Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of catcalling as a form of verbal and nonverbal sexual harassment experienced by women in public spaces. Although catcalling is often perceived as a joke, compliment, or harmless behavior, it can evoke feelings of discomfort, fear, anger, embarrassment, and insecurity among victims. This study aims to explore women's understanding of catcalling, identify the forms of catcalling occurring in Pariaman, and analyze the factors contributing to its occurrence. A qualitative approach was employed using purposive sampling, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and a literature review. The findings reveal that while some participants were familiar with the term catcalling, not all recognized it as a form of sexual harassment. The identified forms of catcalling included whistling, winking, suggestive gestures, flirtatious remarks, comments on women's bodies, and intrusive staring that caused discomfort. Catcalling commonly occurred in public places such as markets, streets, and workplaces. The findings further indicate that catcalling is closely associated with patriarchal culture, the objectification of women's bodies, and the widespread misconception that such behavior is merely playful or harmless. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of gender-based harassment in public spaces and highlights the need for greater public awareness and preventive measures to protect women's safety and dignity.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between role model exemplary behavior and the internalization of anti-corruption values among university students. A quantitative correlational approach was employed involving 194 students as research participants. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between role model exemplary behavior and the internalization of anti-corruption values (r = 0.693; p < 0.001), indicating a strong correlation. These findings suggest that the higher the level of exemplary behavior demonstrated by lecturers as role models, the higher the level of anti-corruption values internalized by students. Therefore, lecturers’ exemplary behavior plays an important role in strengthening anti-corruption education in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Mathematics learning at SMA Negeri 1 Koto XI Tarusan was marked by teacher-centred explanation, limited digital teaching materials, and weak connections between mathematical ideas and students' experiences. Semester assessment records showed that 109 of 119 Phase F students, or 91.60%, had not reached the school minimum mastery criterion of 80. This study developed and examined the validity of an ethnomathematics-integrated mathematics e-module on systems of linear equations in two and three variables. The topics were selected as a gradual reinforcement of linear modelling from two variables to three variables, based on the school needs analysis. This Research and Development study used the 4D model. The article was limited to the define, design, and develop stages because the disseminate stage could not be carried out within the available research time. Three content experts, three design and graphics experts, and one language expert, assigned in accordance with institutional guidance, assessed the prototype. The validation results were 81.77% for content, 87.50% for design and graphics, and 86.36% for language. The combined score percentage was 84.47%, which falls into the highly feasible category. The e-module can proceed to practicality testing after revisions to conceptual accuracy, links between cultural contexts and mathematical models, information density, and sentence clarity.

Abstract

The low mathematics learning outcomes of Phase F students in the Computer and Network Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 5 Padang constitute one of the problems encountered in the learning process. This condition is characterized by low student participation, limited interaction and cooperation among students, a lack of confidence in asking questions, and a learning process that is still dominated by teacher explanations. This study aimed to determine whether the mathematics learning outcomes of students taught using the Think Pair Share cooperative learning model were better than those of students taught using conventional instruction. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The population consisted of all Phase F students in the Computer and Network Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 5 Padang during the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 57 students from two classes. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, in which all members of the population were included as research participants. One class was assigned as the experimental class and received instruction using the Think Pair Share model, while the other class served as the control class and received conventional instruction. The research instrument was a mathematics achievement test in the form of essay questions that had undergone validation and pilot testing. The research data were analyzed using normality testing, homogeneity of variance testing, and a one-tailed independent-samples t-test. Because the data were normally distributed and homogeneous, hypothesis testing was conducted using the t-test. The results showed that >(4.24 > 1.68 at a significance level of α=0.05. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of the Think Pair Share cooperative learning model had a positive effect on the mathematics learning outcomes of Phase F students in the Computer and Network Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 5 Padang.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the discrepancy between the instructional models outlined in the Islamic Religious Education (IRE) lesson plans and their actual implementation in the classroom. IRE instruction is often perceived as monotonous and disconnected from students' real-life experiences, while teachers face challenges arising from students' diverse educational backgrounds and their limited foundational knowledge of Islam. This exploratory qualitative study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the implementation of IRE instructional models, the rationale for their selection, their classroom application, and the challenges encountered during implementation. The research participant was a Grade 10 Islamic Religious Education teacher in the Computer and Network Engineering (CNE) program at SMK Ma'arif NU 1 Ajibarang. Data were collected from January to May 2026 through in-depth interviews and document analysis, and were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the teacher actively implemented three primary instructional models: Group Investigation (GI) for History and Moral Education (Akhlak), Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for Islamic Creed (Aqidah) to address the decline in religious practice in the digital era, and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) for Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and Qur'an–Hadith studies. However, a significant gap remained between the lesson plans and actual classroom practice. The teacher was required to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in responding to students' limited Qur'an reading proficiency, insufficient religious knowledge, and time constraints caused by unexpected school activities. The study concludes that the implementation of IRE instructional models at SMK Ma'arif NU 1 Ajibarang is dynamic, prioritizing students' needs and instructional flexibility over rigid administrative compliance.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the emergence of technology-based fatwas and the responses of Islamic scholars to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic legal decision-making. The study focuses on the opportunities for integrating digital technology into the process of ijtihad while examining the associated epistemological challenges, the authority of Islamic scholars, and algorithmic bias. A qualitative approach based on a literature review was employed by examining classical sources of uṣūl al-fiqh alongside contemporary literature on the application of AI in Islamic legal discourse. The analysis was conducted using the framework of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah to assess the extent to which AI-assisted fatwas align with the objectives of Islamic law. The findings indicate that AI can accelerate the retrieval of legal evidence, broaden analytical capabilities, and enhance the relevance of fatwas in addressing contemporary issues such as biotechnology vaccines, Islamic financial technology (fintech), and e-commerce transactions. However, AI cannot replace Islamic scholars as mujtahids; rather, it functions as a decision-support tool in the process of legal reasoning. The major challenges identified include algorithmic bias, concerns over the legitimacy of scholarly authority, and social resistance to digitally generated fatwas. This study underscores the need for a new paradigm of digital ijtihad that positions AI as a complementary tool operating under the supervision of qualified Islamic scholars and guided by the ethical principles of Islamic law. Such an approach would enable technology-assisted fatwas to serve as valid, contextual, and beneficial innovations in contemporary Islamic jurisprudence.

