Journal of Business Management and Economic Development (JBMED) is an international academic open-access journal that has gained a foothold in Indonesia, Asia and is open to the world. It aims to promote the integration of trade, economics, and finance. The focus is to publish papers on state-of-the-art economics, business and management. Submitted papers will be reviewed by technical committees of the journal and association. The audience includes researchers, managers, and operators for economics, business, and management as well as designers and developers. All submitted articles should report original, previously unpublished research results, experimental or theoretical, and will be peer-reviewed. Articles submitted to the journal should meet these criteria and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should follow the style of the journal and are subject to both review and editing.

Abstract

Industry 4.0 has brought a major transformation in the industrial paradigm, with digital technology that continues to develop and the start of the era of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) making businesses have to think about strategic steps to maintain sustainability and resilience. Therefore, every business is required to be adaptive, especially in making policies and managing them. Kampung Batik Jetis Sidoarjo, which is a center for written batik that has existed since the 1900s, is also not immune from these challenges. The purpose of this study is to determine the description of the adaptive policies of Batik Jetis Sidoarjo craftsmen in facing the VUCA era. The method of writing scientific articles uses qualitative research methods and data collection techniques in the form of interviews and observations. This research activity explains the adaptive policy strategies of batik craftsmen and the efforts that can be made to face the VUCA era. The results showed that Jetis batik craftsmen rely on strong communication relationships with customers to help craftsmen confidently face the VUCA era.

Abstract

The Interesting talks in the company in Indonesia is about social and environmental issues. This event corresponds to the publication of Presidential Regulation No. 92 of 2020 pertaining to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. As a result, having complete and accurate environmental information will lead to better environmental performance. In this situation, financial services firms such as banks can help to realize a green environment by channeling financing to environmentally friendly and sustainable businesses. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Green Banking and Financial Performance on the Level of Profitability in Conventional Bank Sector Financial Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2020-2022 term. For a total sample of 21 enterprises, this study used the purposive sampling method and secondary data in the form of financial statements. SPSS 24.0 was used to analyze the data using the multiple linear regression analysis approach. The findings revealed that Green Accounting has a marginally (Test t) insignificant influence on Return On Asset (ROA). Return On Asset (ROA) is influenced by Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Loan (NPL), BOPO, and Loan to Deposit Asset Ratio (LDR).

Abstract

This study intends to build a conceptual model to describe and empirically prove the formation of employee performance through work engagement and organizational culture. This study used quantitative methods and involved 96 non-medical employees as samples. Data were collected using questionnaires, then analyzed by multiple linear regression. Empirically shows that work engagement has a significant effect on employee performance. Employee performance will improve if employees feel valued and obligated to put in full effort at work. Likewise, organizational culture has a significant effect on employee performance. This is because workers who have understood and applied organizational culture effectively to their work activities will force others to follow the rules set by the company, which in turn will encourage improved employee performance. The better the organizational culture, the more employees will care about the company's values and use them as a guide when doing work. With employee engagement and a strong organizational culture will drive performance improvement.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to scrutinize the impact of communication, knowledge management, teamwork, and capability on the performance of employees. The research utilized a quota sampling technique, involving a total of 344 employees. The factors under investigation were communication, knowledge management, teamwork, capability, and employee performance. The results from the hypothesis testing indicated that communication significantly improves employee performance. Moreover, it was discovered that capability considerably augments employee performance via knowledge management and teamwork. The research emphasizes the crucial contribution of capability in enhancing employee performance. It was also verified that knowledge management and teamwork significantly contribute to employee performance. To sum up, this study offers important perspectives on the elements affecting employee performance, underlining the significance of communication, knowledge management, teamwork, and capability.

Abstract

Export market research is an important component in carrying out export activities. In this research, an analysis of export market opportunities was carried out to find potential markets for craft business actors from typical Karo woven cloth in North Sumatra so that they could maximize marketing efforts globally. This research aims to determine the export market potential for Karo handicraft products and find the right strategy in marketing typical Karo handicraft products. The research method used in this research is a qualitative approach, then data collection is carried out through interviews, observation and surveys. The results of data testing show that the potential export markets for Karo craft products are Singapore and then Malaysia, so it is necessary to maximize market opportunities in these countries with appropriate export marketing strategies. Karo craft entrepreneurs need to maximize marketing to export destination countries with strategies that can be implemented starting from online marketing, participating in international exhibitions and events as well as carrying out strategic collaborations.

