Abstract

This study analyzes the application of Break Even Point in transforming financial management at Pondok Pesantren Salaf Darussalam Rejoagung Banyuwangi and its implications for institutional independence and sustainability. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from January to June 2025. Analysis employed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, with data validity ensured through source triangulation, member checking, and intensive researcher involvement. Findings reveal that Break Even Point emerged from the critical awareness of pesantren leaders regarding financial uncertainty traditionally dependent on donations, functioning as both an objective instrument and a metaphorical “map and compass” guiding financial navigation without neglecting spiritual values. The contextualization of fixed, variable, semi-variable, and non-cash costs highlighted ethical dilemmas in monetizing internal resources. Break Even Point fostered independence through digital financial management, business unit development, sustainable operational planning, and strategic decision-making. The study concludes that Break Even Point serves not only as a financial tool but also as an institutional catalyst bridging modern accountability with pesantren spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Serang City Batik Ambassadors in building the cultural brand of traditional textiles amid the growing tide of modernization. The phenomena of globalization and the development of information technology have brought significant changes to local culture, including traditional batik as a symbol of regional cultural identity. In this context, the Serang City Batik Ambassadors serve as cultural agents who play a role in strengthening the image of batik, introducing it to the public, and preserving its cultural values, particularly among the younger generation. This study employs a qualitative approach using the case study method. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation of the activities of the Serang City Batik Ambassadors. The results indicate that the Serang City Batik Ambassadors play a strategic role in building cultural branding through promotional activities, educational initiatives, and participation in various cultural and social events. Furthermore, the Batik Ambassadors contribute to raising public awareness of the importance of preserving batik as a local cultural heritage amid the rapid pace of modernization. Thus, the Serang City Batik Ambassadors serve not only as cultural symbols but also as key actors in strengthening a regional cultural identity that is adaptable to the changing times.

Abstract

This article discusses the value of religious pluralism through a comparative analysis of the interpretations of Abu Ja‘far al-Tabarī in Jāmi’ al-Bayān and M. Quraish Shihab in Tafsir al-Misbāh regarding Quranic surah al-Hujurāt [49]: 13. This study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis, focusing on exegetical texts as primary sources and academic literature as secondary sources. The results of the analysis indicate that both exegetes affirm the equality of human origins, recognition of diversity, and piety as the primary measure of nobility. Differences in interpretive styles are evident in al-Tabarī’s textual, hadith-based focus, whereas Quraish Shihab develops contextual meanings in accordance with the realities of contemporary pluralistic society. The implications of this study affirm that the Quran, Surah al-Hujurāt [49]: 13, can serve as an ethical foundation for building tolerant, just, and harmonious interfaith relations without blurring the distinct principles of each religion’s beliefs, while simultaneously strengthening the discourse on Islamic multiculturalism.

Abstract

Rain-shaman practices remain embedded in certain Muslim community wedding traditions in Indonesia. These practices warrant scholarly examination as they reflect the intersection of local cultural traditions, communal religious understanding, and the principle of tawhid in Islamic teachings. This study aims to analyze the forms of rain-shaman practices within wedding ceremonies and to evaluate their conformity with Islamic hadith through the methodological framework of sanad and matan criticism. Employing a qualitative field research design, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving rain-shamans, religious leaders, cultural figures, and community members. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, reinforced by hadith criticism. Findings reveal diverse practices: some involve supplications directed to Allah, which may be interpreted as religious efforts (ikhtiar), while others employ symbolic media such as chili, salt, nails, and offerings, accompanied by beliefs in the shaman’s special powers elements lacking strong hadith foundations and potentially conflicting with the principle of tawhid. The study concludes that hadith criticism provides a normative framework for proportionally evaluating local religious practices, balancing cultural heritage with Islamic orthodoxy.

Abstract

The phenomenon of wives serving as primary breadwinners has become increasingly prevalent in Muslim families due to socio-economic changes and shifting gender roles. Previous studies have generally examined this issue from legal, economic, or gender perspectives separately, while comprehensive analyses based on Maqasid al-Shariah remain limited. This article employs a qualitative method using content analysis. The data consist of scholarly literature on Islamic family law, gender studies, family well-being, and contemporary Maqasid al-Shariah discourse, which were analyzed to examine the role of wives as primary breadwinners and to formulate a conceptual model of Muslim family well-being based on Maqasid al-Shariah. The data were analyzed using content analysis through the five dimensions of Maqasid al-Shariah: protection of religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-‘aql), progeny (hifz al-nasl), and wealth (hifz al-mal). The findings indicate that wives’ economic contributions can strengthen family resilience and well-being, while also creating challenges such as double burdens, psychosocial pressures, and patriarchal resistance Wives as primary breadwinners can be recognized as a legitimate form of social adaptation within Muslim families, aligning with the objectives of Maqasid al-Shariah when balance across its five dimensions is sustained; the proposed multidimensional model thus offers practical guidance for strengthening family policy, empowerment initiatives, and household resilience.

