Abstract

Kaffir lime leaf (Citrus hystrix) is a plant that contains aromatic oil. The aroma is not liked by insects, so it can be used as a repellent. Kaffir lime leaf essential oil contains linalool, citronella, and beta-citronellol compounds which have biolarvicidal effects on mosquitoes. This study aims to formulate the essential oil of kaffir lime leaves in the form of a spray repellent against Culex Sp. In this study, the kaffir lime leaf essential oil formula was made with variations in concentration, namely formula 1 (10%), formula 2 (15%), and formula 3 (20%). The test parameters include organoleptic examination, pH test, stability test, viscosity test, skin irritation test and repellent activity test against Culex Sp. The spray formula with concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% had protection against mosquitoes during 3 hours. Spray repellent formula with a concentration of 10% has a protection power of 50%, a concentration of 15% has a protection power of 75%, and a concentration of 20% has a protective power of 93.30%.The kaffir lime leaf essential oil (Citrus hystrix) can be formulated as an aromatherapy wax and the repellent activity of the kaffir lime leaf essential oil (Citrus hystrix) aromatherapy candle shows that the repellent activity increases along with the increase in the concentration of kaffir lime leaf essential oil.

Abstract

Penggunaan masker peel-off untuk mengatasi berbagai masalah pada kulit wajah saat ini sedang banyak diminati. Penggunaan ekstrak tumbuhan sebagai bahan aktif dalam pembuatan masker peel-off telah banyak dilaporkan. Namun, belum banyak penelitian tentang penggunaan minyak tumbuhan pada masker peel-off. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memformulasi masker peel-off dari minyak alpukat sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan dan pelembab alami pada sediaan kosmetika. Minyak alpukat merupakan sumber alami yang kaya akan asam lemak tak jenuh seperti asam oleat, linoleat, dan palmitat yang merupakan bahan yang sangat baik untuk melembabkan kulit dan meningkatkan permeabilitas kulit. Metode dalam penelitian ini meliputi ekstraksi minyak alpukat, formulasi dan evaluasi masker peel-off dari minyak alpukat. Ekstraksi minyak alpukat dilakukan dengan cara memanaskan daging buah alpukat. Sediaan masker peel-off yang mengandung minyak alpukat dibuat dengan konsentrasi 0% sebagai blanko, 5%, 7,5%, 10%, dan 12,5%. Evaluasi masker peel-off dari minyak alpukat meliputi uji organoleptik, uji homogenitas, pengukuran pH, daya sebar, waktu pengeringan, dan elastisitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa semua formula masker gel peel-off minyak buah alpukat (Persea americana) telah memenuhi persyaratan parameter homogenitas dan pH. Masker gel peel-off F3 merupakan formula yang terbaik dengan daya sebar yang memenuhi persyaratan antara 5,03-5,60 cm, waktu mengering paling cepat yaitu 15,1 menit, dan elastisitas dengan persen daya regang tertinggi yaitu 133%.

Abstract

A natural product that contains compounds that act as anticancer can be detected by conducting a preliminary test, namely the toxicity test. One of the methods in the Toxicity test is the BSLT test method as an initial step in the search for new anticancer compounds. The toxicity value of this method has been shown to correlate with cytotoxicity. anticancer compound. and can show a correlation to a specific anticancer. Bay plants contain saponins, triterpenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, alkaloids, tannins, and essential oils consisting of sesquiterpenes, lactones, and phenols, which can be used as an alternative to prevent dyslipidemia, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, antidiabetics, antidiarrheals and antihypertensives. Vile shard plant. contains various kinds of secondary metabolites and chemical substances such as potassium, sodium, silicic acid, calcium, saponins, alkaloids, polyphenols and flavonoids which act as antioxidants and can inhibit the growth and development of cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to compare the toxic effects of the ethanol extract of bay leaves and keji shard leaves on Artemia Salina Leach larvae. The type of research used was quantitative. The novelty of this research is to get the thick extract using sonification so that the time is more efficient compared to just doing maceration which takes longer. The results showed that the extracts of bay leaves and keji shard leaves are very toxic so they have the potential to be anticancer, as evidenced by the LC50 values of the bay leaf and koji shard leaf extracts which were 32.35 ppm and 194 ppm. From the LC50 value, bay leaves have higher toxicity than bitter shard leaves. The results obtained in this study can be used as an illustration for further research for the export of natural plant materials that have the potential as anticancer drugs.

