Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of promotion on purchasing decisions on the e-commerce platform among FKIP Universitas Patompo students. The research employed a quantitative approach using a questionnaire survey with 60 respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple regression with the assistance of SPSS. The descriptive results indicate that both promotion and purchasing decisions fall into the medium to high category. The regression equation obtained was Y=5.642+0.766XY = 5.642 + 0.766XY=5.642+0.766X, with a positive regression coefficient of 0.766. The t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that promotion has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.608 shows a moderately strong positive relationship, while the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.369 indicates that promotion explains 36.9% of the variation in purchasing decisions, while the remaining 63.1% is influenced by other factors beyond this study. The findings conclude that promotion plays an important role in encouraging students’ purchasing decisions on the e-commerce platform. These results support Kotler and Keller’s theory and are consistent with previous research regarding the importance of digital promotion in consumer behavior.

Abstract

Menstrual disorders in the form of dysmenorrhea are among the most common reproductive health problems experienced by adolescent girls and have an impact on learning activities, psychological well-being, and overall quality of life. Limited understanding, lack of open communication, and restricted access to youth-friendly health information are barriers to appropriate dysmenorrhea management. This community service program aimed to empower adolescent girls in managing menstrual disorders through complementary therapy based on therapeutic communication. The implementation method applied a community empowerment approach, with therapeutic communication as the primary method, consisting of the pre-interaction, orientation, working, and termination phases. Interventions were delivered through dialogic education, individual counseling, group education sessions, and guided practice of complementary therapies, including warm compresses and acupressure. Therapeutic communication techniques included empathy, active listening, emotional validation, reflection of feelings, clarification, and positive reinforcement. Educational leaflets were used to strengthen health messages. The results demonstrated the establishment of a therapeutic relationship between midwifery professional students and adolescent girls, increased feelings of safety and trust, improved understanding of dysmenorrhea, and enhanced ability among adolescents to independently practice warm compress and acupressure therapies.

Abstract

The revitalization of regional languages is a strategic effort to preserve the continuity of cultural identity amid globalization. The Biak language, as one of the regional languages in Papua, has experienced a decline in usage, particularly among the younger generation, due to the dominance of the Indonesian language in daily communication. This community service activity aims to strengthen the role of the family as the primary agent in the revitalization of the Biak language through a participatory and contextual mentoring approach in Dwar Village. The implementation method includes stages of problem identification, socialization, training, family mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity indicate improvements in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of participants, as evidenced by increased understanding, changes in attitudes, and enhanced language skills among children. In addition, a habit of using the Biak language within the family environment has been established as a form of language internalization in daily life. These findings confirm that the family plays a strategic role in intergenerational language transmission. Therefore, a family-based mentoring approach has proven effective as a sustainable model for regional language revitalization and has the potential to be replicated in other communities with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Urban waste management in Pekanbaru, including Sungaisibam village, remains a significant and complex challenge requiring a comprehensive solution. Low public awareness and participation are often the main factors hindering the effectiveness of waste management programs. This community service research aims to analyze the role of an educational seminar in increasing public awareness and participation in 3R-based (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) waste management. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to analyze the event's implementation, its relevance to local policy, and its impact on participants. The results indicate that the seminar functioned as an effective catalyst, successfully bridging the gap between knowledge and action. This success was underpinned by three key factors: first, its alignment with the Pekanbaru City Government's policy of transitioning to a Waste Management Agency (LPS)-based system; second, strong social support from the presence of government officials and expert speakers; and third, an interactive and action-oriented event design that aligns with the principles of the Theory of Planned Behavior. The seminar not only provided information but also built motivation, created a social norm, and enhanced the community's awareness of their ability to participate actively.

Abstract

Deaf students in higher education still face barriers in verbal communication that affect academic participation, social interaction, and self-confidence in various campus situations. This condition indicates the need for communication media that are more adaptive, practical, and easy to use in everyday interactions. This community service program aims to improve the communication skills of deaf students through the use of a “talking bottle” as an interactive communication medium in an inclusive campus environment. The program was implemented using a participatory approach, which included technical training on the use of the device, individual mentoring, communication simulations in real-life situations, and an inclusive communication awareness campaign at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of how the talking bottle works, the development of basic skills in forming simple utterances, increased confidence to participate in simulations and presentations, and the creation of more supportive interaction spaces through the assistance of facilitators, sign language interpreters, and supporting visual media. The program also demonstrates that strengthening communication skills among deaf students needs to be understood as a process involving technical, psychosocial, and campus social environment aspects. Therefore, the talking bottle can function as a relevant interactive communication medium to support the development of an inclusive campus, especially when accompanied by continuous training, operational modules, and support from the academic community.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PKM) activity entitled “Legal Education on the Dangers of Hoax Dissemination and Its Economic Impact on MSMEs” aims to enhance public understanding and legal awareness, particularly among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in using social media wisely and responsibly by addressing the main issue of low digital literacy and limited understanding of the legal consequences of spreading hoaxes, which can result in social and economic losses, including decreased consumer trust in MSMEs. The program was implemented through stages of data collection, training, mentoring, and evaluation, with educational materials focusing on the understanding of hoaxes, their forms of dissemination, legal implications, and the economic losses they may cause, while mentoring ensured participants could apply this knowledge in their daily lives. The results indicate an improvement in public awareness of the dangers of hoaxes, increased ability to verify information, and stronger legal awareness in the use of social media, as well as the development of critical and responsible attitudes in sharing information; despite challenges related to varying levels of participant understanding, the program overall had a positive impact on enhancing digital literacy, legal awareness, and the sustainability of MSME businesses.

Abstract

Drug abuse in rural areas requires prevention strategies that emphasize not only enforcement measures but also strengthening the capacity of village governments and community participation. This community service program aims to improve the understanding of village officials and residents regarding the dangers of drugs, build collaboration with the Pelalawan Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK Pelalawan), and encourage the strengthening of village institutions through community-based prevention programs. The implementation methods include field observations, coordination with partners, outreach/socialization, assistance, monitoring and evaluation, and the preparation of activity outputs as outlined in the proposal and reported in the implementation progress. The results of the program indicate an increase in participants’ understanding of types of drugs, the impacts of drug abuse, early detection, and reporting mechanisms, along with strengthened cooperation networks between the village government and BNNK Pelalawan. The program also produced outputs in the form of community service articles, educational media such as leaflets, posters, handouts, videos, and media publications as a means of disseminating results. The main impact of this activity is the growth of collective awareness within the village community and the increased institutional readiness of village governments in developing sustainable drug prevention programs.

Abstract

Rempoah Village has abundant corn potential; however, its utilization is still limited to the sale of raw materials or traditional processed products, resulting in suboptimal economic value. In addition, members of the PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment Group) still have limited knowledge and skills in processing local food into innovative, marketable products. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of PKK members in processing corn into corn milk as a value-added food product. The implementation method consists of a socialization stage and hands-on training. The socialization stage includes the delivery of materials on the nutritional content of corn, the benefits of corn milk, and principles of sanitation and hygiene. Furthermore, the training stage involves practical sessions on making corn milk, starting from selecting raw materials, processing, to simple packaging. The results show an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in processing corn into corn milk. Participants were able to produce products with good color, taste, and texture characteristics, and demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the activity. The impact of this program is an increase in the capacity of PKK members in local food diversification, as well as the emergence of home-based business opportunities that have the potential to increase family income. In addition, this activity encourages the utilization of local resources to support food security. The outputs of this activity include corn milk products, improved participant skills, and the potential establishment of small-scale businesses based on local food. This activity is expected to be sustainable through continued assistance in production and marketing aspects.
