Abstract

Although ESG disclosure has received increasing scholarly attention, research examining the disaggregated effects of Environmental, Social, and Governance disclosure on banking profitability and the moderating role of firm size in the Indonesian banking sector remains limited. This study aimed to analyze and empirically test the effects of Environmental, Social, and Governance disclosure on the financial performance of banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2020–2024, as measured by Return on Assets, and to examine the moderating role of firm size in these relationships. A quantitative approach with a causal-associative design was employed, involving 12 banking companies selected through purposive sampling from 46 IDX-listed banks. Data were obtained from Bloomberg Terminal for ESG pillar scores and audited annual financial reports and were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings show that Environmental Disclosure and Governance Disclosure have positive and significant effects on Return on Assets, whereas Social Disclosure has a significant negative effect. Firm size positively affects Return on Assets and moderates all three ESG–financial performance relationships by weakening the positive effects of Environmental and Governance Disclosure while mitigating the negative effect of Social Disclosure. These findings indicate that ESG dimensions do not uniformly enhance banking profitability and that firm size shapes the financial implications of ESG disclosure. The study contributes to the development of legitimacy theory and stakeholder theory in sustainable banking and extends understanding of size-contingent ESG effects in emerging markets. The findings imply that bank management, regulators, and the OJK should adopt size-differentiated ESG disclosure strategies to strengthen sustainable financial performance and support more context-sensitive ESG governance in the Indonesian banking sector.

Abstract

Local government financial performance is a key indicator for evaluating the success of regional autonomy and the effectiveness of public financial management. However, disparities in financial performance across Indonesian provinces reflect differences in fiscal capacity and the quality of regional financial governance. This study aims to analyze the effects of government size, intergovernmental transfers, regional expenditure, and audit findings on local government financial performance in Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed using secondary data obtained from the Audit Reports of the Supreme Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2022–2024 period. The sample comprised 34 provincial governments selected through purposive sampling, yielding 102 observations. Data were analyzed using panel data regression with EViews 13. The findings reveal that government size and regional expenditure have a significant negative effect on local government financial performance. In contrast, intergovernmental transfers have a significant positive effect, while audit findings have no significant effect. These results indicate that effective resource management and fiscal capacity play a more decisive role in strengthening financial performance than asset magnitude or the number of audit findings. This study contributes to public sector financial management literature by providing empirical evidence on the determinants of provincial financial performance in Indonesia. The practical implications emphasize the need to optimize asset management, utilize intergovernmental transfers effectively, and allocate regional expenditure toward more productive activities to improve financial performance and strengthen local fiscal independence.

Abstract

Although self-efficacy, school climate, and student engagement are widely recognized as important determinants of academic participation, empirical understanding of their interrelated dynamics in elementary education remains limited. This study aims to examine the individual and collective relationships among self-efficacy, school climate, and student engagement among upper-grade elementary students. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 43 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale instruments and analyzed using Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and first-order partial correlation with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The findings reveal that self-efficacy has a statistically significant positive relationship with student engagement (r = 0.606, p < .05), as does school climate (r = 0.570, p < .05). Together, self-efficacy and school climate explain 43.8% of the variance in student engagement (R² = 0.438, p < .05). Partial correlation analysis further confirms that self-efficacy (r = 0.409, p < .05) and school climate (r = 0.332, p < .05) each remain significantly associated with student engagement after mutual statistical control. These findings indicate that student engagement in elementary education is shaped by both intrapersonal factors and contextual learning environments. This study contributes to educational psychology and elementary education literature by integrating personal and environmental perspectives on student engagement. Practically, the findings imply that schools should strengthen students’ self-belief while fostering supportive, inclusive, and motivating school climates to enhance learning engagement. Abstract

Digital authentic assessment through collaborative feedback has received increasing attention in academic writing instruction; however, research specifically examining students’ perceptions of Google Docs as a collaborative feedback-based digital authentic assessment medium remains limited. This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of collaborative feedback-based Google Docs in academic writing assessment. A descriptive quantitative approach supported by qualitative responses was employed using a survey design, involving 41 university students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire consisting of 30 closed-ended items and three open-ended questions. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean score, standard deviation, and category interpretation, while open-ended responses were analyzed descriptively through thematic categorization. The findings indicate that students’ overall perception was positive, with a mean score of 3.217. The highest-rated indicator was digital and collaborative feedback, with a mean score of 3.293, which was categorized as very positive. These findings suggest that Google Docs supports feedback delivery, revision, collaboration, and process-based writing assessment in academic writing instruction. This study concludes that collaborative feedback-based Google Docs serves as an effective digital authentic assessment medium for strengthening students’ engagement in the writing process. The study contributes to the development of digital authentic assessment theory and extends current understanding of collaborative feedback practices in academic writing. The findings provide practical implications for lecturers in designing clearer rubrics, structured feedback procedures, and digital literacy guidance to optimize Google Docs-based assessment.

Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce has transformed consumer purchasing behavior in online environments, particularly under conditions of information asymmetry and transaction uncertainty. In such contexts, consumers increasingly rely on online customer reviews, online customer ratings, platform convenience, and marketplace trust as evaluative cues in making purchase decisions. This study aimed to examine the influence of online customer reviews, online customer ratings, convenience, and trust on purchase decisions among university students using the Shopee application in Purwokerto. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The respondents were students who had completed at least two purchases on Shopee within the previous six months. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that online customer reviews, online customer ratings, convenience, and trust each have a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions. Among these variables, convenience emerged as the most influential determinant of purchasing behavior. The coefficient of determination indicates that the four independent variables collectively explain 77.7% of the variance in purchase decisions. The study concludes that information quality, platform usability, and consumer trust are critical factors shaping online purchasing decisions in e-commerce environments. These findings contribute to the literature on digital consumer behavior by demonstrating the combined role of informational, functional, and relational factors in purchase decision-making, while offering practical implications for e-commerce platforms to optimize review and rating systems, improve user convenience, and strengthen consumer trust to sustain competitiveness in the digital marketplace.

Abstract

Although Indonesia’s participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations has received considerable scholarly attention, research specifically addressing the intersection of defense diplomacy, strategic autonomy, and rising peacekeeping risks within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) remains limited. This study aimed to analyze how Indonesia balances its defense diplomacy objectives and strategic autonomy amid escalating operational risks affecting peacekeeping personnel in southern Lebanon. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical case study design was employed, relying on purposively selected documentary sources relevant to Indonesia’s participation in UNIFIL. Data were collected through document analysis of United Nations reports, UNIFIL publications, Indonesian government documents, policy statements, academic literature, and reputable international media sources. The data were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and synthesis of recurring themes. The findings indicate that deteriorating security conditions in southern Lebanon have significantly transformed the operational environment of peacekeeping missions, increasing personnel vulnerability and operational unpredictability for troop-contributing countries, including Indonesia. Despite these growing risks, Indonesia has maintained its participation in UNIFIL while strengthening institutional preparedness, diplomatic engagement, and force protection considerations. The findings further suggest that Indonesia’s continued participation reflects a strategic balancing process between maintaining international legitimacy and responding to domestic accountability concerning personnel safety. This study contributes to defense diplomacy and strategic autonomy literature by demonstrating that peacekeeping participation increasingly requires institutional adaptation under volatile and high-risk operational conditions. The study concludes that stronger institutional preparedness and multilateral coordination are essential to sustaining Indonesia’s peacekeeping commitments in increasingly unstable conflict environments. Its implications include theoretical contributions to peacekeeping and defense diplomacy scholarship and practical relevance for policymakers in strengthening deployment preparedness and peacekeeper protection mechanisms.

Abstract

Scientific literacy and critical thinking skills are essential competencies for students in responding to the demands of twenty-first-century education. However, various assessments indicate that Indonesian students’ scientific literacy remains relatively low, underscoring the need for instructional models that actively engage learners in inquiry-based knowledge construction. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Inquiry Learning model on the scientific literacy and critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Sukadanau 04. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was employed. The sample consisted of 60 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, and were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and regression analysis. The findings revealed that the Inquiry Learning model had a positive and significant effect on students’ scientific literacy and critical thinking skills. The independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), while regression analysis produced an R² value of 0.707, indicating that the model substantially explained improvements in the measured competencies. These findings demonstrate that Inquiry Learning is more effective than conventional instruction in enhancing scientific literacy and critical thinking skills among elementary school students. The study contributes to science education by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of Inquiry Learning as an alternative instructional model for fostering twenty-first-century competencies in elementary education.

Abstract

The rapid growth of TikTok Shop as a social commerce platform has reshaped consumer purchasing behavior in the beauty industry, particularly by integrating product promotion, peer interaction, and transaction processes within a single digital environment. However, the determinants of purchase decisions for local cosmetic products on TikTok Shop remain underexplored. This study aimed to examine the effects of brand image, trust, perceived value, and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) on consumers’ purchase decisions regarding Hanasui products on TikTok Shop. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires from 100 Hanasui consumers in Purwokerto who had purchased products through TikTok Shop, using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that brand image, trust, perceived value, and e-WOM have positive and significant effects on purchase decisions, with perceived value emerging as the most influential predictor. Collectively, these four variables explain 50.7% of the variance in purchase decisions. The study concludes that consumers’ purchase decisions in social commerce environments are shaped by brand perception, consumer trust, perceived product value, and digital information generated through online interactions. These findings contribute to the literature on social commerce and digital consumer behavior by demonstrating the combined role of cognitive, relational, and informational factors in cosmetic product purchase decisions, while offering practical implications for companies to strengthen brand image, enhance trust, optimize product value, and manage e-WOM more effectively.
