Abstract

Breast cancer is still one of the fears for most women in the world and ranks first regarding the number of cancers in Indonesia and is one of the first contributors to cancer deaths. Breast cancer patients with low self-acceptance will cause stress, lack of confidence, lack of enthusiasm for recovery and will affect poor health management. Self-acceptance is directly proportional to the patient's quality of life. The greater the patient's self-acceptance of their disease, the better the quality of life of breast cancer patients. The purpose of this analysis is to explain self-acceptance in breast cancer patients. An analysis of the concept of self-acceptance was conducted on articles published between 2019 and 2024. The databases used include Google Scholar, Proquest, Pubmed, and Science Direct. The results of the analysis show that the concept of self-acceptance has four attributes, namely, acceptance of physical changes, acceptance of physical and emotional limitations, accepting social and role limitations, accepting the healing process and uncertainty. Based on these attributes, nurses assess self-acceptance in breast cancer sufferers comprehensively. The results of the assessment will be the basis for nurses in determining appropriate diagnoses and nursing interventions to improve self-acceptance in breast cancer patients, by reducing psychological burden to improve quality of life.

Abstract

The formation of religious character is the key to the success of educational institutions in producing graduates with integrity in the midst of global challenges. This success is not only determined by the formal curriculum, but also the implementation of a *hidden curriculum* that includes values, norms, and good practices in the school environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation model of *hidden curriculum* in the formation of religious character through a multi-case qualitative study with the Miles and Huberman analysis approach. The results of the study show three main findings. First, the concept of "Interconnective-Habitualization of Character" (CPI) which integrates religious values, Pancasila, and national culture holistically in religion-based schools to form a generation of ulama-intellectuals. Meanwhile, in public schools, the *hidden curriculum* is more adaptive, emphasizing the values of honesty, discipline, and tolerance in a plural environment. Second, the implementation is carried out through three channels: formal in Islamic Religious Education, boarding school culture for habituation of religious values, and extracurricular activities as a stimulus for the application of these values. Approaches such as example, habituation, advice, punishment, and technology support implementation. Third, the implication is to increase the religiosity of students, such as worship discipline and involvement in religious activities. This study formulates the "Interconnected-Hidden Curriculum in The Formation of Religious Character" (I-HC) model, which integrates religious education to strengthen the holistic image in faith-based schools and create an inclusive environment in public schools. This model is relevant in building religious characters with integrity in diverse social contexts.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy has become crucial in transforming higher education in Indonesia. One of the programs adopted within the MBKM framework is the Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA), aimed at enhancing international student mobility. This study analyzes the factors determining student success in the IISMA program at the State Polytechnic of Manado. The research methodology used is qualitative, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and literature review. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman method. The tentative observation shows that the critical determinants of success are highlighted factors such as student motivation, English language proficiency, academic and administrative support, and international experience. The implications of this research underscore the importance of considering these factors in designing policies and supporting programs for students interested in international programs at universities. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for developing policies and implementing MBKM programs at the institutional level, particularly at the State Polytechnic of Manado and other educational institutions in general.

Abstract

Hypnotherapy is a method that engages a person in relaxation and leads them into a trance-like condition. There are many benefits that can be obtained by doing hypnotherapy, one of which is to overcome sleep disorders or insomnia. Insomnia refers to a disruption or irregularity in sleep manifested as ongoing challenges in falling asleep or staying asleep and/or waking up too early. Anxiety is often linked to difficulties with sleep. Increased anxiety and fear can hinder the ability to both initially fall asleep and remain asleep throughout the night. In this case report, we report a female patient who complained of insomnia for 2 years. Patients complain that it is very difficult to start sleeping. In addition, patients also experience various symptoms such as fatigue, lack of focus and muscle tension in the neck and several places. This patient underwent hypnotherapy and found that the root of the problem was an anxiety disorder that she had not been aware of. This anxiety disorder is also confirmed by anamnesis and symptoms experienced by the patient and assessment using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAM-A). After the hypnotherapy session, we followed up with the patient for one week after the therapy session. Patients show significant changes with better sleep quality and reduced patient anxiety symptoms.

Abstract

Epidermoid cyst is a tumor-like lesion that is generally benign, containing slow-growing keratin and lined by epithelial cells such as epidermis located in the dermis or subcutaneous, where this cyst is very rare in the parotid gland. The incidence of epidermoid cysts in the parotid gland is unclear due to limited reports. Although this lesion is benign, an accurate diagnosis is very important early, so that better management can be carried out. In this case report, a 23-year-old female patient was reported with a lump on the back of the right cheek since 3 years ago. The lump was initially small and slowly enlarged to a fairly large size of about 3 x 4 cm. The lump was the same color as the skin, the punctum was not visible, it was soft to the touch, partially fixed and there was no palpable fluctuation. Ultrasonography examination showed a hypoechoic shadow with a clear boundary in the right parotid area, so that the initial diagnosis was as a right parotid tumor. Initially the plan was for superficial parotidectomy, but switched to parotid cyst excision after the incision in the parotid area showed that the cyst was visible. The removed cyst was examined histopathologically and showed cyst wall tissue with a surface covered with squamous epithelium, the lumen containing a keratin mass, thus confirming that the lesion was an epidermoid cyst. Epidermoid cysts in the parotid gland can be misdiagnosed as parotid tumors due to their similar clinical and radiological manifestations. Accurate identification of clinical and pathological features is essential to differentiate them. Slow growth and ambiguous radiological appearance can lead to misdiagnosis. Complete excision of the parotid cyst is the primary treatment of choice for epidermoid cysts.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the duality of the structure carried out by MNC Group through Okezone.com in news related to the Broadcasting Bill. The delay in the ratification of the Broadcasting Law No. 32 of 2002 is the background for the dominance of media discourse by MNC Group which fights for a Multi Mux or Hybrid Mux system that is more beneficial to them than the government-supported Single Mux model. This research uses a critical paradigm with a qualitative approach based on Anthony Giddens' structural theory and Teun A. van Dijk's critical discourse analysis. The results of the study show that 12 news articles in Okezone.com throughout 2017–2018 reflect the dominance of MNC Group in building public opinion to support the Multi Mux system. The duality of structures is seen in three dimensions: significance, dominance, and legitimacy, which systematically intervene in the public space. This research highlights that economic-political motives are the main drivers, where the power of the media is used to marginalize the public interest for the benefit of certain groups. This study concludes that the power of the media supported by the socio-political structure has the potential to threaten the balance of information and democracy in the Indonesian broadcasting ecosystem.

Abstract

Vote buying is a form of money politics that is a serious threat to the integrity of the democratic process, especially among young voters, including students. This study aims to analyze student voter resistance to the practice of vote buying (money politics) in the 2024 election, with a case study of students of the Department of Business Administration of the Manado State Polytechnic. This study uses a quantitative survey mix method approach supported by group discussions and in-depth interviews. The findings show that student resistance to vote buying is partial and tends to be passive. As many as 50.5% of students stated that they rejected the offer of vote buying, but another 49.5% admitted to accepting. The rate of active rejection in the form of reporting of candidates who do vote buying is very low, with only 26.1% of students supporting reporting. This low active resistance is influenced by factors such as personal relationships with candidates, normalization of money politics in the surrounding environment, and uncertainty in attitudes as reflected in the average Likert scale score of 3.3 (neutral/hesitant). However, support for anti-vote buying campaigns is quite high, with an average scale of 3.9, and 86.9% of students agree to be a pioneer in rejecting the practice. This study highlights the gap between the moral attitude of students who reject vote buying and the concrete actions needed to stop the practice, as well as the importance of intervention through education and legal protection for whistleblowers.
