Abstract

This article is motivated by the problems that researchers found through observations at SMPN 4 Bukittinggi through interviews with teachers who teach ICT subjects, , where student learning outcomes are less than satisfactory, this is due to several factors including: student interest in the model used by the teacher when delivering lessons is very lacking, the model used is too monotonous, so that the lessons delivered by the teacher cannot be received well by students. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is an influence on the use of the Mind Mapping learning model on the learning outcomes of class VIII students in ICT subjects at SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence on the use of the Mind Mapping learning model on the learning outcomes of class VIII students in ICT subjects at SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. The type of research used is quantitative research in the form of Pre-Experiment. The population in this study were all students of class VIII A SMPN 4 Bukittinggi, the sample used the Purposive Sampling technique, namely a sampling process technique that is carried out based on certain characteristics that are considered to have a close relationship with the characteristics of the population that have been previously known. From 3 classes, 2 class representatives were obtained as samples to represent the population based on certain characteristics., Where class VIII A was obtained as the experimental class and class VIII B as the control class. Data obtained from the research results, the increase in learning outcomes of the experimental class was higher than the control class. Based on the results of the normality and homogeneity test of the test results from the two classes, it was obtained that the data of the two samples were normally distributed and homogeneous, so that the t-test could be used for hypothesis testing. According to the results of the research and discussion of the t-test calculation, tcount = 10.58 was obtained while the ttable value = 1.67 therefore tcount> ttable thus H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, meaning that there was a difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental class and the control class. So it can be concluded that learning using the Mind Mapping learning model in the experimental class has more influence on student learning outcomes compared to students who are taught without using the Mind Mapping learning model.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Mind Mapping method in the teaching of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MAN 3 Solok as an effort to improve the learning outcomes of 11th-grade students. Low student participation and difficulties in understanding the material necessitate innovative strategies to create a more engaging and effective learning environment. To address these challenges, this study employs a qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology. The research follows several stages, including initial observations, lesson planning, the implementation of the Mind Mapping method, and an evaluation of its effectiveness. Data collection techniques involve classroom activity observations, documentation of student progress, and interviews with both students and teachers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the method’s impact. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes after implementing the Mind Mapping method. In the pre-cycle stage, the average student score was only 44.94, with a mastery level of 8%. After the first cycle, the average score increased to 70.04, with a mastery level of 42%. In the second cycle, the results improved further, with an average score of 85.95 and a mastery level reaching 86%. These findings demonstrate that the Mind Mapping method effectively enhances students' comprehension and engagement in SKI learning. This study contributes to the field of education by providing empirical evidence of the effectiveness of Mind Mapping in Islamic studies, encouraging educators to adopt student-centered learning methods to enhance understanding and critical thinking skills. Additionally, this research has practical implications for curriculum development, particularly in integrating visual and interactive techniques to promote active learning in history education.

Abstract

Syech Ahmad Chatib Islamic Boarding School, which follows the Salafiyah education system, requires all students to reside in dormitories and communicate in Arabic and English daily. Although the institution has only been operational for three years, its graduates are expected to be proficient in multiple languages. This study aims to examine the Arabic language learning system based on routines designed to familiarize students with speaking the language. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data collection was conducted through observations, interviews, and documentation. The primary focus of this research is to analyze how the environment influences students' use of Arabic, particularly in daily interactions. The findings indicate that the success of Arabic language learning heavily depends on the creation of a supportive linguistic environment. Speaking fluency, as a crucial aspect of language skills, is difficult to achieve without proper environmental arrangements. Therefore, establishing a language-friendly atmosphere should be a shared responsibility among dormitory administrators and school management. Active participation from all elements of the boarding school in fostering a conducive linguistic environment enhances the effectiveness of learning. Several strategies implemented in creating this environment include vocabulary building (mufrodat), displaying Arabic vocabulary in dormitory areas, daily conversations in Arabic, as well as speech and drama activities conducted in Arabic. Consequently, the boarding school environment plays a significant role in improving students' Arabic language proficiency effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

This study explores the perceptions of students and teachers regarding the drill method for vocabulary acquisition in Arabic and English. Conducted at Mambaus Sholihin 9 Islamic Boarding School in Blitar, the research involved 41 intermediate-level students and five teachers who regularly used the drill method in their instruction. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs), then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings highlight that the drill method is effective in enhancing vocabulary retention for both Arabic and English, with 32 out of 41 students reporting improved recall. Teachers also emphasized its value in reinforcing vocabulary patterns, particularly for Arabics root-based morphology. However, challenges such as monotony and varying student proficiency levels were identified, with 9 students citing difficulty maintaining focus during repetitive drills. Language-specific differences were noted, with Arabic benefiting from pattern-based drills, while English required more contextualized examples to address nuances in usage. This study recommends integrating creative variations such as games, group activities, and contextual sentences to maintain engagement. Differentiated drills and adaptations to the structural characteristics of each language are suggested to enhance bilingual vocabulary acquisition. These findings contribute to the development of effective vocabulary teaching strategies for Arabic and English in bilingual educational settings.
