increase skincare sales and the factors that can influence it. This study uses a systematic literature review (SLR) method to analyze the implementation of TikTok Live as a digital marketing strategy in the skincare industry. A total of 38 articles published between 2026 and 2025 were reviewed. The data were analyzed thematically using open and axial coding, structured according to Kotler's 5A framework, and supported by the stimulus-organism-response theory, consumer involvement theory, and technology acceptance models. The results show that TikTok Live has become a digital marketing strategy used to increase skincare sales. Awareness and Appeal have a broad impact and create audience interest through creative visual videos that interact directly with the audience. The ask stage is strengthened through direct consumer communication during live broadcasts through comments. In the Act stage, audiences quickly and easily conduct product transactions. Advocacy forms consumer loyalty to a skincare brand, because customers feel satisfied with the products used. This study provides new insights by combining direct marketing strategies with consumer behavior models. TikTok Live is not only a transactional medium but also a platform for consumer social and emotional engagement.

Abstract

This perspective explores the integration of strategic human resource management (strategic HRM) and sustainable human resource management (sustainable HRM) as a dual strategy for organizational competitive advantage. Strategic HRM focuses on aligning HR policies with business goals to maximize employee engagement, innovation, and productivity, thereby enhancing organizational performance. Key strategic HRM practices include performance management, talent development, and fostering a cohesive company culture that values inclusivity and adaptability. However, strategic HRM’s strategic focus often prioritizes immediate organizational needs over long-term societal concerns. In contrast, sustainable HRM emphasizes a broader, long-term perspective, addressing economic, social, and environmental impacts. This approach integrates multi-stakeholder engagement, ethical practices, and a commitment to societal well-being, thus ensuring the organization’s resilience and sustainability. The research highlights the evolving nature of HRM, noting that the contemporary business landscape requires organizations to balance financial success with social responsibility and environmental stewardship. The findings underscore the complementary nature of strategic HRM and sustainable HRM. While strategic HRM drives performance and competitive advantage, sustainable HRM ensures ethical governance and societal impact. Implementing both approaches enhances organizational adaptability, employee satisfaction, and long-term success. This paper concludes with strategic recommendations for HR leaders, emphasizing the need for strategic alignment, stakeholder engagement, and flexible HR practices that promote both organizational excellence and sustainability.

Abstract

This article analyzes unregistered marriage in Indonesia from a national legal perspective, focusing on its impact on the rights of women and children. Applying a normative legal approach, the study reviews statutory law, religious fatwas, and court decisions to clarify that unregistered marriages, while sometimes valid religiously, however lack formal legal recognition under Undang-Undang Perkawinan. This legal gap exposes women to loss of civil rights and leaves children vulnerable to administrative discrimination and social stigma. The discussion also highlights legal developments following Putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi No. 46/PUU-VIII/2010, as well as the influence of local traditions and limited legal literacy. The article concludes by recommending legal reform, community legal education, and integration of customary practices to strengthen protection for affected groups.

Abstract

Salak Parijotho: A sign of the cultural identity of Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, batik is an expression of creativity. The goal of this research was to examine and assess how local residents view Parijotho Salak Batik as Sleman's cultural identity. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method of data collection, which included thorough interviews, participatory observations, and documentation. The younger generation views it as a potentially creative economy that can be developed, while artists and cultural icons see it as a cultural legacy that must be protected. The salak motif, which is typical of this batik, symbolizes Sleman's distinctiveness as the top producer of salak. Additionally, the research revealed obstacles to conservation and growth, such as inadequate promotion, competition with contemporary textile goods, and a scarcity of skilled artisans. The study's conclusion indicates that, while Parijotho Salak Batik has potential as a solid cultural identity, cooperation between the government, creative industry participants, and the community is necessary to maintain and foster it. In the context of modernization and globalization, these results add to a thorough understanding of the dynamics of local cultural identity.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of a healthy lifestyle and price perception on purchase intention at Ahin Vegetarian in Medan. Employing a quantitative research design with primary data sources, the research targets prospective consumers who intend to make purchases at Ahin Vegetarian during the 2024 period, although the exact population size remains unknown. A total of 110 respondents were selected using incidental sampling techniques. The results of the partial t-test indicate that a healthy lifestyle does not have a statistically significant effect on purchase intention. Conversely, price perception shows a significant and positive impact on consumers’ intention to buy. The findings from the simultaneous test demonstrate that both variables, healthy lifestyle and price perception, jointly exert a significant influence on purchase intention. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) reveals that a portion of the variation in purchase intention can be explained by these two independent variables. These results suggest that while health-oriented behaviors may shape general consumer attitudes, price perception is a more decisive factor in influencing specific purchasing decisions within the vegetarian food market. This study provides practical implications for business owners and marketers in the vegetarian food industry, highlighting the importance of perceived price value in stimulating consumer interest and enhancing sales performance.
