Abstract

Social justice remains a central concern in today’s global context, marked by persistent structural inequalities, imbalanced power relations, and the ongoing marginalization of vulnerable communities. Within Qur’anic studies, addressing this issue requires an interpretive framework that moves beyond purely normative or legalistic readings, toward an approach that engages the social and ethical dimensions embedded in the text. This article examines how the Qur’an’s narrative descriptions shape an understanding of social justice values and explores the ways in which these values can be meaningfully contextualized within contemporary social realities. Employing a qualitative descriptive method through library research and narrative analysis, this study focuses on Qur’anic verses that articulate themes of social justice. The findings reveal that the Qur’an’s narrative structure articulates social relationships, critiques systemic injustice, and emphasizes collective moral responsibility in a manner that transcends historical boundaries. When related to modern issues such as economic disparity, exploitation, and systemic oppression, these values demonstrate strong reflective and transformative potential. Consequently, this study contributes to the development of narrative-based approaches in Qur’anic scholarship and proposes a more accessible and contextually relevant model for interpreting verses on social justice in modern social discourse

Abstract

This article aims to analyze hadiths concerning guardianship and women's consent in marriage and their relevance to the tradition of elopement (merariq) in Lombok society. Merariq is a traditional Sasak marriage practice that begins with the symbolic act of taking the bride before the formal marriage contract. In practice, this tradition often raises debates regarding the fulfillment of women's consent and the involvement of legal guardians as emphasized in the Prophet’s hadith. This study employs a library research method using a contextual analysis approach by examining hadith literature, classical commentaries, and socio-religious studies related to the merariq tradition. The findings indicate that hadiths concerning guardianship and consent emphasize the protection of women’s rights, the prevention of coercion, and the establishment of just marriage procedures. The merariq tradition can be aligned with Islamic legal values as long as it ensures genuine consent, legitimate guardian involvement, and the absence of coercion or harm. Therefore, contextual interpretation enables constructive integration between local cultural practices and Islamic normative principles.

Abstract

The obligation of a husband to provide maintenance within the family is often understood narrowly as merely fulfilling material needs, thereby neglecting moral, emotional, and child-rearing dimensions. This limited understanding raises academic concern, as it may lead to the phenomenon of fatherlessness even when the father is physically present in the family. This study aims to analyze the husband’s maintenance obligations from the Islamic perspective, the provisions of Article 80 of the Compilation of Islamic Law, and Law Number 1 of 1974, as well as their relevance to the emergence of fatherless conditions. The research employs a normative juridical method using legislative and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that maintenance in Islam encompasses not only economic support but also obligations of protection, religious guidance, and fulfillment of the psychological needs of both wife and children. The husband is positioned as the primary party responsible for family welfare in both material and non-material aspects. Neglect of these responsibilities contributes to fatherlessness, which is caused not only by biological absence but also by weak paternal caregiving and leadership roles. This condition negatively affects children’s emotional development and family stability, highlighting the importance of a comprehensive understanding of maintenance obligations to strengthen family resilience.