Abstract

In the current dynamic AI environment, it is crucial for organizations to enhance the cooperation between humans and technology in order to enhance employee performance. This research examines strategic steps to thrive in the workplace amid the presence of AI. The study analyzes the symbiotic relationship between employees and AI technology to identify effective strategies that organizations can implement to improve employee performance. The synthesis of empirical data and case studies from various industries is achieved through the utilization of an interdisciplinary framework that includes organizational psychology, technology adoption theory, and strategic management. The analysis focuses on the impact of customized initiatives such as ongoing learning programs, customizable upskilling, and AI-conscious leadership in enabling employees to collaborate effectively with AI and leverage its capabilities to increase productivity and drive innovation. The study highlights the importance of strategically integrating AI and implementing proactive initiatives that allow employees to easily adopt the technology. In addition, it underscores the importance of organizational culture in cultivating a growth mindset that enables AI to drive individual and collective achievement. The study offers an overarching framework for organizations as they navigate artificial intelligence (AI) integration while placing a high emphasis on developing and growing their employees. Implementing these strategic initiatives can enhance business success in the era of artificial intelligence by optimizing employee performance and achieving competitive advantage.

Abstract

This research focuses on the freelancer policy published in the electronic daily, Kompas, from 2003 to 2022 with a Discourse Network Analysis approach. This form of research includes qualitative research. The technique used for data collection is library research. The data analyzed is secondary data, namely in the form of online news articles on the Kompas.com portal. There are 98 pro and con statements. Data analysis using DNA Analyzer. It was obtained that the economic value of pro statements was 28 statements and there were 10 counter statements. In the autonomy value, there are 27 pro statements and 4 counter statements. The value of work-life balance has 18 pro statements and 1 counter statement. There are 4 social values ​​for pro statements and 3 counter statements. There are 6 pro statement development values ​​and 1 counter statement, then visualized using the Visone application. The research results show that there are six value propositions for daily freelancers, there is only one value that is not discussed, namely hedonic value. Regarding economic value, the focus of the discussion focuses on holiday allowances for freelancers. Meanwhile, the autonomy value discussed is freelancers who have no bargaining value. In terms of social values, discussions on the recruitment of freelancers still experience many obstacles, thus triggering conflict. Next, the balance value discusses daily freelancers who are forced to work outside company working hours. Lastly, the development value discusses the large number of daily freelancers in Indonesia.

Abstract

Because the level of employee satisfaction with the facilities provided by the company greatly influences the stability of the company, companies must be able to understand the needs of their employees. This study will investigate whether compensation also influences job satisfaction of foreign capital companies in the manufacturing industry in Karawang. This research uses the concept of descriptive and verification research, and the aim of descriptive research is to get an overview of the characteristics of the variable application of compensation and job satisfaction. The research results show that the compensation variables measured indicate that most middle line managers believe that employees receive compensation for all the work they do, whether in the form of money or not. So, research finds that compensation influences job satisfaction in a small way.

Abstract

Public welfare is a concern that the government continues to resolve. The government has undertaken various efforts to improve public welfare. This research aims to determine the influence of goverment social welfare programs known as family hope program (PKH), transparancy and accountability of rural funding management on public walfare in Gaya Jaya Village, Lawe Sigala Gala District, Southeast Aceh. The population used in this research is the citizens of Gaya Jaya Village, Lawe Sigala-Gala District, Southeast Aceh who obtaining grants from government social walfare program (PKH). The whole population of this research is used as a sample. The number of samples used in this research amounted to 41 respondents. This research data is primary data obtained from research questionnaires, distributed to all respondents. The results of this research show that the goverment social welfare programs, transparency and accountability of rural funding management have positive and significant effect on public walfare in Gaya Jaya Village, Lawe Sigala Gala District, Southeast Aceh. From the results of this research, it is expected that in the next government social welfare program there will be no mistargeting in assisting the public.

Abstract

The study aims to (1) explain whether or not the use of social media has an influence on the development of the Banjar Bu Machmudah cake business; (2) explain whether product innovation has an influence on the development of the Banjar Bu Machmudah cake business; and (3) explain whether the use of social media and product innovation have an influence on the development of the Banjar Bu Machmudah cake business. This study employs a quantitative method, using multiple linear regression analysis, to explain the impact of social media and product innovation on business development). In this study, the population consisted of all 106 consumers of the Banjar Bu Machmudah cake shop in April 2023. Purposive sampling was utilized, which is a sample technique with specific requirements. Customers who made more than one purchase at the Banjar Bu Machmudah cake shop throughout April were eligible, with 106 people responding. The finding showed that (1) the use of social media has a substantial impact on the business development of Banjar Bu Machmudah cakes., (2) the product Innovation has a big impact on business development in Banjar Bu Machmudah cakes (3) The usage of social media and product innovation has a big impact on business development.