Abstract

Child sexual exploitation in digital spaces encompasses online grooming, sextortion, child trafficking for pornography, and the production and distribution of sexual content involving minors. The rapid growth of internet and social media use among children and adolescents has intensified these risks. This study aims to systematically identify and analyze parental digital literacy strategies in preventing child sexual exploitation on social media, develop an applicable educational model, and examine supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. Employing a qualitative approach with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design, the research synthesizes relevant scholarly literature through identification, appraisal, and thematic integration. Findings reveal that digital predators exploit techniques such as grooming, emotional manipulation, and identity deception, which are difficult to detect without parental mediation. Parents with strong digital literacy act as facilitators and mediators in fostering children’s digital resilience. Three clusters of strategies are identified: technical‑operational measures, educational‑communicative approaches, and contextual factors influencing implementation. The study underscores the importance of collaboration among families, schools, and communities to establish a comprehensive child protection system in digital environments.

Abstract

This article investigates the epistemological dialectics between Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi and Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas, focusing on the concepts of Islamization of knowledge and ta’dib in twenty-first-century Islamic education. The study is motivated by enduring challenges such as the dichotomy of knowledge, secularization, curriculum fragmentation, digital disruption, and the crisis of adab in contemporary Islamic institutions. Using a Systematic Literature Review with thematic-comparative synthesis, it analyzes academic publications from 2020 to 2026 on Islamization of knowledge, ta’dib, adab, Islamic worldview, knowledge integration, curriculum reform, and decolonization of knowledge. The findings reveal that Al-Faruqi’s contributions emphasize Islamization of knowledge, tawhid integration, disciplinary reconstruction, curriculum development, and institutional reform. In contrast, Al-Attas is more closely associated with ta’dib, adab, the Islamic worldview, hierarchy of knowledge, and the formation of the civilized human being. Both thinkers critique secularized knowledge and the dichotomy between religious and modern sciences, yet their epistemological strategies diverge: Al-Faruqi advances an operational and institutional project, while Al-Attas provides a metaphysical and conceptual foundation. The study concludes that a critical synthesis is possible only if their fundamental differences are preserved, offering significant implications for curriculum reform, knowledge integration, and the renewal of Islamic educational philosophy in the digital era.

Abstract

This study investigates the management and impact of curriculum integration between pesantren and Islamic schools, focusing on its influence on students’ Qur’an memorization quality and the challenges encountered in implementation. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving school principals, curriculum coordinators, pesantren leaders, ustadz tahfidz, and nine student participants. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that curriculum collaboration is systematically organized through integrated planning, synchronized implementation between tahfidz schedules and formal learning, and periodic evaluation based on academic and tahfidz assessments. This integration demonstrably improves students’ fluency, accuracy, and consistency in Qur’an memorization. However, key challenges include limited time management, heterogeneous student motivation and ability, and adaptation to evolving national curriculum policies. The study highlights that integrated curriculum design offers an effective Islamic education model that strengthens both Qur’an memorization and academic achievement.

Abstract

Pluralism has emerged as a strategic issue in multicultural societies and continues to be debated within the discourse of Islamic law and contemporary education. On the one hand, pluralism is perceived as an essential instrument for building peaceful and inclusive social life, while on the other hand, it is often associated with religious relativism. This study aims to analyze the concept of pluralism from the perspective of Islamic law, identify its normative foundations in the Qur’an, Sunnah, and classical scholarly thought, and reconstruct its implementation model in contemporary education. Employing a qualitative method with normative, philosophical, and conceptual approaches, the research applies Miles and Huberman’s data analysis technique, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Primary sources include the Qur’an, hadith, and classical Islamic legal literature, while secondary sources comprise reputable journal articles and academic books published between 2020 and 2026. The findings reveal that pluralism in Islamic law is grounded in the principles of ta‘āruf, tasāmuḥ, al-‘adālah, al-musāwah, and al-ta‘āwun, all directed toward achieving social welfare. The maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah analysis demonstrates the relevance of pluralism to the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. The study offers the novelty of an Islamic Legal Pluralism-Based Education model, integrating Islamic legal principles, maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, and multicultural education into a systematic conceptual framework to foster inclusive, moderate, and responsive Islamic education in the plural society of the twenty-first century.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mechanisms of the brain and nervous system in the learning process and to examine their relevance to the concept of fitrah in contemporary Islamic education. This study is motivated by emerging findings in neuroscience that explain the biological processes of learning, while Islamic education relies on the concept of fitrah as the foundation for the holistic development of human potential. However, studies that integrate these two perspectives remain relatively limited. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Data were obtained by searching for scientific articles in the Google Scholar, Scopus, Dimensions, DOAJ, and Crossref databases published between 2020 and 2026. Literature meeting the inclusion criteria was analyzed using thematic synthesis techniques to identify patterns, concepts, and relationships among variables. The results indicate that attention, emotion, memory, executive function, and neuroplasticity are the primary brain mechanisms influencing learning success. This study found a conceptual common ground between neuroscience and Islamic education that paves the way for a more holistic learning paradigm. This model is expected to serve as a conceptual foundation for the development of evidence-based Islamic education including curriculum, learning strategies, and character education in the contemporary educational landscape.
