Abstract

Coffee leaves obtained through selective picking before coffee plant pruning in Sampean Village, Sipirok District, South Tapanuli Regency, remain underutilized despite their potential to be processed into coffee leaf tea with added economic value. This study aimed to evaluate the suitability of an agricultural extension program design, assess coffee growers’ acceptance of the program, and determine changes in their knowledge and attitudes toward coffee leaf utilization. An evaluative research design with a quantitative descriptive approach was employed from April to May 2026. The study involved 66 coffee growers from seven farmer groups, with the sample size determined using the Slovin formula and participants selected through proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation and analyzed using Likert scales, continuum analysis, and the normalized gain (N-Gain) test. The extension program comprised instructional materials on coffee leaf tea processing, lectures, practical demonstrations, discussions, printed folders, authentic tools and materials, and tutorial videos. The findings show that growers’ acceptance of the extension design reached 85.65%, indicating a very high level of acceptance. Their knowledge increased from 63.4% on the pre-test to 91.4% on the post-test, with an N-Gain score of 76.7%, categorized as high. Growers’ attitudes toward the innovation reached 88.45%, reflecting a very positive response. The study concludes that the extension program design was highly accepted and effective in improving growers’ knowledge and attitudes toward processing coffee leaves into coffee leaf tea. These findings provide practical implications for agricultural extension agencies and farmer groups seeking to promote the productive use of coffee by-products, strengthen innovation adoption, and create additional economic opportunities for coffee-growing communities.

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is widely employed to strengthen students’ critical thinking; however, empirical research on its integration with Vidumath media in elementary mathematics education remains limited. This study aimed to examine the effect of Vidumath-assisted PBL on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. A quantitative quasi-experimental approach with a nonequivalent control group design was employed, involving 51 fourth-grade students from SD Negeri Klepu 01 and SD Negeri Klepu 02 who were selected using a non-random sampling approach. The experimental group comprised 26 students, while the control group consisted of 25 students. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, observation sheets, and questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, and an independent-samples t test. The findings indicate that students taught through Vidumath-assisted PBL demonstrated significantly higher critical thinking skills than those who received conventional instruction. The experimental group achieved a mean post-test score of 81.38, compared with 68.60 in the control group, with the difference being statistically significant (p < .001). These findings confirm that integrating PBL with Vidumath media can facilitate active, meaningful, and student-centered mathematics learning while strengthening students’ higher-order thinking skills. The study contributes to constructivist learning research by providing empirical evidence of the effectiveness of combining problem-based instruction with digital learning media in elementary mathematics education. Practically, the findings provide a reference for elementary school teachers seeking to implement innovative instructional strategies to enhance students’ critical thinking skills. Further research should examine the implementation of Vidumath-assisted PBL across different educational levels, subject areas, and learning contexts.

Abstract

The growing use of social media as an educational medium creates new opportunities for Arabic language learning among young children; however, limited attention has been paid to the developmental suitability of instructional strategies presented in short-form digital content. This study aimed to analyze instructional strategies for teaching mufradāt and mahārah al-kalām in the Instagram content of @abufairuzahmadridwan and interpret their compatibility with young children’s cognitive development through Jean Piaget’s constructivist perspective. Employing a qualitative content analysis design, the study purposively examined 10 Arabic learning videos through transcription, coding, categorization, data reduction, data display, and theoretical interpretation. The findings reveal two predominant instructional patterns: experiential-contextual vocabulary learning and guided contextual speaking. Vocabulary was introduced primarily through concrete objects, physical actions, demonstrations, visual representations, and familiar situations, whereas speaking activities were structured through modeling, imitation, repetition, question-and-answer exchanges, and guided oral production. From a Piagetian perspective, these strategies correspond to the preoperational stage, particularly its emphasis on concrete experience and symbolic representation, and reflect the cognitive processes of assimilation, accommodation, and equilibration. Nevertheless, opportunities for play-based learning, independent exploration, and spontaneous communication remained comparatively limited. The study concludes that short-form social media content can support developmentally appropriate Arabic language learning when linguistic input is integrated with concrete, contextual, and multimodal experiences. These findings contribute to the application of cognitive constructivism in digital early childhood language education and imply that Arabic learning content should balance guided instruction with greater opportunities for play, exploration, and child-initiated language use.

Abstract

Although digital radicalization and technology-enabled terrorism have received considerable scholarly attention, research integrating the dynamics of digital radicalization, Indonesia’s legal framework, and institutional counterterrorism strategies within a unified analytical perspective remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of digital radicalization in Indonesia, evaluate the adaptation of the national legal framework to technology-based terrorism, and examine institutional strategies for addressing emerging digital security threats. A qualitative documentary research design was employed, with sources purposively selected from primary legal documents, official government reports, policy publications, and peer-reviewed academic literature relevant to digital radicalization and counterterrorism. Data were collected through systematic document review and analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis involving data reduction, coding, categorization, thematic synthesis, and interpretation. The findings reveal three major themes. First, digital radicalization has transformed terrorism from an organization-centered phenomenon into a digitally mediated process characterized by the online dissemination of extremist content, technology-enabled recruitment, self-radicalization, and increased vulnerability among children and adolescents. Second, Indonesia’s regulatory framework has expanded beyond conventional criminal justice approaches by incorporating preventive governance, institutional coordination, and counter-radicalization policies through Law Number 5 of 2018, Presidential Regulation Number 8 of 2026, and the National Medium-Term Development Plan 2025–2029. Third, Indonesia’s counterterrorism strategy has undergone institutional transformation through the integration of digital surveillance, collaborative governance, digital literacy, counter-narrative initiatives, and community-based prevention programs. The study concludes that addressing technology-based terrorism requires adaptive governance that combines legal reform, cross-sectoral coordination, and preventive digital resilience. The findings contribute to digital counterterrorism scholarship by integrating digital radicalization, regulatory adaptation, and institutional transformation within a single analytical framework. They also provide practical implications for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, cybersecurity institutions, educational organizations, and digital platform stakeholders seeking to strengthen Indonesia’s capacity to respond to evolving technology-driven terrorist threats. Future research should empirically evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of these strategies and compare their application across national contexts.