Abstract

This research was carried out adsorption of methylene blue dye using shrimp shell (SS) biosorbent. Methylene blue dye is commonly used in the textile and paper industries. Previously, research had been carried out on the adsorption of anionic dyes by shrimp shells, then in this study a batch adsorption was carried out to absorb methylene blue cationic dyes.It is carried out in batches with several parameters to obtain the optimum conditions. Several studies were carried out such as isotherm studies, kinetics and thermodynamics to analyze how the adsorption process occurs. The adsorption process followed the Langmuir isotherm model for the two biosorbents which showed the formation of monolayers, the kinetic model followed the second-order pseudo. The thermodynamic study of shrimp shells showed that the adsorption process was non-spontaneous, endothermic, and increased randomness. FTIR analysis shows that there are electrostatic interactions, cation exchange, and hydrogen bonding. SEM-EDX analysis shows that the pore filling of the biosorbent surface by methylene blue molecules occurs.

Abstract

This research discusses the thermodynamics of methylene blue(MB) adsorption using kapok husk (KH) and kapok huskmodified with citric acid (CA-KH). Both biosorbents obtained thermodynamic results with a negative value of the change in Gibbs energy (∆G), indicating that the adsorption process took place spontaneously, a negative value on enthalpy (∆H), indicating the adsorption process was an exothermic process, and a negative entropy value (∆S) indicating an increase The regular distribution of methylene blue dye on the surface during the adsorption process is proven by the results of SEM photo analysis at 3000x magnification with the distribution of methylene blue dye on the surface of the two biosorbents..

Abstract

Penggunaan obat-obatan analgetik opioid, AINS dan atau kortikosteroid untuk meredakan nyeri maupun inflamasi memiliki resiko efek samping yang cukup besar, sehingga mendorong penggunaan obat tradisional di masyarakat. Salah satu tanaman yang digunakan di provinsi NTT adalah tanaman faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br). Selama ini masyarakat hanya menggunakan kulit batang faloak sebagai obat tradisional yang tentu saja bersifat destruktif terhadap tanaman tersebut, padahal daun tanaman faloak memiliki kandungan senyawa yang mirip dengan kandungan kulit batangnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan secara ilmiah khasiat daun faloak sebagai analgetik dan anti-inflamasi. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol. Ekstrak daun faloak dosis 100, 200 dan 400 mg/kg bb diuji aktivitas analgetik peripheral dengan metode siegmund, dan analgetik sentralnya dengan metode tail immersion. Ekstrak juga diuji aktivitas anti-inflamasinya menggunakan metode induksi karagenan pada telapak kaki mencit. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun faloak dosis 400 mg/kg bb memberikan aktivitas farmakologi terbesar baik sebagai analgetik maupun anti-inflamasi yang dibandingkan terhadap kelompok control negatif (p<0.05). Khusus untuk metode siegmund dan induksi karagenan, aktivitas ekstrak dosis 400 mg/kg bb menyerupai control positif (p>0.05). Semua kelompok dosis ekstrak daun faloak memiliki aktivitas analgetic dan anti-inflamasi sehingga diharapkan dapat dijadikan alternative dalam pengobatan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis Ceria berpori yang telah menarik banyak minat dalam aplikasinya di bidang katalisis karena memiliki siklus redoks yang unik (Ce3+/Ce4+), luas permukaan yang besar, ukuran pori teratur, dan difusi yang selektif dalam pori-pori. Struktur berpori Ceria dapat disintesis melalui proses protecting etching dengan kombinasi CTAB dan PVA sebagai protecting agent. Dibandingkan dengan penelitian sebelumnya yang terbatas dan hanya dilakukan pada logam silika, metode ini memiliki beberapa keunggulanya itu kompatibilitas untuk oksida logam yang berbeda khususnya logam transisi, reaksi satu pot tanpa prosedur multi-langkah, sintesis cepat (10 menit) dalam proses etching hingga membentuk produk berpori. Hasil analisis morfologi permukaan dengan SEM menunjukkan bahwa Ceria hasil sintesis dengan menggunakan CTAB sebagai templating agent memiliki permukaan yang berpori dan bentuk yang mengarah seperti batang (rod) serta memiliki ukuran partikel yang lebih kecil dibandingkan Ceria hasil sintesis tanpa CTAB sebagai templating agent. Hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa kombinasi CTAB sebagai templating agent dan PVA sebagai protecting agent selama proses etching dapat mengopatimalkan pembentukan struktur berpori pada Ceria sehingga dapat berpotensi iuntuk aplikasi katalitiknya.

