Abstract

Dental health among school-aged children is a critical issue that directly impacts quality of life and academic achievement. This article examines models for integrating dental health education into school curricula in Indonesia and other countries to formulate effective strategies for the national context. The methodology involves a literature review with an international comparative study approach. The analysis reveals that countries such as Finland, Japan, Malaysia, and New Zealand have successfully implemented relevant, effective, and sustainable intervention models. Drawing from these best practices, this article recommends developing a hybrid model for Indonesia that integrates daily thematic activities, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and active engagement of parents and communities within the education system.

Abstract

Vision is foundational to children’s learning and development, yet millions of school-aged children suffer from undiagnosed or untreated vision problems. Despite the critical role of vision in academic achievement, eye health is rarely integrated into school curricula globally. This study presents a systematic literature review of recent evidence (2020–2024) on the integration of eye health into educational curricula, analyzing models, stakeholder roles, barriers, and measurable impacts. Using PRISMA guidelines, 35 peer-reviewed articles were selected through searches on Scopus, PubMed, ERIC, and Google Scholar. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify dominant trends across curriculum integration models, educator and optometrist roles, policy constraints, and outcomes. Findings reveal that integrated models where eye health is embedded into science or health subjects enhance students’ knowledge and behavior. Teachers trained in basic visual screening significantly improve early detection. Cross-sector collaboration between health and education authorities boosts sustainability. Key barriers include policy misalignment, funding gaps, and cultural beliefs about eyewear. Programs in India, Australia, and South Africa show strong outcomes in literacy improvement, academic gains, and cost-effectiveness. Integrating eye health into education is not merely a health intervention but a strategic investment in equity and academic potential. Policymakers must prioritize vision care within school health frameworks by empowering educators, engaging optometrists, and contextualizing approaches to local needs.

Abstract

This study aims to validate a scale that evaluates the leadership self-efficacy among educational leaders. The 92-item scale was developed by group of educational leadership practitioners at a Philippine university headed by Dr. Tan (2025) and was approved for use. To do so, the scale was administered to 200 educational leaders holding different positions. The data obtained were subjected to Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and created a seven-factor model. The factors are set of leadership skills named as Continuous Learning and Professional Growth (Factor 1), Stress Management and Well-being (Factor 2), Communication and Collaboration (Factor 3), Inspirational and Visionary Leadership (Factor 4), Integrity and Ethical Leadership (Factor 5), Adaptability and Resilience (Factor 6), and Mentorship and Empowerment (Factor 7). The model was confirmed utilizing the resulting values of five goodness of fit indices (GFIs) generated by the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). All GFIs resulted to values falling within the thresholds. These GFIs are already adequate to confirm that the model is relatively good fit. The standardized factor loadings (SFLs) and composite reliability (CR) were also excellent, thus, establishing convergent validity. Also, the estimated average variance extracted of all factors provided evidence of discriminant validity and reliability, respectively. Overall, the study resulted in a valid and reliable 26-item scale that effectively measures leadership self-efficacy among educational leaders.

Abstract

This study utilizes data from the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) to analyze the determinants affecting the science literacy performance of Indonesian and Mexican students from Indonesia and Mexico. A descriptive qualitative methodology employing a comparative study method was utilized to assess secondary data from the OECD 2022 report, pertinent scientific publications, and closely linked educational documents through content analysis and document study approaches. The findings indicated that Indonesian students' science literacy achievement was below the OECD average, with Indonesian students scoring 383 compared to 399 for Mexican students; 34% of Indonesian students demonstrated mastery of basic concept understanding (level 2), while 49% of Mexican students did so. Notable disparities exist in educational infrastructure (70% of schools in Mexico possess laboratories compared to 35% in Indonesia), budgetary allocation for education (4.3% of Mexico's GDP versus 3.6% of Indonesia's GDP), and the incorporation of the STEM education system in Mexico relative to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia, which is limited by inadequate facilities. The determinants influencing the attainment of scientific literacy include the percentage of pupils from low-income households (43% of Indonesian students compared to 27% of Mexican students) and the level of students' interest in science (18% of Indonesian students against 35% of Mexican students). Enhancement of scientific literacy can be achieved by augmented training for educators in science and the expansion of technological resources for scientific activities in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Islamic investment on economic growth in Indonesia. Islamic investment, based on Islamic principles such as the prohibition of usury and speculation, has grown significantly in recent years. This research uses a qualitative approach with secondary data from financial reports, economic statistics, and related studies. The results show that Islamic investment contributes positively to Indonesia’s economy, particularly through the Islamic financial sector and increased financial inclusion. Islamic investment instruments, such as sukuk and Islamic mutual funds, provide stable and sustainable financing alternatives. Sukuk, for instance, is used to finance infrastructure projects that support economic growth. Additionally, Islamic financial products expand access to finance for communities previously excluded from the conventional financial system. However, challenges such as low financial literacy on Islamic finance, limited Islamic financial products, and the need for stronger regulations must be addressed. Therefore, strengthening policies and supporting infrastructure is necessary to optimize the development of Islamic investment in Indonesia.