Abstract

Cracker-industry wastewater contains substantial organic matter and suspended solids that may pollute the environment when discharged without adequate treatment. This study aimed to characterize cracker-industry wastewater, evaluate the phytoremediation effectiveness of water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes), and determine the effects of plant mass and contact time on total suspended solids (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), dissolved oxygen (DO), and pH. A batch-system experiment was conducted using plant masses of 400 and 600 g, alongside a control, with contact times of 0, 3, 6, and 9 days. The initial wastewater characteristics were 168 mg/L TSS, 492.8 mg/L COD, 8.02 mg/L DO, and a pH of 6.5. The findings demonstrate that phytoremediation using P. stratiotes effectively reduced TSS, COD, and BOD concentrations and improved wastewater quality. After nine days, the highest TSS removal efficiency was 84% with 600 g of plant biomass, resulting in a final concentration of 27.5 mg/L. The highest COD removal efficiency was 63% with 600 g of plant biomass, producing a final concentration of 182.05 mg/L, whereas the highest BOD removal efficiency was 75% with 400 g of plant biomass, resulting in a final concentration of 21.30 mg/L. Contact time significantly affected COD and BOD reductions and changes in pH, while plant mass had no significant effect. The study concludes that P. stratiotes has considerable potential as a simple, economical, and environmentally sustainable phytoremediation agent for cracker-industry wastewater. These findings provide practical evidence for developing low-cost biological wastewater-treatment strategies for small-scale food-processing industries.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into human resource management (HRM) functions as organizations accelerate their digital transformation. However, comprehensive studies mapping the intellectual development, thematic evolution, and emerging directions of AI-HRM research remain limited. This study aims to examine the growth, research trends, and future directions of AI applications in HRM through bibliometric analysis. A quantitative bibliometric approach was employed using literature retrieved from the Scopus database based on predefined search terms and screening criteria. Bibliometric performance and thematic analyses were conducted using Biblioshiny within the bibliometrix package, while bibliometric networks were visualized using VOSviewer. The analysis identified 856 publications indexed between 1991 and 2027 across 358 publication sources, involving 2,452 authors and an international collaboration rate of 33.18%. The field has experienced substantial growth, particularly since 2019. Keyword analysis identified artificial intelligence, human resource management, and machine learning as the dominant research themes, while thematic evolution revealed a shift toward increasingly specialized topics, including generative AI, large language models, and digital transformation. These findings demonstrate that AI-HRM research is evolving in parallel with technological advances and the expanding integration of AI into HRM practices. This study contributes a comprehensive mapping of the field’s intellectual and thematic development and provides a foundation for researchers to identify emerging topics, underexplored areas, and future research opportunities in AI-enabled HRM.

Abstract

Tax aggressiveness remains a major concern in corporate taxation because it may reduce government revenue while reflecting firms’ strategic tax-planning practices. However, empirical evidence regarding the effects of corporate financial characteristics on tax aggressiveness remains inconclusive, particularly within Indonesia’s food and beverage subsector. This study aims to examine the effects of profitability, firm size, and leverage on tax aggressiveness among food and beverage companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2023–2025. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed using secondary data derived from audited annual financial statements. The sample comprised 14 companies selected through purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS. The findings indicate that profitability, firm size, and leverage have no significant effects on tax aggressiveness, either partially or simultaneously. These results suggest that corporate tax aggressiveness may be shaped by factors beyond financial performance, organizational scale, and capital structure. This study contributes recent empirical evidence to the corporate taxation literature and highlights the need to consider broader organizational, governance, and regulatory determinants when examining corporate tax behavior. The findings also provide practical implications for companies and relevant stakeholders seeking to strengthen transparent, accountable, and sustainable corporate tax governance.

Abstract

Firm value remains a central consideration for investors; however, empirical evidence regarding the effects of firm size, liquidity, and capital structure among Sharia-compliant automotive companies remains inconsistent. This study aims to examine the partial and simultaneous effects of firm size, liquidity, and capital structure on firm value. A quantitative approach with an associative explanatory design was employed using data from 12 automotive companies listed in the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index during 2020–2024. Purposive sampling yielded 60 firm-year observations. Secondary data were collected from financial statements and market information and analyzed using panel data regression with EViews 12. The findings indicate that firm size has a negative and significant effect on firm value, whereas liquidity has a positive and significant effect. Capital structure has a negative but statistically insignificant effect on firm value. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect firm value, although the model explains only 15.39% of its variation. These findings extend the application of signaling theory by showing that investors interpret corporate financial information based on asset utilization, short-term financial capacity, and financing risk. The study contributes empirical evidence on the determinants of firm value in the context of Sharia-compliant automotive companies. Practically, companies should improve asset productivity, maintain efficient liquidity levels, and align debt decisions with their cash-flow capacity. Future research should incorporate additional determinants, including profitability, dividend policy, corporate governance, and macroeconomic conditions.
