Abstract

The activities of promotion can be varied nowadays as the Internet technology has been developed to get information in real time. Digital promotion, such as from website and social media, is common to use to promote product and services, such as food and beverages in the restaurant including the services. The restaurant industry in Ubud has been growing since the start of the tourism in Ubud, Bali. Moreover, the promotion activities also need to be enhanced due to development of the technology. This research discussed further the analysis of promotion and the influence of social media to influence the decision-making process of the customers to eat food in Ubud. The aim of this research was to investigate the marketing trend in promoting restaurant in Ubud. Besides, the author aimed to find the relation between the use of social media for the restaurant to influence the decision-making process of the customers to find food in Ubud. Since Ubud is a touristic area in Bali, Indonesia, the competition of the restaurant industry should have the attention of the restaurants’ owners and managers. This research used descriptive analysis method to answer the research questions and collecting both secondary and primary data through literature review, observation, interview, and questionnaires. Based on our research, we found that digital promotion, such as social media marketing through social networks (Instagram, Facebook, Tripadvisor, and Website) could enhance the number of the customers in restaurants in Ubud.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of developing students’ essay writing about tourism topics through word clustering technique. The subjects under study were students sitting on semester 6 at Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bali Internasional (International Bali Institute of Tourism). This classroom action research (CAR) was basically triggered by the fact that the subjects under study have still low capability in English essay writing about Tourism Topics. This study made use of pre-test or initial reflection (IR) and post-test research design using descriptive analysis. There were two cycles in this CAR and each cycle consists of four successive sessions. The IR was intended to establish the real pre-existing English essay writing capability of the subject under study. The Mean of the Pre-test or IR score obtained by the subjects under study was 3.63. The Mean of the Post-test or R scores both in Cycle I and in Cycle II showed an increasing figure which is 4.12 in S1, 5.06 in S2, 5.78 in S3, 6.34 in S4, 6.76 in S5, 7.14 in S6, 7.44 in S7 and 7.82 in S8. These figures showed that the Mean of the Post-test or R scores in each session was much higher than the Mean of Pre-test or IR in essay writing. The data analysis further led to the computation of the Grand Mean score for both Cycles I and Cycle II. The computation of the Grand Mean resulted in Cycle I (XI) was 5.32. The computation of the Grand Mean resulted in Cycle II was 7.29. The difference Mean of Cycle I and cycle II is 1.97 (XII – XI = 7.29 – 5.32 = 1.97). These research findings revealed that developing students’ essay writing about the tourism topics through word clustering technique was very effective.

Abstract

The implementation of Event Tourism is one form of promotion of a destination that combines a variety of products and displayed in the form of festivals, special events, Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition Tourism (MICE Tourism) with the aim of providing a personal experience at a destination. Bali that had degraded its destinations image after terrorist attacks in 2002 and 2005 has made various efforts to restore the image by organizing tourism events. Tourism Image Destinations is an essential component in selecting decision by tourists about travel destinations. This research was focusing on the study of the relationship of organizing event tourism in Bali toward tourist motivation. The study was done to 50 respondents during the silent day in Bali in 2016. By using association correlation test or Chi-Square (X2), which was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23 showed that there was a positive correlation of the implementation of tourism event toward travel motivation and its impact in establishing the destination image of Bali Island itself. Pearson Chi-Square line showed the price of p-value was 0.000 < 0.05 or Ho was rejected. So that through this study, Bali local government must continue to improve creativity in encouraging the growth of Event Tourism for the realization of destination image which safe, peaceful, and superior because of its cultural attractions, natural or man-made art. The local government is also expected to pay particular attention to the potential of this special interest market.

Abstract

Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu is a tourist destination in Bali. The temple is located in Sebatu Village, Tegallalang, Gianyar Regency. However, unlike most tourist destinations in general, Gunung Kawi Temple is infrequently visited by both foreign and domestic tourists, especially when compared with similar destinations, such as Pura Tirta Empul Tampaksiring. The purpose of this study is to determine the development strategy of “Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu” and the impact of tourist visits on the welfare of community in Sebatu Village. This study used qualitative descriptive approach which aims to describe, record, analyze, and interpret current conditions of Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu. The results from this study is the development strategies of Pura Gunung Kawi relies on some factors such as: the stability of various levels, such as security, comfort, support facilities and infrastructure; the quality and quantity of human resources; partnerships with funding agencies; the linkage function development of tourism activities; increased community participation in tourism development; and programs implementation for effective promotion on an ongoing basis. These stabilities help increase the number of tourist visits, which leads to community’s welfare in the area surrounding Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the phenomenon of Balinese shadow puppet performances as a tourism entertainment spectacle in Ubud, Bali. Basically, the Parwa shadow puppet shows as Balinese shadow puppets are stag for the purposes of traditional ceremonies with long duration. In contrast to the type of Parwa shadow puppet show in Ubud is stag for tourism, only it's stag with a shorter duration. This phenomenon certainly raises a big question about the implications of stag such performances for tourism.This article is prepared to use qualitative research methods. All data were obtained through literature study, interview and observation. After all data is obtained, it is analyzed by using the perspective of cultural studies.The results show that the commodification of Parwa shadow puppet shows for tourism has economic, social and cultural implications. Economically, the commodification of the Parwa shadow puppet show for tourism has already had implications for a change in instrumental value, adding profit to cottage owners and retailers. Socially, the commodity has implications in the popularity as well as the identity of shadows puppet group. Culturally has implications for the preservation of cultural identity in the context of tourism, mediation of cultural promotion to tourists, cultural degradation of puppets and the difficulty of enculturation.