Abstract

Digital da'wah that has grown through social media and various technological platforms has become an effective means of disseminating Islamic values and fostering social awareness among Muslims in Semarang, Central Java. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores the experiences of preachers, social media managers, and da'wah followers to understand how technology-based religious outreach influences their religious practices. The findings reveal that all respondents perceived tangible benefits from digital da'wah. They reported gaining a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings and feeling more motivated to participate in social activities. Approximately 40% of communities adopted short video content as their primary strategy for delivering religious messages, while Instagram emerged as the most frequently used platform, accounting for 38%. Additionally, 60% of the audience expressed greater enthusiasm for engaging in religious social activities promoted through digital channels. Despite these positive outcomes, several challenges persist. A small portion of respondents (20%) noted algorithm-related constraints that limited the reach of their da'wah content. Overall, the study indicates that digital da'wah holds significant potential to strengthen social piety within the community. However, broader impact requires enhanced creativity and adaptability in responding to the rapid development of digital technologies.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of road closures for social purposes from the perspective of siyasah tanfidziyyah within the framework of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation. The government plays an executive role through policy formulation, infrastructure planning, traffic management, and public education. However, several challenges remain, including low public legal awareness, inadequate supporting infrastructure, weak law enforcement, and limited coordination among relevant stakeholders. From the perspective of Islamic governance, the implementation of executive authority (al-sulthan al-tanfidziyyah) reflects the principles of siyasah syar’iyyah, which emphasize public welfare (maslahah ‘ammah) and social order. The findings indicate that although regulatory implementation has been initiated, improvements in governance effectiveness, law enforcement consistency, and public participation are still required to ensure legal certainty and sustainable traffic management. Strengthening institutional capacity and integrating normative legal frameworks with Islamic governance values are essential to optimize the management of road closure practices for social interests.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in improving elementary school students’ motivation to learn Islamic Education (PAI). The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design. The participants were 43 fifth-grade students at SDN Dharma Camplong 2, Sampang Regency, divided into an experimental group applying the CTL model and a control group receiving conventional instruction. Data were collected through learning motivation questionnaires and classroom observations, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings reveal that the implementation of CTL significantly increased students’ learning motivation. The experimental group showed an average motivation score improvement of 20.40 points, while the control group demonstrated an increase of only 5.40 points. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. = 0.000). Classroom observations further indicated higher levels of student participation, activeness, and enthusiasm in the experimental group. These results indicate that CTL is effective in fostering more meaningful and motivating Islamic Education learning experiences and can be considered an alternative instructional strategy for elementary schools, particularly in rural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah values through Aswaja School programs in higher education. The values examined include tasamuh (tolerance), tawasuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), and ta‘adul (justice), which constitute the core principles of Aswaja teachings in shaping students’ character. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation related to the implementation of Aswaja School activities. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing in a systematic manner. The findings reveal that the internalization of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah values is carried out through integrated intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities within the academic environment. These activities contribute to the development of students’ tolerant, moderate, balanced, and fair attitudes, while fostering openness to new knowledge without abandoning Islamic values. Furthermore, continuous innovation in the management of Aswaja School programs strengthens students’ understanding and practical application of Aswaja values in their social and academic lives. This study highlights the strategic role of Aswaja-based education in promoting value-based character formation in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies employed by tahfidz teachers in guiding the Qur’an memorization extracurricular program to enhance students’ memorization quality and character development at MAN 8 Parimono Jombang. The research identifies students’ memorization practices and analyzes how teachers design and implement mentoring strategies within a non-boarding school context. A qualitative approach with a case study design was applied to obtain an in-depth understanding of the learning process. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to provide a comprehensive picture of program implementation and its impact. The findings indicate that although no formal institutional policy specifically regulates the program, tahfidz teachers develop structured work plans and adopt adaptive learning strategies inspired by pesantren traditions. These strategies support systematic memorization while fostering positive character traits such as patience, consistency, and discipline. The extracurricular activity also contributes to students’ personal development by integrating cognitive and moral dimensions alongside academic achievement. Overall, the program demonstrates improved memorization outcomes and reflects an effective model for strengthening Qur’anic learning in non-boarding madrasah settings

Abstract

Decision of the Constitutional Court Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 has generated significant debate because the Court not only reviewed the constitutionality of Article 169 letter q of Law Number 7 of 2017 on General Elections but also created a new legal norm by acting as a positive legislator. This study aims to analyze the constitutional limits of the Court’s positive legislator function and to assess its implications for constitutionalism and the principles of siyāsah dusturiyyah. This research employs a normative legal method with a library-based approach, examining statutory regulations, Constitutional Court decisions, and constitutional law literature, complemented by the perspective of fiqh siyāsah. The findings indicate that the Constitutional Court exceeded its constitutional authority by introducing a new legal norm that should fall within the legislative domain. The decision fails to meet the standards of procedural and moral justice, as reflected in indications of conflicts of interest, weaknesses in the petitioner’s legal standing, and inconsistencies with the Court’s previous rulings. These results demonstrate that the application of the positive legislator doctrine in this case is inconsistent with the principle of al-‘adl in siyāsah dusturiyyah and has the potential to undermine constitutional supremacy.