Abstract

From several studies it was revealed that there are still many people who use formalin and borax in food because these ingredients are easy to obtain. Nagari Sasak is one of the areas in the Sasak Ranah Pasisia District, West Pasaman Regency, located on the coast where most of its residents produce salted fish for their livelihood. The procedure used by fishermen in this area when processing salted fish is still traditional.  This study aims to analyze the presence of formalin and borax in salted fish processed by conventional fishermen in Nagari Sasak, Sasak Ranah Pasisia district, West Pasaman regency. The samples used in this study included seven types of dried salted fish obtained from three processors in KanagarianSasak. For more details, the types of salted fish tested consist of three kinds of anchovy (Stolephorus sp.), giant trevally (Caranx sp.), yellow jack (Caranx sp.), barracuda (Sphyraena jello), and tobi (Sardinella fimbriata). The research sample was obtained by purposive sampling way. In addition, the method used in this research is the descriptive method, while the data analysis is gained through qualitative descriptive methods. The test parameters of this study included formalin and borax qualitative tests and organoleptic tests of dried salted fish. The results showed that five out of seven salty fish samples, as much as 71.43%, were detected to contain formalin.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the determination of antioxidant activity in vitro on rambutan bark with experimental methods. The ethyl acetate fraction was obtained from the ethanol extraction of the rambutan bark from maceration. The formula was made by varying the concentration of 3 fractions, namely F0 without fraction, F1 (1%), F2 (1.5%), and F3 (2%) with organoleptic test parameters, each formula was in the form of a semi-solid, distinctive odor and different color. -different in white F0, orange F1, light brown F2 and brown F3. Homogeneity test on each homogeneous formula, viscosity test results obtained 2840cP, 2825cP, 2815cP, 2810cP for F0, F1, F2 and F3 respectively. The washing power test was found to be 32mL; 32.1mL; 30.5mL; 27.1mL for F0, F1, F2 and F3 respectively. The cream type test on each formula showed the W/A type. pH test results obtained 7,10; 7.14; 7.06; 6.97 for F0, F1, F2 and F3 respectively. Stability test on each formula showed stable results, irritation test on each formula showed that no irritation occurred. Determination of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method by looking at the IC50 value and determining the SPF value. The results of the antioxidant activity test obtained IC50 values ​​at F0 of 108.497 ppm in the medium category, F1 at 69.23 ppm in the strong category, F2 at 61.92 in the strong category, and F3 at 61.39 in the strong category. The best formula was formula 3 with antioxidant activity of 61.39 ppm in the strong category.

Abstract

Cinnamon leaf extract (Cinnamomum burmanni) contains flavonoid compounds that function to stimulate insulin activation so that it can be used for anti-hyperglycemia.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving cinnamon leaf extract (Cinnamomum burmanni) to male white mice induced by dexamethasone and 10% glucose and to determine the effective dose of cinnamon leaf extract (Cinnamomum burmanni) which can reduce blood glucose levels in mice. hyperglycemia. The group was divided into 6 groups, consisting of negative control, positive control, dose variation of 250mg/kg bw, 500mg/kg bw and 750mg/kg bw and the comparison group was Glibenclamide. The inducer used was dexamethasone 5mg/ml and 10% glucose. Induction of dexametason is carried out for 6 days and continued the administration of 10% glucose for 2 days, then given test preparations from days 7, 14 and 21 after the induction of dexamethasone and glucose 10%.  The results showed that the best dose in reducing blood sugar levels in mice was a dose of 750 mg/KgBW with a percentage reduction of 26.33%. Two-way ANOVA statistical analysis test on the percentage of significant antidiabetic (p<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that the ethanolic extract of cinnamon leaves has the effect of activity in lowering blood glucose levels on the 21st day.
