Abstract

Objective: This research explores the leadership values of Sultan Muhammad Bello and their relevance to contemporary Nigerian political and administrative systems. Sultan Muhammad Bello, the son of Shaykh Uthman B. Foduye, played a key role in establishing the Sokoto Caliphate in West Africa. Educated under his father’s guidance and by prominent scholars, Bello's leadership qualities shone in jihad warfare and governance. The study aims to examine how Bello's principles can address modern challenges in Nigeria's democratic governance, including corruption, political fragmentation, and social injustice. Theoretical framework: Theoretical underpinnings are rooted in Islamic leadership principles, emphasizing justice, consultation (shura), knowledge, and service to the public. These values are juxtaposed with the demands of contemporary governance, highlighting their timeless relevance. Literature Review: The literature review provides a comprehensive examination of Bello’s written works and historical records, shedding light on his leadership philosophy and its alignment with Islamic values. Methods: This qualitative research employs a descriptive-analytical method, with data gathered from primary sources, such as Bello’s writings, and secondary sources, including historical and scholarly analyses. The data is organized into thematic sub-topics: Nigerian politics and administration, leadership selection, candidate qualifications, obedience to authority, unity, public service, security, justice, economic empowerment, and consultation. Results: The findings reveal that Bello's leadership principles remain highly pertinent. His emphasis on justice, public service, consultation, and unity provides a robust framework for addressing governance challenges in Nigeria. Moreover, his focus on education and economic empowerment underscores the importance of knowledge and capacity building in fostering societal progress. Bello’s values promote inclusivity and effectiveness in governance, offering solutions to the complexities of Nigeria’s diverse and modern democratic system. Implications: The study's implications highlight the potential of Bello's leadership principles in fostering transparent governance and reducing corruption. The emphasis on unity and justice can mitigate political fragmentation and social inequality, while his advocacy for knowledge and economic empowerment aligns with sustainable development goals. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its contextual approach, bridging traditional Islamic leadership values with contemporary Nigerian political needs. It contributes significantly to the discourse on Islamic leadership in West Africa, providing insights for policymakers and academics interested in reconstructing leadership paradigms for effective nation-building.

Abstract

Objective: The objective of the current study was to reveal most prominent causes of    Socotri language and propose scientific and practical solutions. It explores the historical roots of Socotri as an ancient South Arabian language predating Classical Arabic and examines its relationship with Arabic linguistic structures. Theoretical framework: This study examines the phonological and morphological phenomena in Socotra, focusing on the reasons for its many deviations, which are due to the presence of an ancient South Arabian language whose roots extend back to the pre-Northern Arabic or Classical Arabic, and which still exists till today, and is used among the inhabitants of the island-Socotra. It also identifies possible solutions to them, based on the theories of phonetics and morphology, and the analysis of linguistic differences affected by historical, social, and environmental factors. Literature review: The review addresses previous studies on phonetic and morphological phenomena in Socotra, highlighting the contributions of scholars to this area. It also examines the theoretical foundations of these phenomena and their role in preserving them from deviations. Methods: The study adopts an inductive, analytical, and descriptive methodology, examining linguistic deviation in general, the relationship between the Socotri language and Arabic, and the phonetic and morphological deviations it contains, while presenting some proposals for addressing this phenomenon. Results: The results reveals that the difference in some sounds between Arabic and Socotra, the difference in some phonetic syllables, and the distribution of vowels in them are among the most important causes of phonetic and morphological deviation. Implications: The study's implications include language preservation, linguistic policy recommendations, and an enhanced understanding of Socotra’s linguistic diversity, contributing to broader discussions on aspects of languages and dialectology. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its focus on the most prominent areas of phonetic and morphological deviation in Socotra, a topic that has not been addressed in depth in previous studies.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the influence of reliability and ease of use on online repurchase intention among the staff of the University of Maiduguri. Theoretical Framework: Grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Expectation-Confirmation Theory (ECT), the study explores how these factors shape consumer repurchase behaviour. Literature Review: Studies highlight the role of reliability and ease of use in online shopping. Reliability fosters trust and satisfaction, increasing repurchase intentions. Ease of use enhances user experience but has a debated impact on repurchase intention. Research in emerging markets emphasizes trust, website functionality, and service quality as key determinants of repurchase behaviour. However, gaps exist in understanding these factors in Nigeria’s e-commerce sector. Methods: A quantitative approach was used, with data from 436 respondents via structured questionnaires. Snowball sampling was employed, and analysis was conducted using SPSS. Results: Reliability significantly influences online repurchase intention, indicating that dependable e-commerce services encourage repeat purchases. However, ease of use and trust showed an insignificant relationship with repurchase intention. Implications: E-commerce firms should enhance reliability to build customer trust. While ease of use may not directly impact repurchase decisions, a user-friendly platform is still essential. Novelty: This study provides empirical evidence on the role of reliability and ease of use in repurchase intention in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of reliability in e-commerce strategies. Ensuring consistent, reliable services strengthens customer loyalty. Future research should explore factors like personalized experiences and post-purchase support to further understand online repurchase behaviour.