Abstract

Balinese local cuisine has enriched the culinary dictionary for tourists who want to experience the culture and heritage of Bali. Popularity of tourist destination nowadays can be defined by the popularity of the local cuisine as the tourist image brand and image. The purpose of this article is to describe the involvement of local cuisine gradually in tourist experience quality as the integral part of food tourism in Bali. In aims of determining the tourists’ experience in seeking local cuisine and the perception of Balinese local cuisine, specifically nasi campur Bali and ayam betutu in creating food tourism in Bali. In order to develop the exploratory study, the author using exploratory descriptive methodology in this small-scale research. This study is just a beginning and an introduction to the food tourism in Bali although the practices has been experienced long ago before it is written in hospitality literature like nowadays. Abstract

This research was in purpose of conserving river environment in developing sustainable tourism by empowering local community to control balance or harmony in life depends on local genius. Heterogeneous tourism potentials owned by Badung river’s area to be enhanced as new attraction, within eco tourism concept. This research designated by using descriptive research, since authors explored data and information regarding topics to get in-depth data for further research. In this research, authors wanted to identify designation of rain park in order to arrange Badung river as an environmental educational tourism region. Data were collected through observations, documentation, and interview with qualitative descriptive as analysis technic. The result of the research showed the development of alternative tourist attraction, namely Rain Park in Badung’s River. This tourist attraction is a part of community-based tourism that utilize element of rain and water as an attraction. Moreover, this attraction will be a viable and possible option to answer any water pollution issue among Badung river area.

Abstract

Development of tourism destination should be supported by the potential of tourism activities; one of them is sports tourism. Sports tourism is a tourism activity by doing sports activities as a fundamental and significant part of a vacation. Sanur Tourism Destination, known by many tourists as a place where they can perform sports activities as a mode of movement, has tourism potential that supports the development of sports tourism. That potential is also supported by the planning and activities of stakeholders in order to develop this tourism for society and tourists in realizing sustainable tourism (green tourism).  The purposes of this research were: 1) to discover the potential that makes Sanur Tourism Destination has the opportunity to develop cycling tourism. 2) to find out the benefits of cycling tourism towards Sanur Tourism Destination. The research methodology used was descriptive research methodology. It aimed to obtain a complete profile or description of relevant aspects of an interesting phenomenon, which occurs in an individual, organization, industry, or other things. Techniques for collecting the data were direct observation, in-depth interview and documentation/literature studies.The results showed that: 1) the potential that makes Sanur Tourism Destination has the opportunity to develop cycling tourism. 2) the benefits of cycling tourism towards Sanur Tourism Destination. The recommendation of this research is expected to provide input to Stakeholder and Government in analyzing the potential of Sanur Tourism Destination in developing sports tourism as a friendly destination both in its activities and way of traveling, therefore, it is useful for the welfare of society. The results of this research could also help local people and government in reviewing the strategy of sports tourism planning in Sanur Tourism Destination in realizing sustainable tourism planning.

Abstract

This study was aimed at knowing whether the final product of composition which is given detailed feedback (error correction) performs better than of that given global feedback. The accessible population of the study was the fourth semester students of D3 tourism of The International Bali Tourism Institute, academic year 2017/2018. The study used quasi-experimental, nonrandomized control group, pretest-posttest design. This was so because the experiment was conducted in classroom setting in which the classes had been organized into classes A and B. The result of the study revealed that there was no significant difference of the two groups – experimental and control group. The result showed that the two groups had the same ability in writing paragraph. From the result concluded that the final product of composition written by students which is given detailed feedback (error correction) perform the same as of those given global feedback.

Abstract

Palungan salt farming is one of commodity that is still dominated by coastal communities in Tejakula Village. However, since 2010 the number of palungan salt farmers has degraded from 200 farmers to 21 farmers. This resulted in the production of salt manger decreased. On the other hand, salt is one of the foodstuffs needed by various parties for both consumption and industrial needs. Although the Government has issued a policy to empower traditional salt farming through PUGAR, but until now the implementation has not been maximized.  The aims  of this research is to identify the potential of internal and external physical environments in Tejakula Village to consideration in the effort to conserve local wisdom in synergy with sustainable tourism development. Using the descriptive qualitative research method, Tejakula Village has internal and external potential that is useful to be developed towards the development of living museum as cultural and educational tourism in order to conserve local wisdom and improve the economic level of the community in Tejakula Village.
