Abstract

At-risk student delinquency is a problem in education that can disrupt the learning process, reduce discipline, and negatively impact the social atmosphere at school. This study aims to examine the Home Visit strategy as part of guidance and counseling services to reduce at-risk student delinquency at Nesi Neonmat Private High School in Kupang City. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The study subjects included guidance and counseling teachers and students considered at-risk. Data collection techniques used interviews, questionnaires, and a review of school documents. Data analysis was conducted inductively, with stages such as data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the Home Visit strategy was implemented effectively and contributed to reducing student delinquency, particularly in cases of truancy, tardiness, and minor disciplinary violations. Furthermore, this strategy strengthens collaboration between the school and parents in fostering sustainable positive student behavior.

Abstract

The background of this research is that there is a gap between the demands of the ideal curriculum emphasizing the development of in-depth teaching materials and the reality of copy-paste habits and administrative burdens that hinder teachers' creativity. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the preparation of teaching modules in the Independent Curriculum in improving teachers' professional competence. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out through non-participatory observation methods, in-depth interviews, and document studies, which were then analyzed through the stages of condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that (1) The process of preparing the Teaching Module independently functions as an effective forcing mechanism for self-upgrading teachers; (2) The activity of studying learning outcomes and compiling teaching materials requires teachers to re-validate their scientific concepts, thereby strengthening the structure of thinking and mastery of the material (professional competence). The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the preparation of teaching modules in the independent curriculum can improve teachers' professional competence if carried out through a collaborative learning community.

Abstract

The professional development needs of teachers still rely on formal training programs. Principal's leadership interventions are only sustainable and do not focus on consistent behavior change. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of principal leadership based on micro-habits coaching in improving teachers' pedagogic performance. This research uses a qualitative research paradigm with a case study approach. Data were collected through non-participatory observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Respondents were selected by purposive sampling. The findings of the study show that (1) the leadership of the principal has implemented micro-habits coaching can build a culture of continuous learning in the school environment; (2) The principal plays the role of a coach who facilitates teachers to identify areas of self-development, set realistic micro-targets, monitor progress, and provide positive reinforcement for the achievements obtained. This study concludes that micro-habits coaching based leadership is an effective strategy to improve teachers' pedagogic performance and is implemented more widely as a model of sustainable professional development in schools.

Abstract

Learning media is a form of technology that can be used as an intermediary to convey learning messages so that they can stimulate students' thoughts, feelings, attention, and interests. However, in practice, learning media is still not maximized in its function so that it does not clarify the presentation of the material, overcome the limitations of space and time, and increase the effectiveness of learning. This study aims to describe and analyze the role of the use of learning media in fostering student learning independence. The researcher uses a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the use of visual, audiovisual, and information technology-based media contributes positively to increasing student initiative, responsibility, and activeness in learning. Learning media has been proven to help students understand the material independently and reduce dependence on teachers. The conclusion of the study is that the use of learning media can foster student learning independence.

Abstract

Direct regional elections (Pilkada langsung) have become a central mechanism of local democratization in Indonesia, aiming to enhance the political legitimacy and accountability of regional leaders. However, the extent to which direct elections contribute to accountable local leadership remains debated in the literature on local politics and governance. This article aims to examine the impact of direct regional elections on the quality of local leadership, with particular attention to political and governance accountability, through a literature-based analysis. This research method employs a qualitative approach using a semi-systematic narrative literature review of scholarly works discussing direct regional elections, local democracy, leadership, and accountability in Indonesia. The selected literature is analyzed thematically to identify dominant patterns, supporting factors, and structural constraints that shape leadership accountability in the post-election context. The research findings suggest that while direct regional elections enhance electoral legitimacy, they do not automatically translate into more accountable leadership. High political costs, entrenched patronage networks, and weak oversight institutions often weaken accountability mechanisms at the local level. These dynamics are highly relevant to understanding leadership challenges in a politically and economically complex region like Bekasi Regency. This article concludes that improving the quality of local leadership requires a broader institutional and political reform agenda beyond election procedures, emphasizing stronger accountability mechanisms, democratic oversight, and meaningful citizen participation in local governance.

Abstract

Digitalization has become a transformative force that has fundamentally changed the social, cultural, and educational patterns of modern society. In Indonesia, particularly among the Sundanese people, the massive wave of digitalization poses a serious challenge in the form of erosion of local cultural identity due to the dominance of a homogeneous and instant global culture. This phenomenon has a significant impact on the younger generation who grow up in a digital ecosystem and are potentially experiencing cultural identity disorientation. This study aims to analyze digitalization as an accelerating factor in the erosion of Sundanese cultural identity and to examine the strategic role of education in preserving and revitalizing this cultural identity in the digital age. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a library research study through the analysis of various scientific sources, educational policy documents, and statistical data related to digitalization and culture. The results of the study show that the high penetration of the internet and the dominance of global digital culture accelerate the erosion of the Sundanese language, values of collectivism, and local wisdom among the younger generation. Education has a central role as the last bastion in preserving cultural identity through the integration of local values into the curriculum, particularly through the Merdeka Curriculum and the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project. The creative and ethical use of digital technology based on local wisdom has proven to be an important strategy for shaping a digitally literate generation that is also deeply rooted in culture, because a great nation is one that is able to preserve and nurture its culture amid changing times.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the dichotomy of knowledge in Islamic civilization, with a primary focus on the epistemological perspective of Al-Ghazali. In the historical development of Islam, knowledge was initially perceived as an integrated unity between religious and rational dimensions; however, external influences and the process of Western colonization led to the separation between religious sciences and secular sciences. This study aims to explain the historical roots of the knowledge dichotomy, to reexamine Al-Ghazali’s views on the integration of revelation and reason, and to analyze the impact of this dichotomy on contemporary Islamic education systems. The research employs a library research method with qualitative analysis of Al-Ghazali’s classical works and modern scholarly literature. The findings indicate that the accusation against Al-Ghazali as the initiator of the knowledge dichotomy is not entirely well-founded; rather, he emphasized the importance of integrating rational knowledge and revelation for the benefit of the Muslim community. This study also identifies ideas and models of integration between religious knowledge and science that are relevant in the modern era and formulates a new epistemological paradigm based on Al-Ghazali’s thought to bridge the crisis of knowledge dualism in contemporary Islamic education.
