Abstract

Abstract

Adolescent girls are a group with a risk of experiencing a decrease in Hb, because every month they experience menstruation. Menstruation results in a lot of blood, the loss of blood is synonymous with the loss of red blood cells. The reduced number of red blood cells results in the ability of the blood to carry oxygen into the body. This study aimed to prove whether age, weight and menstruation (predictor variable) affect blood Hb (response variable). The results of the study was also to determine which predictor variable has a dominant influence on the response variable. This research was carried out at SMPN 1 Ngancar, Kediri Regency, developing a cross-sectional design of 80 students, subjects were randomly selected and willing to be a sample. The predictor variable consists of age (x1), weight (x2) and menstrual status (x3), while the response variable is blood haemoglobin (y). The results of the study determined that the predictor variables that affected the subjects' blood Hb levels were age and menstruation. Menstruation is a more dominant variable than the age of the subject. Subjects should increase awareness in consuming foods high in iron, as well as Fe supplements, especially during menstruation.

Abstract

Mental disorders occur due to disturbances in the thought process, emotions, and behavior, which cause maladaptive responses. Schizophrenia is one of the most common mental disorders, characterized by impaired cognitive function. One of the symptoms that often appears in schizophrenia is sensory perception disorders, especially auditory hallucinations. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the scale of auditory hallucinations before and after being given Group Activity Therapy (TAK) drawing intervention. The results of observations in the Nakula Room of Dr. Arif Zainudin Mental Hospital showed that the majority of patients experienced auditory hallucinations. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sampling technique used was total non-probability sampling, involving 6 patients who experienced sensory perception disorders: auditory hallucinations. The instrument used in this study was the Auditory Hallucination Rating Scale (AHRS) questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, which showed a significance value of 0,027 (p-value <0,05). This indicates a significant difference in the scale of auditory hallucinations before and after being given group activity therapy drawing. Group drawing activity therapy has a significant effect on the ability to control auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia patients.

Abstract

Massage therapy can be used to reduce symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Massage therapy is a light touch and massage technique that can increase relaxation in the body by triggering a feeling of comfort through the skin surface and reducing pain, this is because massage stimulates the body to release endorphin compounds. The purpose of this study was to describe the symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients before and after receiving lavender oil massage therapy. This study used a case report design. The subjects were Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients with symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). The data were analyzed descriptively by comparing RLS symptoms before and after the lavender oil massage therapy. Data were conducted using descriptive analysis by looking at the symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) before and after massage therapy. The findings showed that after lavender oil massage therapy was applied twice in conjunction with hemodialysis sessions, RLS symptom scores decreased from 29 (severe) to 20 (moderate). The application of lavender oil massage therapy can reduce RLS symptoms in CKD patients, so massage therapy can be used as an intervention to reduce RLS symptoms.

Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers and blood glucose control are critical aspects of managing Diabetes Mellitus. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of compliance with blood glucose control and the risk of diabetic foot ulcers in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was employed. A total of 120 subjekts were selected proportionally from a population of 280 individuals in the working area of Bangkala Health Center, Makassar City, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. A purposive sampling technique was used, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using thechi-square test. The results showed that out of 66 subjekts who were compliant with blood glucose control, 52 were not at risk of developing diabetic foot ulcers, while 14 were at risk. Conversely, among the 54 non-compliant subjekts, 36 were at risk of developing diabetic ulcers, while 11 were not. Bivariate analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000,indicating a statistically significant relationship between the level of compliance with blood glucose control and the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. These findings support the hypothesis that effective blood glucose control significantly reduces the risk of diabetic foot ulcers in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious public health issue in Indonesia, including in Jepara Regency, due to its detrimental effects on children’s physical growth and cognitive development, threatening future human resource quality. Addressing stunting in Jepara is crucial given its high prevalence and long-term consequences. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of stunting prevention programs in Jepara and to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Content analysis was applied to assess program effectiveness, identify obstacles, and formulate strategic recommendations. Interventions such as supplementary feeding (PMT) and integrated activities at village and sub-district levels showed mixed results. Among 41 children who received PMT for 90 days, only 2 successfully overcame stunting. The limited success was attributed to poor cross-sector coordination, suboptimal resource allocation, and low community participation. To enhance program effectiveness, a prevention-based approach is needed, including strengthening governance, developing technology-based data systems, and increasing community involvement. This study provides strategic recommendations to support the reduction of stunting prevalence in Jepara and contributes to achieving the national stunting reduction targets.
