Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of multimedia in PowerPoint presentations during thesis defense by students of the Japanese Language Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau for the academic year 2024/2025, based on Richard E. Mayer's cognitive multimedia theory. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data consisting of ten PowerPoint presentation files from students, which were analyzed using the principles of cognitive multimedia, namely the multimedia, coherence, modality, contiguity, redundancy, personalization, temporal contiguity, signaling, and segmenting principles. The results show that the majority of students have not fully applied these principles optimally. Presentations are predominantly dominated by the use of a single channel (text), excessive information, and irrelevant elements. Only a small portion of the presentations show the utilization of multimedia in accordance with Mayer’s theory. These findings indicate the need for increased student understanding of the basic concepts of multimedia learning so that the information conveyed in academic presentations is more effective, engaging, and easier to understand.

Abstract

Environmental awareness needs to be instilled early in elementary school students as part of character education. However, many students still show a lack of concern for their surroundings, such as littering, neglecting cleanliness, and having limited knowledge about environmental conservation. In this context, Community Service Program (KKN) students play a vital role in supporting schools to foster environmental values through various educational programs. This study aims to describe the role of KKN students in increasing environmental awareness among students at SDN 10 Kamang Baru. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants include KKN students, supervising teachers, and students from grades IV to VI who were actively involved in environmental activities. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that KKN students acted as facilitators, motivators, and educators in raising students’ environmental awareness. Activities conducted included environmental education campaigns, waste recycling projects, school greening, and class cleanliness competitions. Student participation significantly increased, as evidenced by improved behaviors in maintaining a clean and organized school environment. It can be concluded that the involvement of KKN students had a positive impact on shaping students’ environmental attitudes. Interactive and engaging programs proved effective in fostering environmental awareness from an early age. Similar initiatives are encouraged to be developed sustainably in other elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of debt-to-equity ratio (DER) and Return on equity (ROE) on the stock price of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk for the period 2013 to 2023. The method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis with stock price as the dependent variable and DER and ROE as independent variables. In contrast, DER is proven to have no significant effect on stock prices with a p-value above 0.05, indicating that investors may not consider DER as a major factor in determining stock prices. While this study provides important insights for management and investors regarding the importance of Return on equity (ROE) performance in determining market value, it also provides insights into the broader context of DER.
