Abstract

Parenting patterns greatly influence the social-emotional development of early childhood. In families with stepparents, differences in parenting approaches between biological parents and stepparents often cause imbalances, which can hinder children's growth and development. This study aims to examine the parenting patterns of stepparents in developing the social-emotional development of early childhood at RA Muslimat Baitul Huda Sidoharjo, Selagai Lingga, Central Lampung. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, involving five stepparents and early childhood as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and tested for validity using triangulation of sources, techniques, and theories. The results of the study showed three tendencies of parenting patterns, namely positive, negative, and neutral. Positive parenting patterns are seen in the attitude of guiding, directing, and accompanying children in learning and socializing activities. Negative parenting patterns are characterized by the use of violence, minimal support, and lack of affection that makes children quiet and less confident. Neutral parenting occurs when children are given unlimited freedom or control, which makes children feel neglected. These three patterns influence children's social emotional development, depending on the consistency of implementation and existing communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method in improving English vocabulary comprehension in children aged 5–6 years. Early age is an important period in language development, so a learning method is needed that is in accordance with the characteristics of children, one of which is the TPR method. This study was conducted through a literature study by reviewing various internationally reputable scientific journals that discuss the application of the TPR method in early childhood education (PAUD). The results of the study indicate that TPR is an effective method in improving vocabulary mastery through fun and participatory physical activities. Children are asked to respond to verbal instructions with body movements, such as pointing, running, or jumping according to the meaning of the words being learned. This approach makes it easier for children to associate vocabulary with real actions, thus strengthening their memory. The TPR method is very suitable for the cognitive and psychomotor development of early childhood children who tend to learn through concrete experiences. Through movement-based learning, children become more active, focused, and motivated. In addition, the learning atmosphere created is more interactive and free from pressure, because children are not forced to speak directly, but rather understand and respond to commands physically. The Total Physical Response method has been proven to be effective as an English teaching strategy for early childhood. This approach not only improves vocabulary, but also supports the development of motor skills, concentration, and children's self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of exemplary and habituation of parents' religious behavior in supporting the moral and religious development of early childhood. Children in the early age stage are in the phase of imitation and value formation, so the family environment, especially parents, is the main factor in instilling moral and religious values. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation on families in the Tulangbawang Lampung. The results showed that parents' exemplary religious practices such as worshipping, praying, and telling the truth consistently have a positive influence on children's behavior. In addition, the habituation of religious activities in daily routines, such as reading prayers together and attending family religious activities, strengthens children's understanding of moral and spiritual values. Thus, exemplification and habituation carried out consistently by parents prove to be an important foundation in shaping children's religious character from an early age.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country rich in culture, including traditional music, which serves as a national identity and asset. However, the current of globalization has brought significant challenges to the preservation of local culture, especially among the younger generation. This study aims to describe the use of angklung as a medium for preserving traditional musical instruments among early childhood students at Mambaul Ulum Gondanglegi Kindergarten. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that regular angklung playing activities can increase children's interest in local culture and support their cognitive, motor, socio-emotional, and character development. Children aged 5–6 years showed high enthusiasm in participating in angklung activities, which were packaged in a fun and contextual manner appropriate to their developmental stage. In addition to being a musical instrument, angklung has proven effective as a means of character education and a medium for cultural preservation integrated into early childhood learning activities. These findings underscore the importance of integrating traditional arts into the educational curriculum as a strategy to foster children's love of national culture from an early age.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the creativity of early childhood 4-5 years old at Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kindergarten Malangsuko through traditional batik jumputan (tie-dye) art activities with a 4P creativity approach (Person, Process, Press, Product). The research was conducted in three stages: pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, using the Kemmis and Taggart model which includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations of 13 children, consisting of 6 girls and 7 boys. The results showed a significant increase in all creativity indicators after the implementation of jumputan activities using textile fabrics and dyes. In the final cycle, 92.30% of children showed initiative in creating patterns and combining colors (Person), 84.60% were able to overcome technical challenges during the process (Process), 92.30% felt comfortable and confident in expressing their artwork (Press), and 84.60% were able to express the ideas behind the batik works they made (Product). These results indicate that tie-dye batik provides a stimulating, enjoyable, and culturally relevant medium for developing creativity, imagination, self-confidence, and problem-solving skills in early childhood. Recommendations for further research include increasing dye concentration, using faster-drying materials, and simplifying tools to better suit children's fine motor skills.

Abstract

Child-centered learning is unique in contributing to early childhood independence. The implementation of child-centered learning requires extra attention from the teacher's side, but from the student's side, it requires focused attention that allows for the absence of teachers in activities. This qualitative descriptive study, which lasted for one year, explained the important role of teachers and parents in the process of early childhood independence using a centered learning approach. The research results show that the role of teachers in the process of increasing children's independence in learning requires a fairly high level of teacher innovation and sensitivity in the process of implementing centered learning. Teachers still need a considerable amount of time to build early childhood independence comprehensively. Starting from sensitivity to students, learning innovation in centers, and communication with parents. Teachers understand the importance of early childhood independence learning will greatly influence the character of early childhood in the future. Teachers' hard work in unique centered learning innovations must be appreciated because it has many complex functions and benefits for early childhood development

Abstract

Independence is a crucial aspect in early childhood development, which needs to be instilled early so that children grow into confident and resilient individuals, and are responsible. Initial observations at the Jabal Tsur Tajinan Playgroup (KB) showed that most children aged 3-4 years, 70%, had not shown optimal independence, still depending on adults for daily activities. This condition was caused by a lack of appropriate stimulation and the tendency of adults to be too helpful, which hindered the development of an independent attitude. This study aims to increase the independence of children aged 3-4 years at the Jabal Tsur Tajinan Playgroup. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design The PTK process is carried out in a repetitive cycle which includes Planning, Implementation (acting), Observation (observing), and reflection (reflecting). The study population was 12 children in group A aged 3-4 years at KB Jabal Tsur Tajinan, consisting of 6 girls and 6 boys. The research instrument was an observation sheet and an assessment rubric that included indicators of child independence. Dialysis data was descriptive. The results of initial observations showed that the average achievement of child independence was only 36%. After the implementation of Practical Life through role playing, there was a significant increase. In cycle I, the average achievement increased to 60%. Further increases occurred in cycle II, reaching an average of 92%. This approach has proven to be a significant learning tool to support the independence of early childhood, with children showing increased ability to carry out daily activities independently. These results are expected to be a reference for educators and PAUD institutions in developing fun learning models to optimally support children's independence.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of storytelling methods using picture story books in developing the language skills of children aged 5-6 years at the Qur'an Ma'arif Kindergarten Sumber Rezeki Mataram. The study was conducted in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR) for two cycles, each consisting of three meetings. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, with a focus on five indicators of language skills: speaking with good language, writing names, communicating with teachers and friends, asking and answering questions. The results showed a significant increase in language skills. The average score of children increased from 7.6 (Not Developing) in the pre-cycle, to 16.0 (Developing as Expected) in the first cycle, and reached 23.5 (Developing Very Well) in the second cycle. Learning with picture books has been proven to be able to create a pleasant learning atmosphere, stimulate children's verbal expression, and facilitate the understanding of vocabulary and sentence structure. This study recommends the use of picture story methods as an effective strategy for early childhood education teachers in improving children's language development as a whole.
