Abstract

This study aims to explore the strategic role of student affairs management in developing students’ potential through extracurricular activities. In the context of modern education, the development of students’ academic and non-academic potential including leadership, social skills, and character building is essential. Student affairs management functions not only as an administrative system but also as a developmental strategy that facilitates student empowerment through structured programs. This research employed a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected from relevant books and reputable journal articles and analyzed to understand how effective student affairs management can support student growth through extracurricular engagement. The findings indicate that well-managed extracurricular activities—based on students’ needs, interests, and contextual relevance—serve as effective platforms for holistic student development. Key components of effective management include participatory planning, systematic implementation, and continuous evaluation. Moreover, successful programs require collaboration among school leaders, teachers, extracurricular advisors, and parents. In conclusion, student affairs management plays a vital role in optimizing students’ potential both academically and personally. Through strategic and integrative approaches, extracurricular activities can significantly contribute to shaping well-rounded, disciplined, and socially responsible individuals.

Abstract

Mathematics education in elementary schools is crucial for building a solid foundation of understanding that prepares students for more complex mathematical concepts in subsequent educational levels. However, traditional assessments, which often rely heavily on written exams, frequently fail to measure students' ability to think critically and apply mathematical concepts in real-world situations. This study aims to implement authentic assessment in mathematics learning at SDN 03 Alai to improve students' understanding and skills in applying mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry in real-life contexts. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with cycles of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through problem-based tests, observations, and student portfolios. The results show a significant improvement in students' understanding, with an average performance test score increasing by 22.6%, particularly in geometry (33.9%). This study recommends the broader implementation of authentic assessment in mathematics education to help students develop critical thinking and applied skills.

Abstract

This paper is motivated by the desire to explore more deeply the methods of guidance and counseling as referred to in the Qur’an, Surah An-Nahl verse 125. This verse contains three main methods in the guidance and counseling process: the method of hikmah (wisdom), mau‘izhah hasanah (good advice), and mujādalah ahsan (debate in the best manner). This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach in the form of a literature review, aiming to explore the counseling values embedded in the verse and their relevance to modern counseling practices. The findings show that the guidance and counseling approach based on the Qur’an is not only relevant within an Islamic context but also holds universal value in character building, behavior transformation, and strengthening interpersonal relationships. This article recommends that these three methods continue to be developed within the scientific field of Islamic guidance and counseling, so they may serve as practical guidelines for Muslim counselors in providing services aligned with Sharia principles.

Abstract

This article is a literature review that examines the role of dhikr in the counseling process by tracing its meaning and relevance based on the interpretation of the Qur'an. This study uses a literature study method by collecting and analyzing various sources such as books, journals, and research results related to dhikr from an Islamic and psychological perspective. The results of the study show that dhikr in the Qur'an has a broad meaning, not only as verbal worship, but also as a way to get closer to Allah, form a positive attitude, and calm the soul. In Islamic counseling practice, dhikr functions as an effective spiritual therapy technique to help individuals overcome anxiety, stress, and other psychological problems. Various studies support that the application of dhikr in counseling sessions can increase inner peace, mental focus, and strengthen the spiritual aspect of psychological health. In addition, dhikr has also been proven relevant as a relaxation and therapy method that supports the overall mental healing process in accordance with the spiritual values taught in the Qur'an. Therefore, dhikr has an important role in Islamic counseling both as a preventive and curative measure, as well as being a culturally sensitive approach to improving mental health in the Muslim community.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of literacy culture on the learning motivation of fourth-grade students at SDN 015 Banjar XII, Rokan Hilir Regency. This research is a quantitative study using an ex post facto design. The population in this study consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDN 015 Banjar XII, totaling 54 students. Sampling in this study was carried out using a census/total sampling technique, so the sample consisted of all 54 fourth-grade students at SDN 015 Banjar XII. The techniques and instruments used for data collection in this study were literacy culture and learning motivation questionnaires. The hypothesis test used in this research was a simple linear regression analysis, which aimed to show the relationship between literacy culture (X) and students' learning motivation (Y). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that literacy culture has a positive and significant influence on students' learning motivation. This is supported by the results of the simple linear regression analysis test, which showed a significance value (sig) of 0.000, which is smaller than the probability value of 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of literacy culture (X) on students' learning motivation (Y).

Abstract

Mastering tenses in English is a common challenge for Indonesian students due to differences in structure and time concepts between English and their native language. This article explores effective strategies for teaching tenses by emphasizing communicative approaches, the use of visual media, group discussions, peer correction, and the integration of metacognitive strategies. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review. The results indicate that teaching tenses through reflective, participatory, and collaborative activities significantly improves students’ understanding of time structure in English. With the support of teachers as active facilitators, students become more independent and confident in using tenses accurately in real communication contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of human potentials from the perspective of the Qur’an, specifically those related to qalb, ‘aql, fu’ad, a’yun, and al-uzun. Understanding these potentials forms a crucial foundation in Islamic education, considering that human beings, as subjects of education, are endowed with innate capacities (fitrah) to develop both spiritually and intellectually. Using a literature review approach, this research identifies that each potential has a specific function that supports the perfection of human beings as khalifah (vicegerents) on earth. Qalb functions as the center of inner consciousness, ‘aql as the faculty of reasoning, fu’ad as the core of conviction and inner reflection, a’yun as the visual perception tool essential for learning, and al-uzun as the auditory receptor influencing understanding and internalization of knowledge. This study highlights the importance of developing these potentials within an integrated Islamic educational framework, aiming to nurture individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright.
