Abstract

This study examines the resurgence of the watermelon symbol (Citrullus lanatus) as an instrument of civil resistance and transnational solidarity with Palestine in Indonesia following the escalation of the conflict on October 7, 2023. Unlike conventional social movement studies, this research situates the watermelon symbol within the context of hybrid warfare, involving the hegemony of digital platform algorithms and the political economy of media. Using a qualitative approach with Critical Discourse Analysis based on Norman Fairclough’s model, the study analyzes two strategic actors: the Islamic mass media Republika and the creative industry brand MCDC (Muslim Cloth Da’wah Center). The findings reveal that the watermelon symbol functions as a strategy of semiotic camouflage to bypass algorithmic censorship such as shadow-banning on platforms like Meta and TikTok. Republika employs this symbol as a tactic of editorial survival amid the pressures of the global advertising economy while reinforcing its identity as a media umat. Meanwhile, MCDC transforms the symbol into an edu-fashion commodity supported by barcode technology as a form of cultural retaliation and psychological therapy addressing the collective guilt of Indonesia’s Muslim middle class. Consequently, the watermelon symbol undergoes a process of glocalization of meaning within the contemporary digital sphere

Abstract

This study examines the universal concept as a characteristic of Islamic banking (Perbankan Syariah) and the monetary economy of Islam in Indonesia. The research is motivated by the growing presence and significance of Islamic banking institutions in Indonesia, particularly following the enactment of Law No. 7 of 1992 and its revision through Law No. 10 of 1998. This study employs a normative-juridical research method supported by qualitative analysis of primary and secondary legal materials. The findings reveal that Islamic banking in Indonesia operates on several fundamental characteristics: universal (berlaku untuk semua orang tanpa memandang agama dan kemampuan ekonomi), varied products, facilitative services, just (adil), beneficial (maslahah), and transparent. The universal characteristic is particularly significant, demonstrating that Islamic banking principles are not limited to Muslim customers but are applicable to all segments of society. The study concludes that the universal nature of Islamic banking, grounded in the principle of rahmatan lil 'alamin, provides a solid foundation for its continued development in Indonesia and globally.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Sanggar Asy-Syauqi in reinforcing the religious practices of Islamic Education students at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research explores how structured religious programs, spiritual mentoring, Qur’an recitation circles, and communal worship activities contribute to shaping students’ worship discipline, religious understanding, and internalization of Islamic values. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation analysis involving sanggar administrators, active student members, and faculty mentors. The findings indicate that participation in the sanggar promotes consistent worship routines, enhances comprehension of religious principles, and fosters spiritual motivation supported by a collaborative and value-driven community environment. Students report significant personal and spiritual transformation, particularly in terms of prayer consistency, Qur’anic engagement, ethical awareness, and confidence in their religious identity as future Islamic educators. The study highlights the importance of campus-based religious studios as effective platforms for holistic spiritual development and suggests the need for further comparative research across different Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This explanatory-sequential mixed-methods study aims to investigate the intersectional effects of gender and ecological living arrangements on growth mindset and career adaptability, while phenomenologically exploring barriers to vocational transition through the lens of Islamic Clinical Psychology. Quantitative data from 160 final-year students at Islamic higher education institutions in Kediri were analyzed using Pearson correlation and Two-Way ANOVA. Simultaneously, qualitative data from open-ended questionnaires were examined using thematic analysis to extract underlying psychological phenomena. A robust positive correlation exists between growth mindset and career adaptability (r = .646). Crucially, the Two-Way ANOVA revealed a significant disordinal interaction between gender and living arrangements (p = .006). For males, spatial autonomy triggered a 'survival syndrome' that enhanced adaptability, whereas residing at home created a 'comfort zone trap'. Conversely, for females, home provided a vital 'secure base', while independent living within pesantren structures triggered 'future anxiety' and a 'bubble effect'. Qualitative findings highlighted a 'cognitive blindness' among santri (boarding school students), who felt inferior despite possessing high-level transferable skills derived from traditional khidmah and musyawarah practices. Career adaptability is not solely dictated by individual mindset but is deeply ecological and gendered. Conventional career guidance is inadequate; thus, this study highlights the urgency of designing psychospiritual interventions rooted in indigenous psychological capital to help students translate their latent traditional competencies into professional resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the implementation of Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory in shaping Islamic character among early childhood learners in the digital era of 2026. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design at a technology-integrated Islamic Early Childhood Education institution. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, and validity was strengthened through source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that teacher and parent modeling serves as the dominant factor in the internalization of Islamic values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, empathy, and social etiquette. The implementation of Social Learning Theory becomes effective when accompanied by positive reinforcement, structured worship habituation, Islamic digital literacy, and strong collaboration between school and family. The digital era presents challenges in the form of symbolic modeling through digital media, which can influence children's imitative behavior. This study proposes an implementative Social Learning model grounded in Islamic values that is contextualized to the challenges faced by Generation Alpha. The research confirms that the integration of modeling, Islamic digital literacy, and school–family collaboration constitutes the primary strategy in fostering Islamic character development among early childhood learners in the digital era

Abstract

Classical organizational theory represents an early systematic framework for understanding structure, authority, and managerial practices. Rooted in the industrial era, its core principlesrationality, hierarchy, specialization, and controlcontinue to influence organizational governance today. However, existing studies tend to focus on comparing classical theory with modern paradigms, with limited attention to how its assumptions persist and adapt within contemporary, value-laden organizational contexts, including educational institutions. This article presents a conceptual review that reexamines the contributions of classical thinkers and evaluates their continued relevance through a synthesis with modern theoretical developments. The analysis reveals both continuity and limitations, particularly in explaining informal dynamics and ethical complexity. Nevertheless, classical theory remains essential as a conceptual foundation for understanding authority, accountability, and institutional coherence. Thus, it serves as a reflective basis for analyzing educational governance, especially within the context of Islamic Educational Management, which is oriented toward values and knowledge

Abstract

Islamic family law reform is a response to the evolving social, cultural, and political dynamics in Muslim countries, particularly post-colonial countries. In many countries, including Morocco, family law is influenced not only by Sharia but also by Western legal systems and local traditions. This situation has prompted states to reform family law through codification, reinterpretation of religious texts, and adaptation of laws to align with the needs of modern society, particularly in efforts to protect women's rights and achieve gender equality. This study aims to analyze the forms, methods, and factors influencing Islamic family law reform. The methodology used is normative legal research with statutory, historical, and conceptual approaches. Data were obtained through a literature review of laws and regulations, Islamic legal doctrine, academic literature, and relevant scientific works. The results indicate that Islamic family law reform is carried out through various methods, such as takhayyur, talfiq, ijtihad, legal codification, and procedural adaptation through the modern judicial system. These reforms reflect efforts to adapt sharia to social change while still considering the values of justice, welfare, and equality, so that Islamic family law can function effectively in contemporary society
