Abstract

This study aims to examine how e-commerce supports the digital transformation of MSMEs in Indonesia, with particular emphasis on social, cultural, and organizational dimensions. The research focus arises from the growing adoption of e-commerce following the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the fact that MSMEs continue to face major obstacles such as limited digital literacy, infrastructure gaps, and weak competitiveness. A qualitative approach with a collective case study design was employed to capture real experiences as well as the meanings constructed by business actors. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving 15 MSMEs located in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta, complemented by insights from MSME associations and local government representatives. The data analysis combined thematic methods with Miles & Huberman’s interactive model to identify deeper patterns. The findings highlight three central themes: first, e-commerce is perceived not only as a tool for modernizing businesses but also as a means of gaining social legitimacy; second, adaptation strategies evolve through improvisation, family support, and community-based learning; and third, the success of digital transformation is strongly influenced by external factors, particularly the role of associations and the availability of infrastructure. Collectively, the results enrich the Diffusion of Innovations theory and the Technology–Organization–Environment framework by incorporating a socio-cultural perspective, while also emphasizing the crucial role of MSMEs’ dynamic capabilities in navigating change. The study’s implications underscore the importance of community-based policies, locally tailored assistance programs, and more equitable and inclusive interventions by digital platforms. For future research, it is recommended to extend the analysis to rural areas and adopt a longitudinal approach to capture the dynamics of digital transformation over a longer period of time.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the significance level of the influence of minimum wages and inflation on labor absorption in Indonesia. The research applies a quantitative approach with field research design using secondary data in the form of time series published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for the period 1993–2023. Data collection was carried out through documentation methods, while data analysis employed multiple linear regression processed using EViews 12 software. The results indicate that, partially, the minimum wage variable has a positive and significant effect on labor absorption in Indonesia. This finding suggests that an increase in the minimum wage contributes to higher employment absorption during the study period. In contrast, the inflation variable shows a positive relationship but does not significantly affect labor absorption. This implies that rising inflation does not directly reduce or increase employment opportunities in a statistically significant manner. Simultaneously, minimum wages and inflation jointly have a significant impact on labor absorption. These findings highlight the crucial role of wage policy in maintaining labor market stability, while the effect of inflation tends to be indirect. Therefore, the government is expected to formulate adaptive minimum wage policies that take inflation into account to create a balance between workers’ welfare and the sustainability of employment opportunities.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implications of international halal certification standards on the global trade of Indonesian halal products. The focus of the study covers the impact of standard harmonization, particularly through the OIC/SMIIC, on increasing export market access and the competitiveness of Indonesian products. The method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive-comparative analysis based on national regulations, BPJPH documents, and international standards. The results of the study show that the application of international halal standards strengthens global consumer confidence and opens up wider export opportunities for Indonesian products. However, differences in regulations between countries, high certification costs, and limited capacity of halal institutions remain major obstacles. Standard harmonization and strengthening of national certification institutions are needed so that Indonesia can optimally utilize the potential of the global halal market.

Abstract

This study examines how Islamic work ethics and quality of work life affect employee performance, using Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital in Semarang as a mediating variable. One hundred workers completed questionnaires for the quantitative study, which was then evaluated using the Sobel Test and multiple linear regression. The findings show that Islamic work ethics and quality of work life have a positive impact on employee engagement and performance, while employee engagement has a positive impact on performance but has not been able to mediate the relationship between the two variables and performance. It follows that balancing technical, spiritual, and work-life factors is necessary to improve performance. It is anticipated that Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital would keep enhancing the standard of living and Islamic principles. For more general findings, more study with more variables and a wider variety of participants is advised.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed human resource management, particularly in recruitment and employee selection processes. AI-based recruitment systems utilize algorithms to enhance efficiency, speed, and objectivity in evaluating candidates. These systems allow organizations to process large volumes of applications more quickly and identify suitable candidates based on data-driven criteria. However, despite these advantages, the use of AI also presents challenges, especially concerning algorithm transparency and the potential for bias, which may compromise fairness in decision-making. Therefore, the role of human resource (HR) leaders becomes crucial in ensuring that AI systems are implemented in a transparent, accountable, and ethical manner. This study aims to analyze the application of algorithm transparency in AI-based recruitment and examine the role of HR leaders in overseeing and auditing these technologies to minimize algorithmic bias. The research adopts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by analyzing various scholarly articles related to AI in recruitment, algorithmic bias, and AI governance. The review process includes stages of identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of relevant literature from multiple scientific databases. The findings indicate that algorithm transparency is a key factor in developing fair and accountable recruitment systems. HR leaders play a strategic role through oversight mechanisms, algorithm audits, and the establishment of governance policies. Without proper supervision, AI systems risk perpetuating historical biases embedded in training data. Therefore, integrating AI with responsible HR leadership is essential to achieving transparent, fair, and sustainable recruitment practices.

Abstract

Global economic crises, technological disruption, and organizational uncertainty have driven companies to adopt efficiency measures through layoffs, which may reduce human capital value and weaken organizational sustainability. This study aims to analyze and formulate a Circular Human Resources (Circular HR) model based on talent sharing as an employee retention strategy during crises. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach guided by PRISMA to identify, select, and synthesize relevant scholarly literature on talent management, sustainable HRM, and inter-organizational collaboration. The findings indicate that inter-company talent sharing enables flexible workforce redistribution, allowing organizations to maintain employment relationships without resorting to layoffs. The effectiveness of this model is influenced by regulatory frameworks, organizational readiness, and the level of trust and collaboration among participating firms. Furthermore, the model contributes to skill enhancement, cost efficiency, and strengthened organizational resilience in times of crisis. This study offers a conceptual framework that integrates circular economy principles with collaborative human resource management strategies, providing practical implications for organizations and policymakers in designing a more adaptive and sustainable employment system.

Abstract

Construction firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2022 to 2024 serve as the focus for investigating how financial distress and firm size impact audit delay, utilizing a quantitative framework anchored in multiple linear regression analysis. Secondary data sourced from the companies' financial statements underpin this examination, where financial distress receives measurement via the Zmijewski model and firm size finds proxy through the natural logarithm of total assets. The timeliness of financial reporting directly tied to audit delay holds paramount importance, as delays compromise information quality available to stakeholders. Partial tests reveal no significant effects from either financial distress or firm size on audit delay, a pattern echoed in simultaneous assessments showing joint insignificance of these variables. Such outcomes point to external influences outside the modeled scope, notably operational complexity, auditor quality, and procedural technicalities in auditing, as primary drivers of delays. For practitioners, these insights underscore the necessity of bolstering internal operational efficiencies alongside enhanced auditor collaborations to expedite financial disclosures. Subsequent investigations ought to incorporate further pertinent variables, fostering deeper and more holistic insights into the phenomenon.