Abstract

Housing is a basic human need that directly affects family welfare, yet many low income households in Indonesia still live in inadequate dwellings. The National Statistics Agency's 2024 report shows that only around 65 percent of Indonesian households occupy a proper house. This condition pushed the government to run the Housing Self Help Stimulant Assistance Program, known as BSPS, which helps low income families build or renovate their houses independently. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of BSPS toward community welfare in Kuranji Subdistrict, Padang City. The research applies a qualitative descriptive method, with data gathered through interviews, observation, and document review. Thirteen informants were selected through purposive and snowball sampling, consisting of beneficiaries, a field facilitator, staff of the Provincial Housing Unit, and a subdistrict officer. Data were analyzed using William N. Dunn's six evaluation criteria, namely effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and appropriateness. Findings show that BSPS brought real benefit by improving the physical condition of houses, making them safer and more comfortable. However, the program has not run optimally, since the assistance fund of twenty million rupiah is insufficient to cover rising material and labor costs, the beneficiary data still contains inaccuracies, and the quota provided cannot cover the number of substandard houses in the area. Communal land ownership issues also limit access for some eligible households. Overall, the program has a positive impact on housing quality, though improvements are needed in data accuracy, aid amount, and implementation mechanism to make it more effective and equitable.

Abstract

Cynophobia is a form of specific phobia characterized by an excessive fear of dogs that may interfere with an individual's daily functioning. Exposure therapy is one of the most effective interventions for treating specific phobias. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of exposure therapy in reducing anxiety in an individual with cynophobia and to understand the psychological changes experienced by the participant from the perspective of Stanislav Grof's transpersonal psychology. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design involving one participant diagnosed with cynophobia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and the Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS) administered before and after the intervention. The findings showed that exposure therapy effectively reduced the participant's anxiety level, as indicated by a decrease in the SUDS score from 7 (high distress) before the intervention to 2 (mild distress) afterward. In addition to reduced fear and avoidance behavior, the participant demonstrated changes in the way the traumatic experience underlying cynophobia was interpreted. From the perspective of Stanislav Grof's transpersonal psychology, these changes were reflected in increased awareness that not all dogs are threatening, the development of a more adaptive understanding of the feared object, and greater readiness to face situations that had previously been avoided. These findings suggest that the effectiveness of exposure therapy is reflected not only in the reduction of cynophobia symptoms but also in changes in awareness and the reinterpretation of traumatic experiences throughout the recovery process.

Abstract

Following the enactment of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, fundamental changes have occurred in the environmental protection and management regime in Indonesia, particularly regarding the provisions regulated under Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management. These changes include the elimination, amendment, and introduction of new legal norms that significantly affect the environmentally based business licensing system. One of the most prominent implications is the shift of authority from local governments to the central government, particularly in terms of policy formulation, the issuance of environmental permits, and supervision of business activities with potential environmental impacts. Under the previous regulatory regime, local governments played a strategic role in the environmental licensing process, including the assessment of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA/AMDAL) documents and the issuance of environmental permits. However, following regulatory reform through the Job Creation Law, the environmental licensing system has been integrated into a risk-based business licensing scheme, which places the central government as the dominant authority in decision-making processes. This shift has resulted in reduced local government autonomy in managing and protecting the environment within their respective regions, while also creating the potential for disharmony between central policies and local needs. This study employs a legal material analysis method with a qualitative approach based on library research. Data collection was conducted through an examination of relevant laws and regulations, legal doctrines, and scientific literature, which were further supported by expert opinions in the fields of environmental law and administrative law. This approach aims to obtain a comprehensive understanding of changes in legal norms and their implications for the authority of local governments. The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze in depth the authority of local governments in environmental protection and management after the enactment of the Job Creation Law, particularly concerning changes in the substance of environmental licensing regulations. Furthermore, this study also aims to identify the centralization of authority by the central government, which was previously under the domain of local governments, as well as its implications for the principle of regional autonomy and the effectiveness of environmental protection in Indonesia.
